Rosenior to bring in his back 3 from the off?

James likely rested after that shift vs city.

Sanchez

Fofana

Chalobah

Badiashile

Gusto

Caicedo

Santos

Cucurella/Neto

Palmer

Enzo

Delap

Even if Rosenior is confirmed before then I am not sure he will take charge of the team for this game. Might be another chance for Callum

All this back 3 stuff worries me. When we first tried it under Conte, it was kind of revolutionary and got the best out of our squad. Nowadays managers are using it because that's all they know and hope that it works.

I can see a lot of rotation for this game now.

They'll want to save a strong team for Charlton so that Rosenior starts his tenure with a win LOL

Yes Dr Eghbali will be mulling over his sick list v Fulham with recoveries due for the Charlton game.

Enzo, for me, is very much a #8, and like many #8s historically (Lamps comes to mind), he scores by making forward runs from deeper areas. That’s how he managed to tie the game against City and why he was largely unmarked.

Higher up the pitch, he’d be asked to pin defenders, take heavy passes, and control long balls with his back to goal. He has neither the build nor the skill set for that job. Palmer, for example, does that well.

I thought Santos and Hato looked decent last time out hope we see them get some minutes tonight. Shame about Fofana he has looked very assured recently, we need him on the pitch more often.

I doubt Reece will start 2 games in a few days but we can hope. I would also prefer Acheampong over Badiashile in CB.

I know Rosenior doesn't officially take charge of a game until Charlton on Saturday, but I'm nevertheless wondering if he has been allowed any input into tonight's line up ?

e.g. " I'd like to see player X in position Y "

Just trying to think through how to apportion appropriate blame if we drop points LOL

I think I'm good with "Maresca's fault" in this scenario ... and obviously nothing to do with him if we win !

Sanchez and Cucu back !

James in midfield. Enzo at #10.

Oh .. and Tosin at CB ! LOL.

Estevao not starting and Santos must be ill/injured or something as not even on the bench !

Chelsea: Sanchez; Gusto, Chalobah, Tosin, Cucurella; James (c), Caicedo; Neto, Fernandez, Palmer; Delap

Chelsea substitutes: Jorgensen, Acheampong, James, Fofana, Hato, Estevao, Garnacho, Gittens, Joao Pedro

James is on the bench
