In any season if Chelsea were to win one trophy , and one trophy only, then my preference, in order, would be

1. Premiership

2. Champions League

3. FA Cup

4. League Cup

Now I accept there are some who would swap and put the Champions League above the Premiership however these are the people who are never sure if the person sitting opposite them at the breakfast table is their sister or their mother.

So my question is where would you slot your country winning the World Cup in this list in terms of which you would rather see.

i.e. if you would sacrifice Chelsea winning the Premiership for England (or whichever country you follow) winning the world cup then in the poll you would choose option 1, whereas if you would only sacrifice the league cup then choose option 4 (and so on)

being totaly honest i hate internationals. i like to see northern ireland and england do well but when it means chelsea players coming back injured and out for weeks at a time it really grates on me. i really only have time for chelsea

i would love to see england win the world cup

England's success in international tournaments is quite irrelevant to me. But if a trophyless season for Chelsea would mean Finland winning the World Cup or European Championships, then I have to say I'd grab it with both hands. ;) :spin:

I know...at the moment even qualifying for the international tournaments would be an achievement, but I'd absolutely love to see that happen more than anything else in the world of football.

Can't bring myself to go that far as I always want England to win however I do agree that it is wrong for your manager not to be the appropriate nationality and the law should be changed to enforce it (and not just for the manager, the entire management team including assistants, coaches, fitness etc etc).

From an Irish point of view , internationals dont really interest me too much . During the 1988 euros 1990 and 1994 WC i did become a drunken armchair, pub shouting supporter and they were fun times. But Chelsea were always my first priority and because we have bugger all chance of ever winning the W.C. , [Like England, Scotland, Wales , N.Ireland ] , i' have no real interest in it at all.

This would have been a much harder choice for me a few years ago. I've become very dislillusioned with international football lately. Rubbish uninspiring football, disinterested overhyped players and incompetent managers. I also hate the way some England fans boo their own. So for me it's Chelsea winning the PL and CL and possibly the FA Cup too ahead of England winning the world cup.

CFC first every time, besides Scotland are unlikely to ever win the World Cup. :o

A difficult choice and one that I am honestly working out as I type,

my interest in Englands games has waned over the years and only really comes to the fore when Chelsea players are shining in it...Joe last night for instance (not so much Frank)

to be honest foreign managers managing the national side seems all wrong to me and winning something big (DREAM ON) with an italian manager would take the edge of it for me.

I remember after 66 in the lead up to the 70 WC and the excitement that go's partly with being a kid and loving the game and partly with the fact we actually felt like the whole country was fully behind the team and they actually had a chance...in those days England was as important to me as Chelsea and my answer would have been WC, League, EC, FA,LC,

Totally different to now when we have an Italian manager picking the same players and basically (at this time) playing the same way we did under the last man who at least in my book was the right nationality to run the team.

England seems to be a country that cant as fans get behind a team made up of players from opposing teams, I have mates that support Man Utd that think Rooney is the best striker we have had for years (lol) but slag off John Terry as not being captains materiel and Joe Cole and the other Chelsea players,

It seems us english find it hard do put our club loyalties aside long enough to support our Country and thats a shame.

on a side note....does anyone remember the England song in the seventies ?...I think it was the B side of Back Home, all I remember is "Martin to Ossie and bang"

England winning the World Cup is now in mystical proportions, in the same way as when we first considered whether we could win the league. Its a 'goosebumps' moment.

Champions league is almost as high. A true pinacle and 'Holy Grail', but i do not think I ever believed we could do it last season, even in the final. It was like being a Chelsea fan in the old days. Whatever good was going on, you always knew that something was going to come along and bugger it up. :)

The league is important, but the cups, even the FA Cups is just 'icing' now. Not that bothered. It's nice to do but...not important.

I tend to think badly of anyone who is not 'bothered' about how their country does, to me they are in the same envelope as those that say 'well I don't support any team as such, I just like good football'. I.E Dickheads (potential Arsenal fans).

For me the heart is dominated by Lions, the three Lions of my birth and the Lion Rampant of my club. I would not want it any oher way. :o :Whistle:

I am in the camp of those who don't give a rat's ars* about England any more. I used to care a whole lot more but agree it should be an English manager for one, and secondly since the players don't care much I don't see why I should. England in the 90s were the best we had in a long time. By rights and on paper we should be way better than we are.

However, it's always been club before country for me.

It's all about Chelsea, although an England WC victory with JT as Captain & Lamps, Cole's J + A plus Sinclair in the squad would be pretty sweet victory :wub:

I could'nt place it in any order but England is very important to me.

In the past I have been very frustrated with England managers for not picking our players.

There are things I dont like about England.......like the way the press hype it up,I hate the people who run the FA and some of the f**king mugs who follow the country.

But it means a hell of a lot and we need to take something on wednesday night in Croatia!!

I as always will be watching the England team on Wednesday.

If it wasn't for the two Coles, JT, Lampard and Bridge I honestly couldn't care whether England won or lost any more.

I just support whatever national side has the Chelsea players in :wub:

i'm not sure thats down to having 2 out of the last 3 managers been foreigners, or just that england always seem a big let down, and i'm fed up of having all my hopes built up only to see them dashed, because the lads that where the 3 lions dont seem to share the same passion and pride for my country that i feel when they get the chance

I can't be arsed about England, it's only my CFC that's important.

The sooner the world governing bodies of football stand up and say "Oi, you can't have four teams, Great Britain, sort yourselves out", the better as far as I'm concerned.

One British team, uniting all four corners of the land in a concerted "Well at least we can still qualify, mathematically" when we scrape an exciting 0-0 away to Moldova. Now that would spread the gloom fairly

I might watch England if they ever got to a final but apart from that, not interested

I dont want our players injured or stressed playing Internationals

I dont want anything to do with the booing arseholes who claim to be England supporters

Nothing in the universe could make me cheer for the likes of Plug, Stevens and Shrek

Players have to appear keen to appear in Internationals and I am sure some of the them really are, but 'it aint what it used to be'

England is england for me, ok they have been sh*te for ages but its the country i live in and if i had the choice between the CL and WC id go for World Cup

Excellent post Chippy, (welcome back BTW) sums up how I feel aswell....when you have to think about weither or not your really bothered about our national side, the answer must really be deep down that we're not.....we'll that's how I've started thinking anyway, I couldn't be arsed to even watch the game at the weekend.

Surely being a supporter is about supporting 'regardless'. I support my nation and my club, and do not think that there is anyway that I could ever change that. Sure I have been pissed off with Chelsea at times, mainly when we played uber-long-ball under Porterfield, when we had Jokanovic in the team and when Ken sacked Ruud...but Chelsea is a part of you so on you go. Likewise I am English therefore I supoort England, it is a part of me. Can not change that and would not want to. I would admit I am stragely muted when Gerrard scores an England goal, but I find praising someone from the build up helps cleanse my soul. :huh:
