Chelsea and England footballer Ashley Cole was arrested early today after a drunken confrontation with police.

The 28-year-old left-back, husband of Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, was detained following a foul-mouthed rant at officers in west London.

Sources said the £82,000 a week star repeatedly swore at police after emerging from the Collection nightclub in Brompton Road, South Kensington.

Will he ever learn?

Jesus he makes it hard to like him.

He really is a top player, but such a whiney, stupid, arrogant little man.

The only thing to his credit is that he managed to bag such a fit wife, even if he has done his best to f*ck that up as well.

Apparently not. What the hell was he doing in a nightclub at 2.15 a.m.? I assume he knows he won't be playing on Saturday. Nevertheless, the guy really is a thick as pigsh*t. He can get as pissed as much as he likes when he retires. Whilst he's a professional footballer he should lay off the sauce. Not only is it bad for his health but, judging on previous experiences, it has a very bad affect on his judgement.

There are some that think their marrrage is a sham- wife accused of racism - marrys a black footballer. Footballer accused of sticking phones in places a bloke shouldn't marrys a successful singer, and is linked with affairs with women in the press - do they have the same agent?

Chelsea player or not he epitomises everything thing wrong with the modern day footballer

we've all done it.

heven't we?

No, we haven't. Some of us can go out, have a few drinks (sometimes a few too many) and not embarrass ourselves and people associated with us by getting rowdy and getting put away for the night.

Damn, its just so annoying that we seem to breed and cherish some footballers who have off the field issues, whilst being a professional sportsman.

I am no great fan of Ashley Cole, but I will say

-at least he wasnt driving

-at least he didnt hit any of the police

That said, I am extremely disappointed. He had cleaned up his act a bit on the pitch, and had almost made me forget about the fact that he was one of my most hated footballers. His superlative play made me think he was finally forgetting about being a twat and just getting on with playing the game.

Really disappointed

What a tosser.

Perhaps he drowned his sorrows 'cos he's missing his Mrs? Not that I'd imagine she does the sort of things a mormal Mrs would do (like the ironing, cooking and cleaning etc). The one thing she probably does do for him - well we know from his track record he can get elsewhere anyway.

Lol, all he did was swear at the police, its not like he killed anyone. Just sounds like the police over reacted as usual.

Oh and believe it or not footballers are allowed a life outside of there job.

Mate, the twat is a first class c**t.

I'm not sure that makes sense gynaecologicallly, but it works for me.

*in sitcom voiceover*

That's our ASHLEY! *cue laugh track*

The subtext is that he had been doing a charity event earlier in the evening. Brilliant. Charity event first, drunken revelry after. Wouldn't want to actually do something good without screwing it up in some way.

A couple of things I have to say about this :

1. He is first and foremost a professional footballer and as long as the club pays him, he should follow the rules and I am more than sure they strictly forbid drinking during the season. There is time for everything and he chose the wrong one.

2. What he did (being drunk in public and shouting at police) is of course wrong reproachable, but mild in comparison to the other horrible things people do under the influence of booze. He didn't harm anyone, he didn't injury anyone, he just shouted at people. If I had to chose between (say) my brother shouting at people when drunk and him driving when drunk, I know what I would choose.

He should be dropped out of the squad for the upcoming game and he should be made to learn his lesson, but no more. I am not willing to condemn somebody just because they shouted.

I, personally, have done it and suffered the consequences, but believe me when I say a wide-eyed 18 year old boy fresh out of high school, the sight of the police talking to me sobered me up with respect and fear in an instant. Im sure if I earned that kind of money every week, my reaction wouldve been different.

Prat. ¬___¬

ive always meant to ask you, what is that face thing you always do? Is it a face?
