abramovich
Who is this guy? I keep reading about us going after him and how big a talent he is. http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/...usrc=rss&feed=
loz
You should get to see him in action on Wednesday at Wembley. I thought Arsenal had already done a deal for him (or at least one of these 'first option' deals).

High Street Ken
Apparently he's a real battler and has a howitzer of a shot, despite his slight frame. Plays on the left a lot but prefers a central role. Is very good at ghosting in like Lamps. The kind of player we've been crying out for (particularly if Lamps joins Barca)
loz
If we are genuinely interested then why wait till the summer (unless Dinamo Zagreb are refusing to sell now) - bringing him in in January would make a lot more sense with Essien and Mikel off to the ACN and it giving him half a season to adjust before making a fresh start at the begining of a new campaign. For Grant to really make his mark (and the club to give a clear guide whether Grant is the long term option) he will need to demonstrate the kind of players he is looking to bring into the squad. For now he is working with Jose's squad and there is not a lot he can do about that due to the transfer window set up. If he looks to bring in a playmaker then it will signal a genuine change in direction.

evissy
He's a knob. Croatian players are vastly overrated by their press and their own supporters. That's really constructive of you SydneyChelsea. The overrating part is probably true, but isn't it what every country do? I was just browsing through some arse-forum that I found with google trying to find info on this Modric guy. They seem to be really enthusiastic about this guy, but what do I know what is going through their minds.. Would be nice if we'd catch him while arse-ne is thinking of making his slightly lowered counter-offer.
dreadis
Who is this guy? I keep reading about us going after him and how big a talent he is.http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/...usrc=rss&feed=5 Being a Bosnian, a Croatia neighbour, I often have opportunity to watch Croatia play as well as Dinamo Zagreb. Luka is a great talent and a really constructive player. In comparison to how he would fit into CFC and Premiership I think he would have a tough time adopting to the extremely physical game. Nevertheless, a year or two and he would be a great addition. I would say we could be having another Joe Cole type of story...struggle at the beginning and then boooooooooom!! :)
Michael
He might be a good young talent, but we already have our play maker in Joey.

MURDOCH_(8)
I wasn't that impressed by him tbh. Granted he had a decent/good game but considering the hype surrounding the boy i expected a little more. Perhaps am being overcritical
bjd
I thought he was top notch. Though i guess if you can keep the ball for more than 4 seconds and pass to a player wearing the same shirt as you you will always look good against England. Top player, but not 30 million worth! Top player, but not 30 million worth! He was better in the second half, anonymous in the first, Alan Green kept saying he was the best player on the pitch and fantastic and if Chelsea wanted him they could just go out and buy him with the cash they had. Not sure I want him for 30 million though but if Roman wants him then Grant wants him. I think you have to put his performance into perspective though, in that he only came into the game more when we got tired and gave up more space in the midfield - until then he had not really done that much. He looked quality but anything looks quality against England, just passing the ball to a guy with the right coloured shirt more than once appears to count for being a good footballer to most English commentators. Still he seems keen to come over although I read he doesn't care which club so its up to the highest bidder I guess so that normally means us. Unless our transfer policy has really changed. However, now Grant is on board I have a feeling Roman will start spending again as he has trust in the manager to want what he wants.
loz
I thought he looked good throughout. On a poor pitch he looked to get the ball under control all the time, when he wasn't in possession he gave the ball carrier options with short, but clever, runs and his passing was mostly intelligent. Chippy
Croatian Press: Chelsea Will Win €22m Modric Race Reports out of Croatia indicate that Chelsea are set to win the signature of Dinamo Zagreb midfield ace Luka Modric... 26/11/2007 15:24 http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=493620 According to Croatia's Nogometni Magazin, Luka Modric is set for a move from Dinamo Zagreb to none other than Chelsea in the January transfer window. With Arsenal, Juventus and AC Milan also monitoring the player, Dinamo Zagreb can essentially name their price for the 22 year old international. And it seems that Chelsea are set not only to match that, but also Modric's financial and footballing ambitions. The attack-minded youngster is said to be eager to join up with Avram Grant's side, the Chelsea manager having watched him in action against both England and Macedonia. Indeed, tycoon Roman Abramovich has agreed to bankroll Chelsea's bid based on the input of the manager and the scouting staff. Now, with the winter transfer window set to open in January, Modric may well be on the way to Stamford Bridge in just over a month - unless another bidder makes themself known. Yep here's the Guardian take on it, £18m+ seems a hell of a lot to me, is he worth it and do we need him? ecthelion
Why the hell does Arse need this guy. He looks like a clone of Rosicky. Also i thionk that Chelsea shuld definitely buy him. He will offer somethign different with all the bodybuilders or say musclemen around. We payed 19 million for Mikel when we didnt need him. We already had essien. Why purchase Mikel then? Instead of wasting millions on ronaldinho we shuld but this guy and turn him into a new Ronaldinho. Also Barca is interested in him so it will be very difficult to get him as he wants to play in Spain. [iframe:3rvl1ext]http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2232371,00.html[/iframe:3rvl1ext] We payed 16mill for Obi, was he worth it? We payed 20+ for Swp who was worth around 7+.As if it needs reminding we payed 30+ for sheva who was 29 at the time. What i m saying is that this guy is 22 so it dusnt matter as long as it is below 20.
