Gem
The return leg... I believe if we win we go through? Although I was at the Bridge when we beat them a week or so ago, I can't really say I saw their tactics in full flow. They gave us a good game in the second half, but (much like Wigan) the second goal killed them off and alas, the game died too. It will be a tough trip, most away ties are, but I'm predicting... a 2-0 victory to us. Lamps and SWP to get the goals.

Just had a look at the table and I don't think it means we are 100% through but we would be very close! It would give us 10 points and it is possible for Rosenborg to finish on 10 by beating Schalke and us and losing to Valencia which would mean Valencia could end with 12 by beating Rosenborg, us and Schalke. This would see us in 3rd spot as Rosenborg would go through ahead o us as their results against us would be better. So not mathematically safe but it would take a run of very unexpected results for us not to qualify.

JT26CFC
if Kevin Kuryani is fit to play he's really the main threat for shalke, other than that i'd expect a win. witht he form that Chelsea's on i think we'll get through. As long as Ben Haim doesn't play like cr*p like he did against Wigan
loz
Apparently it is touch and go whether Kuryani is going to be fit as he went off injured when they played no Friday night.

Scott
Does Grant play it safe or go for the goals? I know what TSO would do. I'll go 2-1 to the Chelsea, Maluda early, Frankie late.
BlueBosnian
We are much stronger than Schalke. We can play reserves and still beat them in my opinion. I would really like a win, but even a draw won't be that bad since it leaves us first anyway. But I would be really mad if we lose. 3:1 Chelsea. JT26CFC
It just totally hit me right now (yes, Gerrard hit me with his car......again)but seriously. If anyone remembers the ground that chelsea vs. Shalke will be is at the stadium where Lampard had missed the penalty shot after extra time in the 2006 world cup. Hopefully Lamps will be able to forget about that experience and score a goal(s)
evissy
I think it will be a tough contest. I hope so anyway. Schalke is good/better playing home so we are not just cruising to victory. Kuranyi's injury sure is big blow to them since there were really no threat on our defence at Bridge earlier. Someone hit the post if I can remember... I predict 1-2 or 2-3 to us. ------------Cech Belletti-Riccy-Alex-Bridge ------------Maka ----Essien---------Lamps --------Joey -----Drogba-----Malouda I think Avram will rotate and play Joey and Malouda instead of SWP and Kalou.. evissy
Could even give drogs a rest and start with Kalou or Sheva. Sheva and Pizza might play. Pizza knows the opponent best and can serve Schalke some of his world known 'quattro stagione' while their defence is big and slow Sheva's newly trained legs will carry him past the defenders with ease. My updated prediction is 0-6 to us, goals shared between Pizza and Sheva.

yorkleyblue
f**king typical ITV though - Bin-dippers, bottom of their group and playing crap, get shown on the main ITV channel with all of the Elton Welsby-esque "magnificent european anfield bollox" bullsh*t, whilst my CFC, top of their group and 12 goals in their last three matches get relegated to ITV Dave or ITV 69 or somesuch! Glad I don't pay a licence fee to ITV Kev

Here in Finland a miracle did happen. I paid, for the first time in my life, an obligatory TV 'licence'. It is for financing our national television channels 1 and 2 and they SHOW Chelsea game live!! And what makes it even more spectacular is that Liverscum has a game as well. They always show Liverscum games because a finnish player plays there. Kev123
My updated prediction is 0-6 to us, goals shared between Pizza and Sheva. Think that's just a little over-optimisitc mate, 0-6 away to Schalke would be our most amazing victory ever in Europe. Yet a-f**king-gain both TalkScouse and 5Live are covering those red shirted rat-munching scouse scumbags, and unfortunately I, like most suckers in this country, do pay a licence fee to BB-f**king-C. And guess whatg else? It's not on 5Live extra either. The BBC, in their wisdom, are covering ... Bristol City v Charlton Athletic. No offence to either of these teams, but is that a f**king insult or what?
