  1. was that a year ago, still remember that goal...incredible!
  2. we have plenty ammo on the bench if we need it!
  3. I think Sparky's boys will shock a depleted Liverpool side, and that Ferguson's lads will outclass the gunners. Predictions: Blackburn to win 1-0 Manure to win 2-1 Scott
  4. Arsenal's play this campaign has been very entertaining to say the least. we can, however, look at the weakness of their schedule, and the fact that it took roughly 2 moths before they were thwrown a stern test away from home. However, they showed a lot of mettle in the game up at anfield. To go down one infront of the "mighty' Kop, and then have Rafa stifle their chances by merely crowding ut the midfield/ top of the box area thus limiting their creativity infront of goal, most teams may have folded to a 1-0. However, Arsenal were a little unlucky to hit the bar twice, but more than deserved to leave with a share of the points. As for us playing them; well, it is not until December, and I think that Arsenal will have come through a couple of tough tests by then. Hopefully their confidence wont be as high (I think these cannon fodder teams that they have played so far are doing nothing short of creating a self belief of being invincible), but on the flip side, our's will be rising. I think that the team are professinal enough to realize that our job is to stay focused, and I fully believe Clarke is the lynch pin in this transition. I feel we will continue to sue our 3 person coaching staff to play entertaining football, but at the end of the day the result is what we need. Would I be disappointed in us going to Arsenal, grabbing a goal, and then shutting up shop....not at all. In the end, it is the points we need, and I really don't care how we get them Scott
  5. I went with Hoddle, although I really feel I should have given the vote to Bates, the fact that he is at Leeds now didn't allow me to vote for him. Sure he was an arrogant bar steward, and he threatened every reporter under the Sun that he would sue them, only for the very info they were about to report turn out to be true in the end...No wonder the press hates us still! However, he had a vision for Chelsea as a Football Club, and he saved us from the brink of extinction. However, I started watching Chelsea under the rule of Hoddle, and therefore he gets my vote. He had a great vision for Chelsea on the pitch, he started bringing in big name European players too, and started us off on the track of being a cosmopolitain force to be taken seriously in the league and Europe. He brought in Gullit, who brought in Vialli, who brought in Zola....it just snowballed from there. Off the pitch, it should be Bates. Make no mistake about it, had Bates not bought our club for a quid, we would have really suffered and there is now way that Roman would have looked at us further down the line. But, at the end of teh day its about the football we play, and the success we have on the pitch. For me, Hoddle started all that Scott
  6. I really hope the way Sheva took the last goal in the man citeh game shows what he is best at; being a predator, and running of the last defender. If we can play more attacking, to the point sheva isn't waasting pace and energy by dropping back into the midfield so muc, then I think he will be fine while Drogs is gone.
  7. obviously, having won the CL in recent years they are merely focusing on the premiership this year
  8. there are usually some pretty decent deals kicking about mate, try lastminute.com or some site like that. there's also another page called justlondon.com (maybe the name, I have not used it in a while) Good luck, I used to travel deon from Mull about once a season, but now I live in the states, christ knows when I'll be bvack next
  9. Terry even made comment on maka....wait, am I seriously getting into a thread about present and past player's genitalia????
  10. he's also pretty clued up on the prices of shag-a-grans
  11. I, like many, would not like to see Lampard leave, but if he is unhappy, then maybe it is best. If he stays with us, it will be for the remainder of the season due to him being cup-tied. I also think that he will stay and give 100% just to prove to potential buyers, that he is a professional footballer. I also wonder with the arrival of Ten Cate that the likes of Van Der Vaart etc isn't a real possibility. Or at least some dutch midfielder. I thin that this will be his last season, but I wish to be proved wrong Scott
  12. This was the first one I had too, then I had the Coors one, I miss my Coors one! Gave it to a mate to cheer us on in the pub (we were playing Monaco, and I was the only Chelsea fan in teh place so took some shirts down and hended them out) never got it back!!!
  13. baba had trouble with curfew, but he still did well for us. Also JT was in a few spots of trouble in his younger days. but he soon sorted himself out. Young, and all you know is footy, it is easy to come off the tracks, but a strong coaching staff will help them out Scott
  14. Kalou. Good strength for the goal, and good passing vision. Also, he used both feet quite a lot in this game; and here was me thinking someone just slagged him off as not being able to use either!
  15. aye, but nothing huge anymore. That pride of London one was pretty damn big, and could be passed about. we don't have anthing like that! And I personally felt somewhat ashamed that on a CL night, the club had to put out those white flags for teh fans to wave about. We should be bringing our own!
  16. Ah the SPecials, Classic indeed, and you can add Madness to the 80's songs. Loved them as a kid. Mum and dad always joke about me and my "baggy Trousers" dance!
  17. One thing I do wish, and I don't know if there are laws against it niw; however, I really wish there were big flags brought into the bridge for our matches. And don't tell me it's a fire hazard, because the scousers bring flags etc in all the time. I actually feel somewhat embarassed that the club had to put all those little white flags out for our CL games last season. Ok they looked good, but surely to F*ck we can be somewhat creative and bring some of our own in. I think that would show some resolve and character to our club and other fans if we had one HUGE F*CK OFF flag "welcoming" opposition to the bridge! Basically, we need more atmosphere, and I think flags are part of that. Now I know some people come in and hang flags all over the palce, but I mean a big one that could be passed right up the MH Stand, or the SHed end...anyone got any ideas on that, or and reasons why we don't see the likes of it anymore? Scott
  18. couldn't get a computer soon enough to put in my rpediction for the BPL, so for me I think we will line up as: ......................Cech Belletti........Percy.....Terry.......Cone ..................Essien....Sidwell J Cole.....................................Malouda .........................Kalou ......................................Pizarro I think that sweepy is still out, and mikel and drogs can't play, so for me the team kind of picks itself. If Lamps is back then he'll play instead of sidwell. we have also been playing quite attacking football, so I see us going with 2 up front and two wingers. Subs. Sinclair, Carlo, Sidwell (if lamps is fit) Maka, Paulo Scott
  19. I remember a few games last season where Mikel played at the tip of the diamond, and he was very clever. Short sharp passes, could hold the ball up well, and yes I feel taht he has brilliant vision. However, the other day against Valencia, he was practically strolling about with his hands on his hips for a while! I have heard, and seen that he can have quite a bad attitude, but I certainly think that He and Essien are crucial to our midfield. Thrown them and lamps in the same teaam, and we got a good one!
  20. yeah I heard that some ned ran onto the pitch, they are even talking about docking Celtic points for the incident! I doubt it though. Good couple results for teh Glasgow teams tonight and yesterday!
  21. why would we suddenly become bankrupt? Roman has taken away all our debt, and set up a fund for the club to make sure that we would not fail if he were to leave!
  22. Is he the man that may be our saving grace in all this mess? The player still respect him, the fans LOVE him, and he is Chelsea through and through. HE, undoubtably, took on board some or all of waht Jose had to say, but he may be able to pass his teachings on with an air of decorum that Jose never could? If, we get rid of him, Chelsea will be the newe Hearts of the EPL: a rich mans play thing with a rotating door of manager coming and going
  23. yes, but not as soon as jose managed it!
  24. Title says it all folks, I think that there is too much turmoil in the premiership now, and we have gotten off to such a bad start that the premiership dream is over. As I have said before, I can't remember a time where a manager is changed mid season (ok this si still the starts) and the new one has come in and won. I also think, as personified with Porto, that a knock out competition can result in a few teams having big games on the night, and winning the whole thing. So, is this the only cup we have a chance of this season? And do you thin we will pull a liverpool, and save all our resources to make sure that we have the strongest squad possible for each of the CL games at teh expense of all other competitions?
