I can't understand why people are so surprised at the verdict. Just about every legal commentator (rather than newspaper hacks) has been saying for a while that the prosecution case is flimsy.

Proving tax evasion rather than tax avoidance is bloody difficult so with a weak case it always appeared likely he would be cleared.

If anything should be questioned it is the credibility of the people who decided this case was fit to go to court.
