  1. Brian Do you mean that the Taffies would all have AK47's and the Zulu warriors would be dressed in ghetto clothes and be armed with Mac10's? Kev BTW - Zulu was the first time I can remember seeing more than two bare naked lady breasts at the same time
  2. Ooops - sorry! The way I see Zulu, which is in my top three films ever (at the moment!) it is mainly told through the POV of the privates, specifically Hook and the bloke who was really a singer! And anyway, Titanic is the brutal story of an unprovoked attack by a boat load of pikeys on an innocent iceberg going about its floaty business But I guess you are right - but I still wouldn't change a thing about Zulu though! Kev PS - was I a bit rambling there?
  3. some in-depth photos at http://www.arsenal.vitalfootball.co.uk/ ... sp?a=74793 Also, have a look at the pictures on page 3! Oooh-errrr missis! Kev
  4. Isn't that Zulu???? Exactly???
  5. oh dear, oh dear, oh dear I gotta come back to this thread, but haven't got the time at the moment - will edit this later OK, not much to add I suppose. The eighties were a drab and dire period in the history of music, and so I suppose that The Smiths epitomise that era perfectly. Marr was an Ok-ish sort of player, but not GREAT, probably not in the top 100 (though that's possibly another poll!) And the lyrics were aimed at and gobbled up by the bed-sit crowd. I'm sorry, but I still hold onto the Blunt comparison - sad, tuneless slit-your-wrists music performed by a singer with very little range in something akin to a monotone. Now where have I heard that before? Oh, yeah! Morrissey! Without Morrissey, there could have been no Blunt, or any number of no-talent chancers. However, I also have a view about the Pistols, who started when I was a lad. Regardless of who was or was not an original member, or what influence Mclaren had or didn't have, the Pistols did not even reach the heights of mediocre, musically. Why they were great and SUCH an influence was their attitude and self-publicity. To me, and to many like me, they said "f**k it, I can do that, I can make records, and the days of the stadium-rock dinosaur are DEAD" They were wrong, but they changed the outlook and attitudes of the world. That's why the Pistols ARE an influence for good, even now, whilst I do not believe The Smiths are or ever were. Oh, and Chickory Tip KNEW how to write and perform a good three-minute pop tune! Kev PS BJD - apologies not necessary, not pompous, no tosserage and no snobbery! I think it might be an age thing
  6. Just because a shed load of sad w**kers sitting in bedsits listening to then went off and inflicted their dire, drab and mournful wailings upon the world, encouraged by a music press that makes the Great British Football "Journalist" look like James Joyce, and further encouraged by a faddist and trend-driven, Z-list obsessed bunch of "style gurus" does not make it either right, funny, big, clever or acceptable.Your Honour, the prosecution presents Exhibit A - James Blunt Exhibit B - Badly Sung and Written Songs Exhibit C - The Morrisey "Revival" embarrassing fiasco Nuff Said If we are being truly honest, The Smiths were always an average pub band who, if they were playing for free in the Dog and Duck, you would not hang around for their second set unless you thought that you REALLY had scored with the new barmaid with the low-cut tee-shirt. They always appeared to me to be a band of very little talent who believed the hype generated by the desperate need of the "Madchester, Hacienda is cool, at least we're not scouse" literati to make someone famous. The musical equivalent of Jade Goody, they are and were as influential and acclaimed as Chickory Tip everywhere outside of the minds of Time Out journos and students, and, and this is the most damning condemnation of the Smiths, they were DIRECTLY responsible for Travis. I played a Smiths CD over the grave of Marvin Gaye in 1986 and the f**ker is still spinning now Kev
  7. I might be a sad old f**ker, but I have three replica shirts, that I have had for ages. One is the Autoglass one with the nice collar, one is a bright yellow Autoglass away and the other one is the beautiful, sexy, slate grey and orange away shirt that is two sizes too big! Don't think I will be buying a new one this season either Kev PS At the Charity Shield against the dippers last year, a group of them thought it would be so very witty to sing "There's only one Di Matteo". Oh how we laughed! The spirit of Tarby lives on in the legendary scouse wit (copyright reserved!)

One that stuck in my mind ever since I saw it was the guy riding a surf-board type thingy into a planet on the wave of an atomic explosion at the end of Dark Star Kev

Oh children, children, children I know there are weeks and weeks until the football starts, but please, just get a room if you want to carry on this "manly" flirting banter! Jeez! kev
  10. maybe Barn- hate runs at different levels - I'd be happy if the City of Leeds was demolished too Kev
  11. Apparently Leeds 'may not start next season' The End of sh*te We can but hope! kev
  12. I'd have thought both mate
  13. I knew there would be a genius in excuses somewhere in here!
  14. I try Brian, but never acheive your standards mate. Anyway, I though the American Pie series was Hollywood's attempt to match the wonderful Carry On series Kev
  15. She has mentioned that that would be the only insensitive part. The part that mattered appeared to be extremely sensitive apparently. Hang on. What's that dear? "Hair-trigger?" Will Brian know what you mean? Oh, OK! Anyway, she also says that she thought you were trying to find the Daz, to get the unfortunate stain out of your trousers before it dried, so you are forgiven and forgotten kev
  16. Albert Ferrer,Roberto Di Matteo, Mark Hughes, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Frank Leboeuf,Bixente Lizarazu,Alessandro Costacurta, Leonardo, Roberto Baggio,Dennis Bergkamp, Franco Baresi should be enough reasons to be there! Looking forward to it. The wife starts a new job that day, so I have to find a way to explain why I won't be waiting at home ready to hear all about it! Ho-hum, never mind, time I traded her in anyway! Kev
  17. If they'd won a few more games of FOOTBALL the situation wouldn't have arisen and we wouldn't have the Pikeys in the EPL next season. That said, they are a whinging load of muppets. I know, I used to work up the god-forsaken place. I got physically chucked out of a pub in Sheffield centre one time for politely asking the barman to fill my pint up to the top, as there appeared to be about two inches of frothy stuff on the top, and pleasantly suggesting that maybe, possibly, the barrel needed changing as it was obviously just about to run out! Cue virulent tirade of offensive remarks along the lines of "You cheeky cockney bar steward" (I'm from near Bristol and really really do sound like it too!) and the arrival of some huge ape in a suit, obviously too stupid to go down the mines so he got a job as a "doorman", and out I flew! Didn't even get to drink my 1/3rd of a pint of foul muck. Still, at least I didn't pay for it! That WOULD have been a waste of 47p And don't even get me started on the Yorkshire Ripper kev
  18. Oh dear oh dear oh dear Rob using an uneducated person's quote of the use of the incorrect word to make a pretty petty and pedantic point just compounds the matter! I'd quit while you are behind if it was me mate! kev
  19. Same time next week, Mrs. Y? I just had a word with her Brian, she said it was so disappointing last time she's going to stick with her candle for next week, but thanks anyway, and she hopes you find the right man some day kev
  20. Perhaps you aren't rubbing him enough Brian
  21. A gooner at work has just sent me this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8qmrQ8786k Apparently they are buying a Kezman-a-like for between ?6 million and ?16.5 million, depending on which web-site you look at Kev
  22. Now THAT would be a team worth watching - If only to see the infighting when Puyol once again fails to stop anybody who crosses the halfway line into Barca's half Kev
  23. Yep, probably Temple Meads - about a mile and a half, maybe two up to the Fishponds Road, unless you did the local train stuff, but TM would have been where the Paddington train came in in those days, and the specials as well. Pikey Scum are more out past Bedminster way. You should have tried St Pauls, great Jamaican cafes and loads of reggae clubs and pubs - you just needed someone to show you which ones white boys like you could go into and which ones you couldn't (Though in those days there weren't much in the way of guns and the like - straight-razors were about the worst down there! - I wouldn't go down these days though!) Stay Blue and C'Mon You Rovers! Kev
  24. That was my first choice, but I couldn't get the webcam started in time
  25. How can I start a poll? It needs to be "Brian M's infatuation with finding and posting derogatory articles about Fat Frank at the moment, or starting polls like this one" Is it a) Just a jolly swagman, having a bit of fun? B) Not very nice, turning on one of the clubs best servants in recent years? c) Starting to get boring, given that NOBODY here knows WTF is going on with negotiations or offers, or d) A way of jacking up the number of posts made to try to qualify for as big a number of balls as Gem? How do I do that then? Kev
