At £6m the club can probably quadruple that at worst in 5 years time.

Maatsen is as in-demand as a left-back gets and he's only going for £30m. Transfer fees have reached peak inflation and the reality is no one outside of the EPL has cash to buy at a premium.

    Thank you for this voice of reason. I cannot understand this bollocks I read about all these generational talents that we are going to develop and sell on for huge profits, when nobody has any money.  Even Saudi are not buying old has beens any more. Nobody in Europe will be paying large upfront fees. Their leagues are no longer big enough to warrant it anyway.

    Funny how every kids we are linked are known as the next ' great player via name'. Who named them anyway, their cousins? 😎 If every year you find the next Messi or Cafu, those greats aren't that great, are they?

    PSR limits not only what you can do but when you can do it. There will always be clubs that have room to spend though. Southampton just paid £20m to City for Harwood Bellis from an obligation of getting promoted.

    That's still PL internal, and there will still be a ceiling on that. People talk about moving Mudryk on. To who? Who has got anywhere near the money  for Chelsea just to wash their own face. There is virtually no more offshore to cover PL money spent on a lot of these players.

    To be fair I think ownership has always had eyes strictly in the Premiership given the way they talk about potential revenue it brings.

    It's an interesting and additional point. One we haven't really contemplated yet as we've been outside looking in for a while. If we re more successful,  successful enough for value being added to outer players, effectively the market that we will be looking to trade with will be our competitors.  How will we feel about selling Palmer in a year or so to Liverpool when Salah is done. For us fans it'll be an outrage but if he sells for 80m, what then?

    I hope that this is done now, and not just some ploy to get these idiot Americans to come up with a last gasp ridiculous bid.

    What this lot should do, if they had anything about them, is to let it be known, not too publicly, but certainly through South America, that they will never deal with Recife again for messing them about. But in reality , they are just as likely to come up with a stupid bid and look like clowns, there for the taking, yet again.

    I guess the lad wanted to play in England and NOT Strasbourg.  Fair enough really.   I guess the lads at Wolves have sorted out his work permit.

     

    btw - Trivia fact. George Best was Wolves supporter as a kid.
