You don't mention the fact that ivanovic headed efforts against the frrame of the goal against City and Villa at 0-0. Had these gone in then both results may have been a different story. Aside from today we have done at least the same in our away games so far and this is with various injuries and a smaller squad. Three points at blackburn(draw last season),3 points at wigan(loss last season), villa draw(loss last season), City loss(loss last season), liverpool loss(win last season). Adding those up we're 3 points(7 instead of 4) better off on than the same fixtures last season. We might not have been impressive today but with essien lampard and drogba back in the side it may have made a big difference.

for me unless things go totally tits up carlo has the job for as long as he so wishes.....

The only deal of use to us would be something like Milan did with ibrahimovic. A loan with the option to buy at a cut price. Something in the region of £20M.. His injury is will prob prevent him from being champions league tied aswell..

Zhirkov is fit isn't he. He surely deserves a chance at being more than Ashley Coles understudy. Play him in midfield or else drop Malouda back and play Yuri in a more advanced role. Give Sturridge his chance after the CS display worst that can happen is we bring on Didier at HT or with half an hour to go if he's not doing his stuff.

Carlo will blood 6 or 7 youth players in pre season giving them real game time to allow our senior squad members time to recover following a long season and the world cup. It willgive us a chance to really see what these young players are made of rather than cameo appearances when we're 3 or 4 up in a game.

I accept that Robinho can only be descibed as complete w***ker 90% of the time but you've got to admit that he is a fantastic footballer when his attitude is right. Could Ancellotti be the man to take him under his wing and bring out the best of him.
