:D Listen on the radio for a bit so I can't pick, but I know one thing somethings not right for a team that was so solid at the back we can't keep a clean sheet now so every team will take that on borad and we have got some tricky games to come :P

Could be another low vote due to there being no streams - maybe depends on whether MOTD gives us much this time.

It's not MOTD unfortunately, it's ITV that only shows the major incidents (goals, last minute saves, penalties etc) and the chances are that Kettering v Fulham will get the main feature. I despise ITV highlights.

just back- bother with polls all you want, ultimately my posts are a better indication of the truth to be honest.

for example- there are only two flavours of wine; yellow and purple.

another truth- we'll get no minutes on match of the day tonight (highlights on itv lads).

anyway, voted for lampard- was excellent and everything went through him (much like when you make a coctail out of yellow and purple wine). ballack was good though.

we played well and made a lot of decent chances, malouda was either an appalling horror show or "good", depending on whether you expect him to play football when he steps on the pitch.

kalou and anelka both lively, nic doing a lot more than he usually does when he drops deep (i.e. he decided to run at people a little), although kalou's finishing was what we have come to expect.

the bad points are as follows;

- though I didn't see much proof of a strict zonal marking system at set peices (which is good as it is flawed), we managed to concede another set peice goal. it's become a real problem and we will need terry and riccy to have a run in the side together for us to start looking more solid I think. in general we were pretty casual defensively.

- riccy off in the send half. possibly injured?

-malouda.

- sdi santo's omission from the squad, and mancienne and stoch getting no minutes a huge disappointment. the excuse / reason that we've many first team squad players that need a game is would be valid if scolari had shown evidence of being the kind of manager that rotates. he hasn't, and one wonders whether paulo ferreira and carlo cudicini have secretly retired. they'll have to leave soon.

I've gone for Ashley. Got turned once but his pass to Ballack for the first goal was tremendous. Made several good runs down the left and got in behind the defence quite a few times unlike Bosingwa.

Make sure you all get to see the game just for Frank's goal. For me it was on a par with the free kick scored by Ronaldo last season that the press creamed themselves over though I doubt they'll give this one anywhere near as much credit even though it was from much farther out. Exocet!!

Just watched the highlights and I thought all the goals were good, I just said in the other thread that if Ronaldo had have scored Lamps goal it would have been goal of the month.

It was some strike.

No way could I pick a MOM on what I heard on the radio and saw in those highlights so I won't vote on this one.

Geezer or anyone who was there, what was Drogbas contribution like and more important what was his attitude like?

Seconded Chippy, I said to my dad if it was Ger 'National Traitor' rard who scored that freekick then the pundits would be creaming themselves for weeks hailing another superb Stevie G strike. Pathetic, can't begin to compare how much better Frank is, in both all round general play and special things Frank does WEEK IN WEEK OUT, not once in a while.

Great goal by Frank, should be goal of the month. Won't get it though - he isn't Ger 'National Traitor' rard or Ronaldo.

Dead right,

There is something wrong with the media ,

I've been reading reports on the game and you would think Ipswich were 1-0 up and we scrambled an equaliser and lucked in a deflection to nick it against the run of play.

If UTD struggle with Derby people just say they done what was needed but we (apart from a couple of nervy moments defending) totally dominate games and are slaughtered in the press.

Same with Lampard, if they can give his goals to someone else they will, He didn't even get goal of the day on ITV as Robbie Earle noticed a deflection...I ask you.

come on ballack played well- he didn't play expansively, but did well and got forward better than he has lately. "no better than average" is harsh, but I'm slightly stunned after you were so easily pleased with malouda the other day! do I need to insert a wink here? anyway I think it's further proof that the expectations for florent are at rock bottom.

p.s. when are we going to get past this gerrard stuff? wearing a bit thin IMO.

wait, what the hell is that? "Ger 'National Traitor' rard"?

It must be something to do with us sitting on opposite sides of the ground. It causes us to see things diametrically opposite!

Ballack did not play well in my opinion. He missed an absolute sitter before he scored and made an number of other errors which had the crowd on his back. I thought his head dropped a little to be honest. I give him credit because he did pick himself up and was trying and he scored two goals so I'm not complaining. I just think that in terms of overall play he was a long way from man of the match.

(Malouda didn't do much yesterday btw :D )

Excellent. When the bag of nothing that is Florent Malouda was replaced by Drogba we became a more potent team. He did all the usual hold-up play and winning the ball that we have come to expect from Drogba, plus, posed a real threat on goal.

Hugely disappointed none of the kids got so much as their usual token five minutes. Especially after Big Phil's meaningless statement last week about giving youngsters a chance. I did notice Stoch was asked to warm up at one point, but he was soon asked to sit back down again.

Which brings me neatly round to Florent Malouda again. He was absolutely useless yesterday. I cannot understand how anyone, (except opposing supporters), would want to see him in our line-up. What does he give us? Surely, a Stoch or a Sinclair could do more than this fella? I will be gutted, completely gutted if he starts against Liverpool. If he does, make no mistake, we will be playing with ten men.

Just has already responded but I'll give my take on Drogs as well.

He was up for it. He was hungry. Mentally he was spot on. Maybe Scolari has given him the shock treatment he needed.

i heard a rumour he was playing malouda to get him a move, a sort of sales demoe of him. if thats true then we will be lucky to get £5 and a snakebelt for him.

no offence intended gem- it's just strange- we can't even type the guy's name- seems like the liverpool stuff sometimes borders on the obsession.

ethical we did agree on motm- and we were two of the voters to go to the game. people who missed it would have missed a really excellent performance (okay, against a lower league side), but his passing long and short, his tracking back... everything was top class. he's having a season like he had 4 and 5 years ago, and looking as fit as ever.

drogba looked good too- immediate impact, tried things, not all of them came back but everyone is right- looked well up for it. jose has been talking about him in the press yet again, but should drogba continue like this then selling in jan would be a mistake. if we can squeeze even five, say, of his top performances from him by the end of the season it could be the difference between winning s trophy or not.

and in fairness to malouda, he's still searching for his level. I've crossed off premiership and championship from the my patented florent malouda level-o-meter, however unfortunately with kettering out we may have to put this exciting discovery on hold for another season.

Thanks Just, Geezer and Gullit 4 for you're observations on Drogba, I really was interested to see if he looked like there was any possibility he could want to play for this Club and hopefully from what you say maybe he still does,

That he came on and that Ricky got an injury may have had an effect on the Youngsters not getting on as Scolari surely has them in his plans now.

I am gutted about Malouda, I am not quick to write a player off and have seen a few things from him that made me feel he had more to offer but even I am pretty certain now he is not going to do it here,

Its hard to imagine he is the same player that brushed Rio aside so easily and scored that blinder in the Charity shield so long ago.

It's a shame Kalou is better on the right as its much easier to see Stoch playing there than on the left, with no Joey who is decent on either side I am not sure if replacing Malouda (espessially if we are trying to go 4-4-2 with Anelka and Drogba) is quite as easy as we think.

I agree that the Gerrard name thing has outstayed its welcome. It was put on when we had a couple of scousers sniffing around on a wind up and it was just meant to be a temporary thing.
