Mind you, who believes anything they say ??!!!! If he really did have that in mind, our nerves are going to be in pieces after a few minutes! Yeah the good news is he will still have time to go into the market before the window closes when he realises the mistake he's made. I like Sanchez as a shot stopper but he's just not that guy. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Maresca goes back to Leicester for his keeper before the close. Think he needs at least Kepa to go and maybe one other to do it, but if, say we sold Kepa and loaned out Petrovic, I could see him go for Hermansson

I was in bad shape every time he played for us...even his facial expression is one of emptiness. Lol

July 9, 20242 yr If we keep buying children for the midfield and we go into the season with Sanchez, Kepa and Petrovic, we’re f**ked. Unless the plan is to play Kellyman or Dewsbury-Hall as a ball playing keeper .

I have also noticed a shock version for sanchez too...same as above, still empty, but with raised eyebrows. Lol

July 9, 20242 yr Petrovich is my number 1. And at least with kepa we know his limitations, sanchez just scares the fk out of me. I just hope Maresca sees it sooner than later, he's got an army of players to go through and see who he wants in the squad, loan, etc and still more to come. The gk is easily just assigned to one of the other coaches to work with...so I just hope it ain't too late before Maresca sees it. Edited July 9, 20242 yr by Simplymo Can't spell

July 10, 20242 yr I think it is pretty simple with keepers.. the keeper who plays is the keeper that can comfortably play out from the back. Sanchez has much more balls to do so as he doesn't fear the consequences as much as Petrovic. Petrovic basically took Sanchez' place being much safer with the distribution but Pochettino wasn't adamant keeper needing to be the 5th in the defensive line, Maresca is. Sanchez is basically the David Luiz building from the back. Prone to massive errors but still doing it as he feels it is the way to play football. What is interesting to see is whether Maresca outlives one of Sanchez and Petrovic. We are not linked with keepers probably because he wants to see in the pre-season whether either one can cut it. I fear we will buy some weird keeper end of the window.

After 2 years of not having a real defined way of playing, hopefully now we will adapt and embrace a definite , tactical way of playing . without too many team changes between games and a less injury blighted season. Adding pace to possesion style is easy. The hard part is who doing the pacy stuff, how you cope with it and are you comfortable with it. Even Pep has Haaland or a while ago sane n sterling doing the pacy stuff. Edited July 10, 20242 yr by Bob stark

I’m sure there is a faster version of what maresca used at Leicester, perhaps keeping the ball deep and then breaking quickly, perhaps trying a fast break on the turnover and reverting to possession when it doesn’t work. If you have fast players you have to use them. Speed is an incredible advantage used well. I agree with you but I think Maresca is going to stick to his style come hell or high water. He went on record multiple times last season and confirmed he would not change his style for anything and that if the fans are unhappy about that its their problem. For better or worse I think we'll look completely different this season compared to last. With Pochettino there was a lot of back and forth action and few sides sat deep against us but this season I expect us to dominate the ball to a greater degree but at the same time face a lot of teams that will be happy for us to have it while sitting deep and looking to counter. So we'll be a slower side and I would expect plenty of groans from supporters but hopefully a side thats better at controlling games and putting our opponents away.
July 10, 20242 yr Like it or not I don’t believe in we are getting a new keeper this season so whoever can play our from the back the best will get the nod.
July 10, 20242 yr If Sanchez could use his feet, he would be almost world class keeper. He’s a very good keeper but he cannot use his feet. It scares us all. Maresca will find out the hard way unfortunately Edited July 10, 20242 yr by JM7

He was determined to f**k up all game. He was at fault for both of Arsenal's goals and if we had literally any other keeper in goal that day, we would have won 2-0 comfortably.
July 11, 20242 yr I don't think Sanchez' feet is the problem, it is the head. He made so weird choices last season with the passes. He basically just chose the worst player to pass to and many times also. I am not downplaying his footballing ability or the lack of it. He isn't silky passer either. And maybe awareness is not his best asset either. Petrovic looks like Cahill playing from the back. Absolutely petrified he makes a mistake. You can't have that. You need that David Luiz confidence that Sanchez has but intelligence to go along with that. Anyway neither of the keepers is fitting for Maresca. If pre-season shows just that we are going to buy someone. And it will most probably be the guy he had at Leicester as it is late in the window and he is available. That Dutch keeper could be lured..just not sure where he plays at... maybe we should throw some money at his club. 🤣
