Well this is all well and good, a very long and in-depth discussion about whether we were good or bad, lucky or unlucky, left in the doldrums by a deserting JM or primed by the same JM for great things with the wonderful squad he assembled and trained to perfection. What you are all missing is the fact the the ONLY reason we lost on Saturday was down to Loz and his supply of haunted shirts. For some years now, I have always worn the same shirt, a grey CFC The Blues t-shirt with a lion on it whenever I have watched a match, either at the Bridge or live on the telly. I have never seen us lose while wearing that shirt. Some time ago, Loz told me that if I stroked his puppy really nicely, he would give me a nice Chelsea t-shirt. So, I stroked, apparently nicely enough, and the t-shirt arrived in the post. The first game I watched wearing it instead of my lucky shirt was the bar steward Spuds last season. I wore it again when we played Villa and the Mancs this season, as I'm not superstitious about these things, oh no sirree!. Can you see a pattern emerging here? Now then, I wore the original lucky shirt (remember that one?) to the Valencia game last week, and gave the wife very strict instructions that it was to be washed and dried ready for Sunday. She let me down, housekeeping-wise, so what was I to do? As Bluebeard has already identified, the Alzheimers is playing more of a part in my life these days than is strictly good, so, on Sunday, I wore the cursed shirt supplied by Loz. And we all know what the result of that was. So, enough blaming Big Pete for his feckless swatting at a ball my kitten could have caught, enough blaming Sweepy for shooting when he should have passed and for passing to the corner flag when he should have shot, enough blaming Sheva for not being 5 years younger, enough blaming AG for not being JM and JM for not being still here. It was all Loz's fault for supplying jinxed apparel to forgetful old men! Kev PS - I will have the original lucky t-shirt on on Wednesday at the Bridge, but I fear that the Loz-effect might have f**ked that one too now

What was lacklustre about Tuesday night? We hit the woodwork I don't know how many times, we played some nice football and it was effing freezing! OK - just got back from the Bridge and agree with a lot of what has been said, with a couple of buts. Don't know what the cameras were showeing, but Drogs was more disinterested today than I have seen him for a long time. essien had a bit of a mare, Bridgey was immense both halfs, and Joe was working very hard and got very little from the ref. Alex is a very very lucky boy for the pull back, but if the schalke player had gone down slightly less theatrically Alex would have walked and they would have got a penalty. AND - The East Upper is a DIRE place to sit - women next to me were quite chatty but had it in for Malouda in a big way and left 10 minutes before the end. Bloke on the other side was making copious notes about substitutions and everything and then reading the paper between times - didn't even stand up when Didi scored the second. Finally, another sh*te night for the turnstile staff - I got to the Bridge at 7:30 and queued and queued and queued - missed the first goal and there were several hundred behind me. Crowd were quite loud at the beginning but that died down half way through the first half - Schalke fans were V loud all the way through.
