  1. tell em to sod off TT. I don't bet but I am fascinated by your posts and have missed them lately! Keep it up mate Kev Here, here. I do have a small punt every now and then and like reading your tips TT. I also find it interesting when you let us know how much you're up or down over the course of the season. I'd like to ask do you do the horses/dogs as well, or bet on any other sports ?
  2. I apologise for the end of my previous response Syd. It was uncalled for. But this United "always attack" and go for broke myth really is a media invention. The may posess players with plenty of attacking flair, but they do not always play that way. And Fergie doesn't always set the formation up to play that way either. Your argument falls down as soon as you look at their attacking intent 2nd half against us. They went 1-0 up in the first 45, (quite rightly with the run of play at the time). But then, right from the start of the second half, got everyone behind the ball and shut up shop in the hope of hitting us on the counter. Hence, the second 45 was like the Alamo and totally handed the initiative to us. And, (and this is the really good bit), they were at home !!!! Against Le Arse they started with a five man midfield with Rooney deployed..................... wide on the left !!! Another point worth mentioning is that Scholes has had a good season, but throughout, he has normally held a deeper midfield position than at any time in his career.
  3. Matey Is that the same positive attitude we saw at Fanfield today ? And 2nd half at the Theatre of Muppets against us. And Arse. And at Fulham. And....... They are no more attacking than any other team, unless circumstances dictate. G4 had it right all along. You do talk some bollocks.
  4. G4, this the EPL not Serie A.
  5. Liked Red Nose's honesty after the game when he admitted they had rode their luck in recent weeks. At Fulham and today they got wins out of games they should have lost. Although to be fair they could've had a 2nd half penno for the trip on HaHa. So yes, while they've had their slice of luck along the way. And while I still think us having major, long-term injuries to key players has handicapped us massively, we should be big enough to congratulate them on winning the EPL title.
  6. Well done Didi. Throughly deserved. Kevin Davies will never win this honour. Carries on the way he has all season and he must be a real contender for World Player Of The Year.
  7. Transfer - Shed to the benches - was a quid I think.

Have to agree there. Frankly, if Robben could stay fit and show any measure of consistency in terms of both his commitment and level of performance, he'd pick himself

  10. BB I was trying to think if I've ever seen an away team 3-0 up inside six minutes before. Don't think I have. And it wasn't like United played great it was that Reading defended like schoolboys on dope. Add in a keeper that couldn't hold a party and there's the three goals. In fact, just like at Fulham, United didn't play well at all. Fair enough Red Nose rested a lot of players but the situation got so twitchy near the end, he had to throw on Shrek and Ronaldo.
  11. I was watching the Reading V Man U FA Cup replay. But after six minutes I rather lost my appetite for it.
  12. name and shame G I'm not sure. Can't 4 the life of me remember who it was. Think Wicksy might know though.
  13. Having been to the Millenium stadium for our two previous Cup Finals, I sold my ticket and decided not to go on Sunday because I knew the travel chaos there would be. My mates that went, all stayed over on the Saturday and Sunday night and travelled back Monday. Unfortunately, I couldn't do that. I would have had to have come back straight after the match. When we played Arsenal in the FA Cup at Cardiff we stayed at a country club near Bristol the night before and thought we'd simply hop on a train early on the morning of the game. No chance. We ended up having to get a taxi from Bristol to Cardiff. And that took farking ages because of the road choas. Some people I know who travelled down by rented limo, took over five and a half hours to get home after the game because of the traffic nightmare ! Due to the parking restrictions around the Bridge these days, we travel to every home game by train and I honestly can't remember the last time I managed to get a seat on a Saturday morning service. Sometimes trains arrive at the platform with only three carriages ! As you can imagine these are absolutely rammed. On top of that there is virtually always some kind of maintenance work going on over the weekend period which results in some train services being delayed or abandoned altogether. I have been lucky enough to have gone to many games abroad and nearly always use the public transport system. Invariably, in France, Germany, Italy it has been a pleasure with cheap fares, clean trains/buses, and a punctual, reliable service. In comparision Britain is a third world country with no real public transport service and a crumbling infrastructure. IMO, our public transport system is a sad refelection of this country as a whole today.
  14. Wouldn't give Carvalho MOTM. Felt he was all over the place for Walcott's goal. Chasing the ball around like a school kid rather than holding his position and marking anyone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDz783DexXs Drogs MOTM for me. I not usually the biggest "Ballack Basher" but agree with most on here who said Ballack was poor. One of the first things he did in the game was give the ball away under no pressure, and he didn't get alot better from there.
  15. ?10 on Sheva to get 30+ next season Loz ?
  16. Well, lets face it. The first thread should never have been deleted. Chelsea forwards who have scored 30+ goals in the top flight ?
  17. just replied to c3blu's topic in General Chelsea FC
He was reasonably decent Mod and German Ballack. Next step. The full 90 minutes.
  18. just replied to c3blu's topic in General Chelsea FC
The reference to Cole as a "defensive liability" is a red herring Loz. We both know he worked on that part of his game, and it's a criticism that can no longer be levelled at him. And hey, if little 'oul Joe did it, so can Robben. If he really wants to be a regular, and a "team player" Robben will add that to his game no sweat. But I'm tired of waiting Loz. A cameo performance at home against an already beaten 'boro, or a last minute winner against Wigan doesn't impress me half as much as Ronaldo's consistency and determination for United when it really matters. Yes, when he went off Porto could defend further forward. Why ? Because Robben has .............pace. It would have been the same with SWP.

The 04/05 season didn't prove that. You can't keep harping back to that season Mod. 2004 is a long time ago. And you can't keep playing the injury card. Because if you remember, he was injured alot in that first season. What actually made his reputation in that season was the run of five goals in succesive games. Imagine if he hadn't had that initial impact. From what he has produced since he'd be judged as SWP MK II, and by Christ, rightly so. As for key to winning trophies this year ! What, more key than Cech ? Than Lamps ? Than Maka ? Than JT ? What has he done, since that first season, to make that statement true ? Have you ever considered that, injuries aside, he has been sussed out ? Clever managers know how to stifle him tactically? Defenders, top quality defenders, know how to handle him ? Porto ? Jose took him off because he knows, (from experience), he is a frigging defensive liability. And it was exactly the right move because he needed to shackle Quaresma. And Quaresma was far more dangerous than Robben. Tell you what, lets watch the game tomorrow. If Whinger plays the kids and Robben rips their back four to shreds I'll hold my hands up and become a believer. But if Robben fails to deliever, (yet again in a big game), you hold yours up and admit he's not the messiah, he's just a very naughty boy. It's time for us to stop arguing about him and making excuses Mod. Stand up Robben and prove you're the real deal. Cardiff, tomorrow. Be there.
  20. just replied to c3blu's topic in General Chelsea FC
It's not simply about him scoring the winning goal today Mod. It's about how he played in a match where the team as whole under performed, and the way he's been playing all season. He was, (as he has been for much of this season), their best out-field player. Surely you're not going to argue that Robben is even close to being the same player for us that Ronaldo currently is for United ? There is no comparison in terms of their consistency and overall effectiveness. Like it or not Ronaldo has been doing the "biz" all season for Man U and is a key player for them. And today, when the team were performing well below par, him and Van Der Sar stepped up and made the difference. Has there ever been a game when we've been able to say the same of Robben in similar circumstances. Especially, in such an important game. Frankly I'm sick of arguing about the bloke. If some people believe Robben is the messiah, fine. I'm chuffed for them. Because I really want to believe that as well. I want to love Robben the way I did Pat Nevin, the way my dad did Charlie Cooke. But for that to happen he has to: 1. Get fit and stay farking fit. 2. Grow some bollocks and get stuck in. 3. Get some bloody consistency in his levels of performance. 4. Produce the goods in the big games, (tomorrow being a good place to start). 5. Convert his much talked about, undoubted "potential" into something more tanigible. 6. Start being the player for us that Ronaldo is for United.
  21. I always try to be optimistic Brit, but I think that result right there has won it for them. If they had dropped points today, (and Fulham fully deserved all three), then I think it would have made them wobble for next week's trip to Liverplod. But to win a game like that, and in that fashion, it will have their confidence and self-belief soaring.
  22. http://www.csrforums2.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=38363#38363 Should have been put in this forum though.

How the hell did Man U win that game ? Ronaldo and Van Der Sar that's how.
  24. just replied to c3blu's topic in General Chelsea FC
Cristiano Ronaldo has just won the game for Man U against Foolham. And in all likelyhood the title. A game they should never have won. A game Fulham were best in throughout. It was a superb goal out of nothing. A surging run, a wonderful finish. And he has been producing the goods like that all season. That's what top players do, produce the goods week in week out, consistently, when it really matters, when the chips are down. That's what Arjen Robben has to do to be a first choice pick at Chelsea. That's what Arjen Robben has to do to silence all the doubters. That's what Arjen Robben has to do to be a truly world class player.
  25. Oh, I don't know BB. Sure he's getting on but his game isn't based on physical effort and lung-busting runs. Positioning, timing, reading the play and using the ball simply and wisely are his strengths. And he still does those things better than most. Plus he nearly always plays well in the really big games.
