11 premiership titles. Some achievement. Another 3 in a row and the possibility of a Champions League repeat as well. Ferguson is quite possibly one of the most outstanding managers ever, and to have a player in Ryan Giggs who has been part of every 11 teams to have lifted the premiership is testament to how great a player he is.

Like them or loathe them, you can't deny what they have achieved.

i think today's game summed them up this season...unimpressive but got the job done...deserved it no question, but still can't help think we made it easier for them than it should have been

Posted

My only wish was that Scolari hadn't run us into the ground so we could have challenged them a little better. I have to confess I feel Man Utd have eased into this one a little, as we never had a chance to have a go at them (due to injuries and LFS)

just beat me to my own adendum

Gutted that we couldn't have pushed them closer, but I think they have the stronger squad overall. Fair play to 'em just so glad they won it and not Fat Rafa and the People's Club who got way too close to it for comfort IMO.

Altogether now...................

Well done my arse! f**k 'em.

Had we had Guus all season it would've been us...

...could've been worse though. At least it wasn't those scouse c*nts

best squad wins the league not necessarily the best team...they have had the best squad for three years and won it three times, we had the best for two years and won it twice...then we fcuked it up

Well United and ourselves proved you cant win the Premiership on penalties. Benitez is a spiteful jealous c**t and it would be terrible for football if they won it . I think we blew it at home to Newcastle and away to Fulham .

I'd still like to see if Fergie would succeed at another club.

thats the big thing for me this season. all ifs and buts of course. however i would be willing to bet if we'd have had guus things couldve been different.

think back to those home draws against hull, spe*rz, newcastle and west ham. think about scolaris results against the big clubs and then compare them to hiddinks.

such a shame, such a waste

i just cant help but feel we are about to commit deja vu as well...

I agree Brit but it's about managers as well. Managers assemble squads and pick teams. Well, at most clubs they do!

You can't take it away from Ferguson he is one hell of a football manager.

Right there with you Barny. It is all if's and but's so no point beating ourselves up with the "if only" that hangs over us this season. If only we didn't get Scolari, if only we had a competent ref against Barca..... We can't do anything about the ref, but one thing the club must not do again is appoint someone like Scolari

I agree with you just...the big difference is sir alex has been allowed to get on with his job...while the people in charge at chelsea have interfered, made bad signings, bad management choices and hindered the club's progress

I do wonder if SAF would be given as much time in todays instant society as he was when he first took over?

Whomever takes over when he retires is going to be faced with one heck of a job, they will constantly be living in his shadow battling with his legacy. Which is why I am worried that they will get Jose. There is also talk of Lippi going there

Congratulations to United. Winning the Premiership 3 times in a row is a fantastic achievement and they deserve respect for it. Undoubtedly the best performing team in the country (result-wise) and fully deserve it.

It was the poorest Prem I have seen and you do feel they won it pretty much by default. A lot of key refereeing decisions in a lot of games went their way as well and they were fairly lucky with injuries of key players.

BUT

The best team won it and we can all take solace in the fact that it hurts the Scum more than in hurts us.

Have you ever seen Gerrard win the league ? :D

Three titles in a row says it all so through gritted teeth I congratulate them, I do believe they had some of the most leniant (kindly put) refereeing this season but still had the most motivated squad no matter what players they put out.

Ferguson is a top manager and commands so much respect from his players while the time he's been there has given him the confidence that if he did make mistakes he will always have the backing of the board..a feeling that managers of our team are unlikely to have.

Well done UTD for staying ahead of the Scousers..but please not back to back CLs as well

Agreed. I've changed my mind on this. Don't want Yoonited to win at all.

Can't really argue with a fine, record-equalling achievement, and of course thank God it was them and not Liverpool.

But like others have said, I haven't been that impressed with United. They haven't played that well in a lot of games, but they have the extra bit of quality to get them out of trouble and like us under Jose they just know how to grind out wins. They've also undoubtedly had the rub of the green wrt favourable refereeing decisions. That, coupled with our managerial problems and the rest of the big four dropping points all over the place, made it easier for them.

Many thanks to the Mancs for not letting the scousers win the title. This season has been a case of teams losing the title rather than winning it. I said it before and I'll say it again, this season was Liverpool's best ever chance of winning the premiersip and they should have cake walked it with the mancs not playing well and both arse and us being in disarray. Never mind hey?

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN STEVIE WIN THE LEAGUE?

utd's record against the big teams was poor...five points, only one better than us and that was cos scolari was in charge of five of the six matches...utd bullied the weaker opposition, but against the best sides were quite ordinary...the only team they beat was us and that was when we were at our worst...it almost doesn't count!

they have been unimpressive against the top teams except for us, no doubt, but you look at that 3-0 game and that was when they were really firing. In that spell of a few weeks they went from something like 10 points behind to 7 ahead. That was a damned impressive switch.

To Man Utd, well done. Everyone thought their empire was at an end five years ago when they looked distinctly average and had a terrible squad, and somehow they have come from "Fergie: Out" to three straight titles and potentially two CLs (christ). No matter the money spent, its been a damned impressive sight, and tied directly to Ronaldo transitioning from a show pony to one of the best in the world, that and the fine squad they have rebuilt. Carrick, Park, Vidic. All impressive, reasonably young players.

Ferguson is old, but he shows no signs of losing that competitive edge. Next year, we have to have a competent manager, and a squad with real attacking quality. Pair those things with confidence and the squad we currently have and we can mount a proper challenge next year

As for Liverpool

hahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

blew their best chance at the league in maybe a decade, certainly in the Benitez era. Even with some of the most blatant luck/help I have ever seen. Record number of red cards, penalties, and I lost count of all the late winners. All the top teams have off seasons. 14 points from 18 against other top four teams. And it all still wasnt enough. As much as we swallow our pride to give the Mancs props, it must cut them like a rusty machete to see their record equalled.

But theyre DEFINITELY gonna challenge next year, and bring home number 19. Now where the f**k have I heard that before?

Posted

I was at that game at old trafford when we lost 3-0 and believe me, we lost that game rather than utd won it...they didn't have to do much to win...we were awful...as poor as i've seen us in abramovich era...they were even turning on each other...a total shambles...if only scolari had gone then and we'd got hiddink in...that extra month would have made a difference in the league

Posted

Well done to United...they've deserved more than ourselves and Liverpool. I just hope for a tighter race next year. And hopefully only a two horse race, with Liverpool's year of over-achieving being a distant memory for them.

Its been a nice rebuilding year, but next year, we'll be back up there hopefully.
