loz
Richly deserved. I noticed it was a 1-2-3 of Essien, Drogs and Carvalho which just goes to show that when you allow fans to vote the get things right, it is when you let footballers and football writers get involved that you get stupid results!! The Moos
Sahar Youth product player of the year? Well, it was between him and Sinclair I suppose. I guess Sahar got the edge because he's played for the national team. Otherwise I think Sinclair has been better. 2 amazing goals too Mikel getting Young player of the year was a great choice. He started off a bit slow mostly because he hadn't played in like 18 months (except a few games for Nigeria) but when he got back on track he was amazing. Scored a nice goal against Macclesfield too if I'm not mistaking. Player of the year was a bit more tricky. Carvalho stepping up when JT was out was a huge achievement. Drogba scoring more than 30 goals and being a vital part in our teams success was amazing. But Essien playing in 5 different positions (winger, def mid, off mid, rb, cb) and doing it all extremly well must be something unique. Next season I bet we'll see him play as striker and as a keeper. And he will be great then too A player that I think should get a pat on the shoulder though is Diarra. A defensive midfielder having to play as RB an entire season and being quite good is really great work for a young guy. And let's not forget JT who has shown us all what a man of iron he is. Surgery on his back and back in training the next day, then hurting his foot but magicaly heal in time for a game and finally getting kicked in the head so that he's knocked out cold and swallowing his tongue and still leaves the hospital to join the the celebration after we won the league cup. What a man
Sofa Manager
Excelent. He would've been my choice too. In fact, the 3 players (Essien-Drogba-Carvalho) by that order exactly. Mikel for young player also a given. (Could it have been Kalou or is he too old to qualify?)
The Brit
I forgot that Cech was given a special bravery award or something like that to recognise his amazing recovery from a fractured skull...I think chelsea tv earlier said he only played 20 league games this season...I knew he was out for a while, but to miss 18 league games? we lost the league by six points, you just know his performances alone would have prevented that gap
Makelele
hmm i was sooooooo sure Drogs would snatch it...oh well, Its good to see a player like Essien take the honour, he looks to have passion for our club, a real great player!

I hope he stays with us 'till he dies, and is then reincarnated and succeeds himself as our manager forever and ever and ever.

blizeH
Just thought I'd bump this with an interesting quote from someone who runs one of the main Spurs podcasts: BTW, I just thought I'd mention how unbelievably f**king incredible Essien is. This guy does not get enough credit, he is the most complete player in the league, if not the world. He's amazing. Chelsea do not deserve him. The last comment aside, it's great to see Essien is getting recognised in such a way by fans other than our own. People always mention Ronaldo, Fabregas, Toress, Gerrard, Berbatov etc, and closer to home Lampard, Drogba etc, and whilst these players obviously deserve the recognition they've achieved, I think Essien deserves to have his name amongst them, easily. It took him a while but for the last six weeks essien has hit the form of last season...timed it to perfection to help our assault on two fronts...not enough to win my vote this year though...i'm still undecisive cos Joe has gone off the boil in recent weeks
Nibs
Yeah it's been a weird one this season. Many have had great games here and there - Lamps, Drogs, Essien, Joe but no-one has been consistant enough to be viewed as "player of the season". Very tough call - at present I'd probably go for Carvalho, but that could easily change by the 21st May.

mad_mac
We also got praise form some ex_arse player who now coaches in the mls. He was asked, "if you could buy onlny one player in the world to join your team, who would it be,' His answer "great question, for me it would have to be Essien," the guy who asked the question then joked "yeah, the player who can run for 90 minutes, and then be ready for another 90" He is great
clubhappy
Essien is quickly becoming one of my all time favourite players at Chelsea and i dread the day we ever lose him. Drogba will be difficult to replace too so im hoping we get another season from him, he's for my money the best center forward in the world when he's on form. Absolute class. Carv is the best centre half in the world, no question about it , his committment, his timing , his strenght and his ability as a footballer makes him stand out as an all time great player in the blue shirt. Player of the season ....Carvalho
sheeny
for me got to be Carvalho, has been consistently putting in top class performances for most of the season. Terry has been pretty poor this year by his standards but i think it has been covered by Carvalho being so good. I think the mistake v united was the only one i can really remember. Ballack second, by a decent margin has ran things lately, big player in crucial games, sscores big goals and when he plays well the team plays well. instead of long balls to drogba which for me are next to useless. Frank has been pretty useless all season. If you'd have asked me 6 weeks ago would have been Joe Cole by a country mile but hes been so so so poor lately when it has really mattered. essien is on the other end of the scale to cole, haiving been rubbish all seasonbut really stepping it up lately and playing out of his skin. Have to get this is in, Malouda is one of the all time sh*t chelsea players

sheeny
true, i did go a bit over the top, and i know injuries etc. affect it but i mean his general play has been a lot worse than it has been the last couple of season as has his goalscoring
