Going to Notts County on loan, initially for a month but with the expectation that the deal will be extended to the end of the season:

He has also just won the Irish International U19 player of the year for what it's worth.

Have been very impressed by what i've seen of Conor Clifford. Outstanding goal to win the youth cup last year.
I hope we see him in the first team squad next year. He is very similar in style to Frank. Frankie isn't getting any younger now ....natural successor? Would love to see our youth team products given a chance.

man, why such a rush of promising youth at once....i mean, a nice problem to have, but imagine how much better it would of been, in terms of giving them chances, if they'd of been spaced out by a few more years!

Still to make his Chelsea first team debut, he's been called up to the senior senior Republic of Ireland squad. From the official site:

CLIFFORD'S CALL
Conor Clifford has been called into the senior Republic of Ireland squad for the first time.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who still awaits his Chelsea debut, will link up with Giovanni Trapattoni's men for their friendly with Croatia in Dublin after playing for the Under 21s against Austria in Sligo tonight.
Clifford, who has had spells on loan with Notts County and Plymouth, is required in the senior squad after a number of midfielders pulled out of the game.
In other news, John Mikel Obi has pulled out of Nigeria's friendly with Ghana in Watford, while John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole will no longer be in action against Holland after that friendly at Wembley was called off for safety reasons.
Jeffrey Bruma, on loan at Hamburg, was a part of the Dutch squad for that game also.

Excellent news for a player that I think is massively underrated at Chelsea

Great to hear he's been called up but we've got a very weak midfield at the best of times and we're riddled with injuries at the moment. He's obviously not well rated by Trapattoni the likes of Walters, Wilson , James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman, Keith Fahey and Damien Delaney needed to get injured before he was considered for a call-up.
Still Andy Reid was snubbed by the man for little to know reason, so he's not perfect. Hope the young lad gets on and plays well

Would like to see him get a chance this year, even if it's only in the Carling Cup. He's got something about him that reminds me a little of Lamps and a little of Wisey. Could be a decent player.

Excellent, saw him on Saturday and he's a very hard worker - good to see.

Only played only one half of the Under 21's game last night so may well make possibly a substitute appearance for the senior team tonight. The loan spells of last season were very mixed for him. Joined two struggling teams and was excellent at Plymouth, even winning the supporters 'Player of the Month'. They wanted to extend the loan but their financial troubles meant a FA transfer and loan deal embargo. Notts County was different. Rarely got a start and was played out of position on the right flank. I frankly don't think much of our loaning out policy and hope he's given a chance with us this season. AVB's initial buys at least show the youth may well feature far more than previously.
