  1. Some people are clearly taking Jose's premature departure a lots worse than others. No man is bigger than the club, be it Jose, Roman - hey even Joey!!! Whoever comes and goes, Chelsea FC will live on and on. So we might go without a trophy for a season or two (or 3,4,5............) but big deal. I'm not over enamoured with the way things have been run of late - especially since Kenyon came aboard, but Jose leaving is far from being the end of the world. I don't buy into all this player disharmony stuff. Sure some are gonna be unhappy at present, but you show me a club where every player is always happy and committed to the cause all the time. It just doesn't happen - there are always gonna be players with gripes and we had plenty of that when Jose was here. Lets not forget that Jose was never gonna be a long term coach like Fergie or Wenger - he openly admitted that himself, so the chances are he would have left sooner rather than later anyway. The last two performances have been pretty positive - especially compared to how we started the season, so lets get behind the team. Come on guys - time to move on.
  2. One of the Sunday papers had the cheek to have a go at Joe, saying something like all he offered were fancy tricks and being about as useful as a chocolate teapot. C**ts!! They will no doubt shortly be starting their bring back Carlton Palmer campaign
  3. And you'll always have the best looking supporters. Well the ones without beards anyway............................
  4. If that's what being a great footballer is all about then it shows how the priorities in football these days are so so wrong. That being a great athlete is more important than being able to pass the ball Fair play to Essien for being so versatile and that sort of player will always prove useful - like Willy G did for us and Hargreaves etc. But I don't like this "great all rounder" stuff. I like a striker to be a striker, a defender to defend and a winger to go past defenders etc etc............ Don't want to be seen as having a go at Essien as I do appreciate what he brings to our squad. But how can he be one of the greats (at this present time) when he plays like he has been of late? He gives the ball away far too often for my liking and I would go as far as to say, that at times he is like our very own Stevie G - a bit over-rated.
  5. Only just seen this quote. Great athlete. Strong. Can run all day (and probably all night). But best all round player in the world? Need a lot more to your game to be awarded that sort of accolade. I certainly wouldn't sell Essien but I agree with G4, at times he would struggle to make our best starting 11.
  6. No denying it was sexy football and what's more he created that having to work with the likes of Andy Myers and Frank Sinclair!!!
  7. Come on You Super Spurs!!! I mean, ....he goes to the bar, to buy a lager and only buys one for himself - he's only a poor little............................
  8. Good on you Loz. But what made you do this now? Get your hub-caps nicked over the weekend? Final Straw and all that???
  9. JC should grow his hair again. I'm worried about his balance since he cut it shorter!! Must say, there are hardly any players I would swap Joe for but Messi is definitely the exception - might even give Barca a million or two in addition.
  10. So does that mean for Robben, they have two treatment tables?
  11. Thank F*** for that What makes you say that Bonetti? I hate Arsenal with a vengeance but have to begrudging admit that the way they play football most of the time is exactly how it should be played. And the credit for that is totally Wenger's. He'll never come to us - more's the pity - but I would love to see him get the England job. Great to see England play decent football and even better - Arsenal will capitulate without him.
  12. Equally questionable are the votes for Lamps. Just because he returned perhaps? The one decent chance Bolton had in the first half was when Lamps cheaply gave the ball away. I can think of other players who get regularly slated for that sort of thing. Very difficult to give a MOTM when no-one really stood out and I personally only saw brief highlights.
  13. I am nowhere near convinced. Hasn't done anywhere near enough for me to date and that staying on a pitch for 90 minutes - that does appear to be a problem for him.
  14. I think people were getting a little carried away with SWP's early season form. I'm not saying his form wasn't a huge improvement on what we'd seen from him before but to describe it as "outstanding" is way OTT. As for Joe, I've said it all along, the lad has so much sheer ability - it's been criminal seeing it all go to waste. The showboating may infuriate some, and if it got to the stage where he was over doing it and kept f**king up, then fair enough, criticise him for it. But the modern game is crying out for players who can offer something different. Who, in all honesty, would want to watch a team of athletic robots (it was beginning to get a bit like that IMO over the last couple of seasons). But I for one, want to see a player hold onto the ball a bit longer (within reason) and not off load it like a hot potato every time it comes his way. I want to see a player commit defenders. Go on a dribble. Put a defender on his arse. Execute an inch perfect pass with the outside of his foot. And that's what he does. He will never be a Messi or a Ronaldo as he doesn't have the pace that they have. But he can be just as effective and hopefully we will see that with the run he is now getting in the side. I am no great fan of our new coach, but to his credit he does appear to be showing a fair bit of faith in Joe and has certainly given him a lot more freedom than he ever got with Jose. As long as he doesn't abuse that freedom totally, that can only be a good thing as there are some players that should never have the shackles kept on all the time and be over disciplined.
  15. Mikel does worry me. Plenty of ability but way too much attitude for one is so unproven. We hear about this player and that player getting regular bollockings - he looks like he definitely needs one from time to time.
  16. Yeah, apparantly our treatment room just hasn't been the same since he left.
  17. Well tonight he showed again what he can do with a sublime pass for the winner. At least Grant is showing faith in him. Chances are, if Jose had still been in charge tonight, Cole either wouldn't have started or he would have been taken off after 60 mins.
  18. Welcome back. Where have you been whilst I've been fighting Joe's corner?!!! For the record I voted for Ricci. Great to have him back too.
  19. Yeah, at least we'd see plenty of goals - although maybe not quite so many as we haven't got old lard arse in goal!!! Not saying I'd ever want Jol as our manager, but at least he goes about things in the kinda right way. I didn't see tonights game but I know he threw forwards on and I am guessing he did't resort to the "make your centre back / skipper your target man in the opposition box". ps Loz - I know we lost to Villa (how could we forget) - I was referring to our 0-0 at the weekend. Spurs fans seem to be seeing most of the goals at the moment (majority in their own net!!) 4-4 tonight - 3-3 v Fulham......................
  20. Some people mock to early!!! What's better - 0-0 or 4-4?
  21. Who knows how long Grant will last? Most of us are not expecting his stay to be a long one. But what - a few more weeks? Until January - maybe the end of the season? Say he does stay until the end of the season and we win nothing and fail to qulaify for CL. So we get in the new messiah, be it Hiddink, Lippi or whoever. Everyone seems to think whoever replaces Grant will be a success and the good times will instantly return. What if the new guy struggles and after a few months of the new season we are still off the top four - how long will he get? I'm no fan of Grant but the last thing I want is for us to become one of these joke clubs who sack the manager every 10 minutes.
  22. I was just wondering. I recall Loz's 1 out of 10 for Joe in the Rosnborg game. Loz, if Joe was worth a 1 in that match, how far down the minus scale are we going for Sheva's performance yesterday?
  23. Afetr watching TV last night I realised a major ommision from my line up - Billie Piper. Sorry girls but one of you is gonna have to make way for our new No 9. First name on the team sheet from now on. Actually found myself feeling sorry for Chris Evans last night. I know they say it's better to have loved and lost and all that, but I can just imagine him watching that last night and feeling totally gutted. (with two box's of kleenex - one for the tears.............)
  24. Very good point - although Arsenal did well to nick Fabregas from Barca - just hope they haven't done it again with Diarra.
