Enzo Maresca - Chelsea "Head Coach" *Official NOW SACKED*

It is absurd that managers want keepers to play balls with their feet when theyre in goal for exactly the opposite reason, hand-eye coordination. The role of a keeper is to keep the ball out of the net, doesnt matter how so long as a body part gets in the way of a shot on goal.

I thought Petrovic did that rather well in a side where the defence kept changing. I cant say his kicking game was brilliant, but he hits percentages into safe areas and does it better than Sanchez. If the club can upgrade on Petrovic, great, but if not, I dont have too many concerns about last seasons number one being this seasons. think it would do Petrovic's confidence the world of good if he retains his position.

I have no idea why modern goal keepers cant throw overarm anymore. its far more accurate than kicking or passing and has hieght to go over pressing lines. Schmiechal was brilliant at picking a pass with a overarm throw. Its a brilliant way to set up counter attacks as well. Theres an art form to dropping a ball 30 yards on someones toe from a keepers throw.

Unfortunatly, you need to ask if Petrovic would get in any other top 20 team in Europe.  The answer is probably no.

I meant the team are traveling to the states today.

I was at the Dortmund game in Chicago and I posted an image of the state of the pitch. Only moments later did we see Nkunku injury his knee.

well, I think all I can ask is who is better and available at a decent price? While he isnt the greatest keeper to grace the bridge, i actually like the fact he has a lot of really good basic qualities. such as knocking balls awy from danger areas, and dealing with ariel threats. He's a percentage keeper and not bad at all. We could do worse with sanchez between the posts.

Confidence is king between the posts... Remember, he came into the side late December last year, we were top 4 form wise from that period on. I think he earnt a place in the side.

Any keeper benefits greatly from an established defence, playing week in and week out, both he and the defence become more settled and confident. Learning each others game. When did we last have a settled defence.

Anyone else going to be incredibly critical this season, or is it just me?

This is genuinely the last season of patience I have with the bulk of these players, and Enzo Maresca better deliver. Amidst the chaos of last season we were seemingly on an upward trajectory under Poch.

You mean more critical? Most of the posters on this forum, including me, are geniuses. We can manage the club way better than the manager, select better teams than the manager, and could do far better than the owners with the money they have mostly made by ripping someone off. Any English person knows more about football from birth than all Americans and most Europeans put together. As for the players, they are too young, overpaid, untalented and hardly worthy of playing for the local works team. Tv commentators are also biased and incompetent and the refs all work for Manchester United. VAR is an invention of the devil. The game was better when there were leather balls, no subs and tackling from behind, studs up was an art form as demonstrated by Ron Harris.

I am at the phase now where its just 'meh" to the continuing circus around us.

Under Roman it was a circus at times but we were almost guaranteed trophies this is circus run by rich clowns with no trophy expectations.

Perhaps theyve been warned off travelling to the states by the new medical team. Pitches there just laid waste to Messi...

I have a feeling that CFC learned from last season and Maresca will be more forthright about players not getting injured due to bum pitches. Also for me it's a positive sign that so many have been left behind. Maresca isn't going to have circus. Its a project.

The one where I think the player would have some real cause for angst is Casedei, maybe Petrovic

Says to me that Casadei is either being sold back to Italy, or going on loan somewhere
