was the worst thing chelsea could of done

he took with him the passion, we are so predictable now, giving away stupid goals, failing to break teams down

we play better football now, but it isnt getting results, we cant win the big games, we cant win at home and now we cant win away, teams have found us out, atleast under mourinho we were never found out

we have been terrible in the champs league, losing 3-1 to roma? terrible!

whats the point in deco? since his injury hes been a passenger, 2 corners today, both failing to beat the first man, what a joke!

you could see the players playing with passion under mourinho, they wanted to win for him, but under scolari they dont seem interested

what happend to our great home record? two losses at home already!

bring back the special one before its too late :(

As much as we all loved Jose, I think it was right for him to go. He did install confidence in the team that was clearly carried on by Grant, but he also helped to make everyone hate us, and put himself on a level he felt was bigger than the club...that is where the problems started. Presonally I think what we did wrong was letting him go when we did, and in the manner we did.

I also think we have not replaced him with the right person, yet. He'll never come back, so lets just get over that

quite simply, Jose got us to the promised land of winning the league. Its up to everyone else, the players, management, etc, to take it from there

He did alot for this club, but he isnt the be all and end all. If the players can only perform at top level for one man, then we need new players

Mate, it's pointless stating the obvious (especially on these forums :P

Jose has gone, along with everything the 'New Chelsea' was supposed to bring.

It's in the past, but it's clear to us all, or should be, that the signings of Ballack n Shevchenko and not bringing in January signings to cover a depleted defence lead to the boardroom unrest and the likes of Arneson to undermind the structure he was building throughout the playing staff.

There is nothing to gain in shouting from the rooftops that he should come back, he won't be given the chance and he wouldn't take it up if offered it anyway.

He will win trophies in Italy and knock Manure out of the Champions League, win the Premiership with another club in England and do the same in Spain before he goes into International retirement.

Get your voice and opinions in like me, Peter Kenyon is the problem, always has been and always will be until the fans get him sacked.

There's me stating the obvious, see it doesn't work :D

I dont think ive disagreed with a post as much as this one. When Mourinho left we were playing sh*t and had definatly been found out, there were regularly games where we would only create one or two chances (just like there have been recently. We had drawn alot of games in the last year he was here. There were many times under jose where his favourites were playing crap yet he left them on (ash cole, lampard terry, drogba etc) so the no passengers under mourinho argument is bollocks.

And there were MANY times where i found myself screaming at the TV because i felt the players (and managment) werent putting in the effort, one game in particular that i remember was away at villa in the 06-07 season, man u had drawn earlier and we had the chance to go top it was a 0-0 draw both teams playes crap yet our players showed no passion or effort whatsoever.

I was disapointed when he left but over the year ive decided i'm glad he's gone, we just haven't found the right replacement yet

 totally agree, and seeing as though this thread was started directly after an away draw to fulham, id like to remind people of this result in 2005 under jose just to show even the great jose wasnt infallable. - 2005/06 Fulham won 1-0

Yep. Wasn't that the match where he subbed Joe Cole and SWP after about 30 minutes? He'd have probably done the same today if he'd still been here on the evidence of Joe's first half display!!

I think what we miss with Jose was the winning mentality he instilled in the players. That said, the team had more of a hunger as they hadn't won the premiership before. The saying goes that it's a lot more difficult to keep winning year after year than winning the first.

Where mourinho went wrong was getting rid of the likes of Eidur, Tiaggo and Duffer and allowing (?) Ballack and Sheva to come in. The squad lost it's balance and something else too. Sometimes you can't put your finger on it but looking back, that squad was like one big happy family that won and lost together but always looked like coming through. Even when players like Duffer and Eidur are not playing well and perhaps not making the first 11, they were still playing a part.

I just don't think the likes of Ballack & Sheva do and now we have players like Deco, Malouda and Kalou who have made maters a lot worse. They just don't seem like "team players" now and it's no use blaming Scolari soley for this, the rot had started under Mourinho.

I know we are still up there and who knows, if Carvalho and JT can re-form that partnership and Essien comes back things could be okay, but deep down I think we'll end up with nothing this season and can see a number of defeats the way we are playing at present. So without further f**king about, I would NOW bring in the youngsters - especially Kakuta. We cannot continue to play a midfield of Lamps, Deco and Ballack and Malouda and Kalou never have been good enough and NEVER WILL BE.

Yeah but even Mourinho can't deal with the tactical might of CHRIS COLEMAN.

Seriously, if that had been today's team, we'd have lost at least 6-0. Scolari's a rank amateur compared to COLEMAN. ;)

as for jose, yeah he went ott at times but the main reason we were hated is cos we were winners...scolari (like his predecessors ranieri and Grant) is liked outside sb, but he doesn't bring that winning feeling to me (or the players it seems) at the moment.

Mate, just wanted to lend your sentiments my support. I never wanted him to leave, and I'd take him back with open arms. I never wanted "pretty football" at the expense of winning, a debate while Jose was at the helm. We had a "persona" in our play back then, something we lack now - we look like the bloody Arse with less cutting edge.

Anyway, my post is borne purely out of frustration as opposed to out of harboring any real hopes of Jose returning, certainly not anytime soon. But I will certainly defend Jose to the hilt. I believe it went t*ts up mostly from other peoples' meddling as opposed to anything Jose did. Just look at Inter sitting pretty atop the Calcio Series A and us stumbling along in an EPL just crying out for someone to take it by the scruff of the neck. It's not THAT difficult to spot quality and I always find it difficult to accept that we "let him go".

Cheers,

Butch

jack, Nibs, you guys really hit the head on the nail with those posts. Nice job

I especially liked this:

Where mourinho went wrong was getting rid of the likes of Eidur, Tiaggo and Duffer and allowing (?) Ballack and Sheva to come in. The squad lost it's balance and something else too. Sometimes you can't put your finger on it but looking back, that squad was like one big happy family that won and lost together but always looked like coming through. That is entirely accurate. As jack pointed out, the final days under Mourinho, things couldnt get lower

-we had a terrible home crowd which gave no support against Rosenborg, and put in a toothless performance

-Ballack and Sheva were still both seen as terrible, abysmal wastes of money to add to SWP and A. Cole

-our CL campaign was dead in the water after two games

-we knew things were not alright within the club structure, but got no answers until we saw Jose's resignation on SSN

I think, Nibs, you are correct in saying that the squad boys of those years, Eidur, Duffer, Tiago, were far better team players than what we have now. For one they had the quality and the workrate, and just like you said it even when they didnt they knew how to put in the effort to fake it. On top of that, it was obvious to anyone they were proud to play for Chelsea and for Jose

Guys like Ballack and Deco have already made their names in football. They are already going to remembered. Hell, the same could be said of Frank and JT. And when players get comfortable, the will to win has got to suffer.

Scolari and management need to get real. Capable and committed players only. Anyone who wants to phone it in just stay in the stands. Because im sure Miro Stoch or Michael Mancienne are willing to give 110%

Lets not forget, Jose also Brought Kalou & Malouda, two players who I think are causing our main problems because they can't hit a barn door.

No, they were Roman's/Kenyon's/Arnesen's/Somebody Else's signings. Just like Kezman,Del Horno,Jarosik,Maniche and all others who never amounted to sh*t in a blue shirt. Jose was a messiah, he could do no wrong.
