He was one of the biggest champions of a certain Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and so far under our ex manager Jose mourinho, Zlatan has become a star of the Serie A (which is being slated as more exciting as the EPL), so should we have gone for Zlatan while we had the chance? I know myself and others were hesitant about Zlatan as to his personality, but I doubt how he'd be any worse than Drogba

Yes Zlatan is a talented player, that we allways knew.

But what is this writing off of Drogba?....

Were you writing off Lampard at the start of the season, and Ballack after his first season too?

Drogba is a champion player, form is temporary, class is permanent. I've heart nothing to suggest Drogba's lost any of his strength or pace as players do when they get older. So baring that, his the same Didier Drogba he was two seasons ago when he was top scorer.

PS. Nobody should ever listen to BrianM :P

Zlatan for the first time of his career has a manager he listens to and looks up to IMO. It usually means good results. And he has aged as well which should help.

Actually I don't think Drogba is managers worst nightmare. I bet he trains well. He is sometimes an as*hole in the press and has some irritating antics on the pitch but I bet managers love his workrate and passion on the field as well as his goalscoring skills.

Both Drogba and Anelka are better players than Ibrahimovic.

Just because he is having success under Jose in Italy, it doesnt mean he would of been a success under Jose in England.

I'm still of the opinion that both Anelka and Drogba could still be a legendary partnership for us over the next few seasons.

Zlatan who ?

Both Drogba and Anelka are better players than Ibrahimovic.

They're probably more lethal goalscorers, but I think Zlatan is head and shoulders above both of them when it comes to creativity and skill. And he's not just a showpony as he manages to do something useful with those tricks. He's just one of those players that can create a goal out of nothing. That is something you can't say about Anelka.

I agree that Zlatan is more skillful than either of them, but I think it's a tad unfair to say that neither Drogs or Anelka can create a goal out of nothing.

Anelka has scored many a 30 yard screamer in his time (admittedly not for us just yet) and (off the top of my head) Didier's world class turn and half-volley vs L*verpool at the Bridge or 40 yarder vs Everton away are both examples when he has created something out of nothing.

There's a reason I said it's something you can't say about Anelka. I know Drogba is capable of it, but at the moment Anelka just seems to depend on others to provide him with good passes. Anelka's got good movement and his positioning is good, which is why he's been in the right place at the right time so often this season. At the moment it seems that his game is all about doing the simple things well, which is all good as it seems to get us goals.

I think Zlatan is a first class talent, but the brilliance of Jose is that he could blend a bunch of headcases and team players together well

Now that he's gone, I fear for the effect the headcases can have in the dressing room. This is the primary reason I want Drogba gone despite his talent. I just dont trust him anymore. Suffice it to say that unless I have his personality very mistaken, the same goes for Zlatan.

I think Jose will surely get the best out of him though

as good a player as he is, hes also a liability with his ego. theres no doubting hes an extremely talented footballer, but seemingly only when it suits him. im sure it must be very frustrating having him in your side, from the sublime to the ridiculous.

I'm sorry, but where in my post do I write off Drogba? I was merely saying the Zlatan was not favoured due to his personality (although we all knew he was a good player), and that his PERSONALITY can't be any worse then that of Drogba? At no point do I mention Drogba's ability

And yes HE'S the same Drogba when he was top scorer, but his attitude has always been annoying to me

The day I start listening to anything BrianM says is the day I start supporting Liverpool - like never ever.

I listened to Brian M once.

And I still have the scars from that leather micro-thong. Worst wedgie of my life. Can never sit in a reclining chair again.

What happened to Brian M. Did he have one of scripts sell for a big price? Haven't seen a post from him in a while.

Brian took a break from one of his 48 specialist career choices, all of which he excelled at, and decided it was time to add another skill to his CV.

As we would expect it took no time for him to reach the top of his new profession and he has been honoured at town, state, and country wide level with world wide acclaim expected in the near future.

Or so he told everyone! The Shed End Bigot, now officially the most popular newspaper not to have been published this year, has evidence to the contrary...
