The search for a 'creative player'.

Featured Replies

Carlo's creation theory.

http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0...1715221,00.html

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that a 'creative player' is high on his wish list of potential squad reinforcements.

As the new manager begins work on the training pitch in a quest to stamp his ideas on the team's style of play, the highly-experienced Italian believes there is more than one way to bring about attractive, winning football - but he certainly doesn't rule out another new signing as a preferred option.

'I think Chelsea is a strong team, a great team, a physical team that plays very well and can be improved with some creative players,' he says at the start of his first full week in charge. 'And we are looking for these players.

'But you can be creative not only with creative players. You can be creative with creative ideas and a creative organisation. You can change the idea of the team with the same players.

'I would like to have a team that plays well, plays good, creative football and naturally I would like to win. For a coach it is important to win but it is important to build a team with good characteristics, to play well, to play with organisation.'

So the search begins for a creative player, its going to be a tough job finding the right player, with citeh, madrid, manure, both milans and other top clubs all on a shopping spree for a similar 'creative' player.

Who do you think we will end up buying ?

I'm pleased to hear we haven't stopped looking.

Aguero? Pato? Ribery? Sneijder?

3 signings, already more than last season - and they're younger. Let's hope Carlo gets the signings he wants to make us great.

I'm hoping it's Sneijder.

He's an incredible talent and I've admired him for a while, but the Euro's really showed he's right up there with the best, and he's still only 25.

And - 168 career apps wth 66 goals is awesome for a midfielder (unless you're Frank)

Pleeeeeease?

Could be a very heavy hint towards Pirlo?

i know it goes against the grain on here, but i would actually be quite happy to see us sign pirlo as hes exactly the player we need. but obviously the younger alternative would be sneider. i dont think ribery fits into the creater roll, hes mych more of a forward/winger. aguero would be brilliant but i dont think he will leave atheltic this sesason.

Pirlo is to old and doesnt score many goals, but Aguero, Sneijder and Pato all fit the creative criteria. Who else ?

Creative players don't necessarily score lots of goals - they create them for others. Glen Hoddle is an example, never got bags of goals but was immensely creative.

Pirlo is to old and doesnt score many goals, but Aguero, Sneijder and Pato all fit the creative criteria. Who else ?

prilo`s job isnt to score goals but to create them, hence the term "creative player". pato isnt a creative player though, hes a frontline striker.

Elano?

Plus a bit of cash.... for JT.

Joke!!!

elano, robinho, ireland erm thats it .......plus £60 million and hes yours. oh and we`ll take fat johnson off you too as a sun shade....

That phrasing, "marquee", makes me think of the glitz and glam of what's going on in Madrid.

I will settle for effective, or hard working, if its the kind of player that Carlo wants. I think our's is the kind of squad that can be spruced up, rather than adding a whole new straw to stir the drink. Improve the wings, improve the creativity

We're still very strong centrally and Lampard at hisbest is as creative as anybody. I think what we've lacked recently is the pacy/skillful wingers that were so effective in Mourinho's first two seasons.

Zhirkov should strengthen the team significantly on the left, so the right wing seems the position to strengthen. Perhaps Ribery could come in and play there, though I'm not sure it's his ideal position. Thinking about it, we should have given Quaresma more of a chance. ;)

Despite no names immediatly springing to mind for who they should by, there are a few I know I wouldn't want:

David Silva

Carlos Tevez

Ashley Young

Looking at jordan's list, Gourcuff is an outstanding talent and could possibly be swayed by Ancelotti's Milan connection. Ozil, too, though I'm not sure he's got much more than sheer pace.

Gourcuff sadly won't be leaving Bordeaux as he has just signed with them permantly.

After looking at all possible players, i think i would want Alexandre Pato. He has youth on his side, pace, strength, brazilian flair and he can certaintly beat a man and the best thing about it he's a 20+ goal a season man if he played constant first team football. The price however is another story.

The brief: Marquee creative player.....mmmm... well if we miss out (which knowing us we probably will) we've still got Shev: just send him to art school during the week & then watch him paint it black on game days. Sorted.

from jordan's list, i think if we want to get rid of some age and add some creativity sign axel witsel of standard liege, he is still young and already a tremendous player, giovinco off of juventus, he has just about eveything, and as you have prob seen in the youth cup in sweden he can score when we need, then end it off with higuan as our stiker, as he will definely add some pace up front and i think if we gave the right price real madrid and him would prob agree. As for the wings, zhirkov improved the right, then get sessignon for the right and that will probably be apple to set us up for a year or two

then in the future will be something like this...

----------------------------Cech/Turnbull

-------------bsignaw----mancienne------Terry----Zhirkov

----------------------------mikel

--------------------witsel

-----------------------------------------Giovinco

-----stoch--------------------------------------------Kakuta

-----------------------------Higuan

now who wouldn't mind that line up?

Dream signing: Ribery, Aguero

Marquee signing: Sneijder, Pirlo

I'm not that excited about Pirlo though. We already have a very similar player in our side in Deco. He was brilliant at times but for some reason faded through injury..

I was certain that comment was aimed at Ribery. His goal scoring record is only modest and he is a clearly creative player. Only issue is that he too is more left than right sided. However could work like Robben in cutting in from the right. He's about the right age 26, although I might have preferred 2 years younger for someone who depends partly on speed.

Pirlo is not my solution, does nothing to change the Chelse fundamentals.

We already have a central midfield of either 3 or 4 from Frankie, Essien, Mikel and Ballack. Ballack will play less this season but neither Essien nor Mikel could be described as creative. Assuming Frank plays and either Essien or Mikel does the holding role and that we continue to use drogba/anelka up front, the role is for someone like Joe Cole to create for those guys. For me Ribery fills that space.

If Pirlo came I can't see the difference to Ballack. The games I've seen Pirlo has played deep whereas, in my view, we clearly need advanced creative.

As a matter of fact its not obvious who Zirkhov will replace, I suppose Malouda but there wont be much difference, perhaps he is just backup for A Cole.

I do hope Chelsea Are not setting themselves up for a fall with these comments.

We do have to be careful not to end up with egg on our faces for a second season running.

So Bucks has now very publicly said 'a marquee signing for Chelsea'? Well it doesn't take a genius to work out that narrows it down to about 4 or 5 players each of which other clubs will be looking at and each of whom their current clubs will be reluctant to sell and if they do will be very, very expensive.

I hope the club already have something in place because i fear we could end up looking a little silly (again) if nothing comes off.
