Which players will the club try to offload this summer?

Featured Replies

Curious to see what everybody's thoughts on who the club might try to sell this summer. So not who we think should be sold, but which players the club will try to sell.

I reckon the following are most likely: Jorgensen, Badiashile, Disasi, Jackson, George, David Fofana, Paez, and Anselmino (last 2 because other young players in their positions already seem to be prefered ahead of them by the club).

From that list George would be pure profile, but most of the others would be at net losses (or perhaps break even). Not sure we will manage to offload all but I suspect attempts will be made.

Depending on potential losses, and whether or not we have Champions League football next season I can then see us attempting to sell 1 or 2 more players that can bring in some profit.

Most likely Tosin (since he was free), and/or Chalobah. But there have been some suggestions that Cucurella or Gusto might be subject of bids from Spain and I could see either of those happening too.

Of course then there are some higher profile players that may be starting to grow disgruntled if they don't see any progress so that could lead to a more surprise departure.

What does everybody else think?

Obviously available and probably being shopped around - Jorgensen, Disasi, Badiashile, Tosin, Wacko, George, Garnacho, Gittens, Pedro Neto, Fofana & Marc Guiu

Let leave if an offer came in though not openly ‘For Sale’ - Fofana, Cucu, Gusto & Enzo

Panic Sales to balance the sheets at the end of the window due to PURE PROFIT - RJ, Josh & Trev

Likely to hand in a transfer request and force their way out- Cole Palmer, Estevao & Andrey Santos.

I’d add Garnacho and Gittens to your list there. I would not be surprised to see palmer go to Real/Barca - unpopular opinion, I know.

Yes. Palmer is definitely one to keep an eye on unfortunately.

I could see Garnacho being another Joao Felix where we sell on within a season, if we were to get a decent offer. Most likely would be outside Premier League at this point. Gittens I think will be kept for another season, and maybe loaned out. Especially given that he will miss a chunk of the remainder this season through injury.

There are 2 players, I feel, they will look to sell if they don't sign new deals as they will have 2 years left on their contracts in the summer

Reece James and Marc Cucurella.

Trev and Tosin will also have 2 years left, I think they will try to sell them but won't get the valuation they want for them, and that could see them get new deals out of panic.

As for the rest of players they would try and move on for Sales:

Solnina, Disasi, Badiashile, Lavia, Neto, Garnacho, Guiu, Jackson.

Plus various players we've probably forgotten about, like DD Fofana.

I believe Delap, Jorgensen and Gittens will be moved on via loans to try and increase their values.

Reece is certainly a possibility as he is on a bigger wage and would be 100% profit. But they also know that would massively increase discontent from the fan base. Trev and Tosin are also both 100% profit and I think are more likely to be offloaded based on the amount of CB's we have at the club.

Honestly don't think they care what the fanbase feels or does. Only a regularly half or less empty stadium would cause them some concerns.

Come on. No loan is going to increase his value.

BlueCo's primary motivation is making money. But there is no BIG money in the buying/selling of players.

I agree for the most part. I think they hope that some of their young signings with potential prove to be big successes that can either be sold on for a decent profit or add to the value of the club as a whole when they eventually decide to sell on. But equally they don't want to be selling players at a loss as that has to be balanced out.

That's the crux of it, and what hedge funds do. Buy at a lower price, build up the business value then sell of and make their slice.

The fire sale the UK government put us under was an opportunity too good, or at least they thought it was, for Clearlake to pass on.

Still think Enzo will be the first one to push a move once his champions league wages are docked next season.

Wishful thinking, I doubt any club in the world wants him as much as this ownership does.

Not sure Felix is a comparable, it was not a real signing

I like the discussion in this thread. Everyone now has understood what kind of transfer policy that blue co is running and the discussion is more realistic.

Where have you been. Do you not read any of the posts on here. We've all been saying it from Day 1.

I'd almost forgotten about Paez. Wasn't he meant to be the next wonder kid? What's gone wrong - another Gael Kakuta?

He's having a very underwhelming loan at River Plate, following on from his very underwhelming loan at Strasbourg !

Still very young of course but I'm getting distinct "Ravel Morrison" vibes myself ...

WHAT a player he could have been!

Have heard so many people in the game say he is one of the best talents they ever saw and I recall seeing a few Man Utd youth games where he looked unbelievable. Alas, he surrounded himself with complete wrong 'uns and it all became a familiar story of what could have been.

He was doing well until he moved over to Europe. But since then seems to have lost his way. Reports of poor attitude etc. don't help. That is always the risk with investing in young talent. More often than not the potential is never fulfilled.
