Posted October 27, 200915 yr It pains me to say it but it looks pretty good. I like the idea of having 1 stand that just sweeps back without tiers to aid atmosphere. Plus it looks different to other stadiums which to be fair seem to spring up in kit form there so similar. Any news on the redevolopment of the 'bridge'?. Last i heard they was trying to increase our capacity without moving stadium which i would prefer, apparently under the 'pitch owners scheme' we could'nt call ourselves Chelsea Football Club if we moved from Stamford Bridge, is that true? I also heard that the club wanted to pull down or relocate the hotel in order to make the shed end bigger, which would be ideal but Ken Bates has refused to sell his penthouse because he's an awkward old bas*ard. I understand the main stumbling block is being able to get an extra 10-15k people in and out quickly enough under fire regulations or something....anybody heard anything?

Someone told me that plans for looking at a new ground or possible redevelopment had been put on hold for two years. Cant recall where it came from - maybe from one of the forums the club puts on every now and then ? Anyway, I share concerns - the idea of Spuds having a big fancy, larger ground and ultimatley larger gate receipts than us unsettles me to be honest.

With marketing in the Far East, US and across Eurpoe, gate receipts in todays market place are a piss in the ocean. I've seen the pic's and the stand behind the goal is impressive, but the rest of it will be a corporate hell-hole just like all the other modern stadia!!!!
October 27, 200915 yr The police and local authority won't permit an increase above 42,000 all the time you can only exit from one side of the stadium as happens today. So unless you relocate a few thousands graves and a train track it ain't gonna happen.

October 27, 200915 yr I really like the look of the one tiered stand. Is it really just the Hotel stopping us from having one at The Shed End?
October 27, 200915 yr I really like the look of the one tiered stand. Is it really just the Hotel stopping us from having one at The Shed End? See Tim's reply.. if it was a case of ripping down the hotel Roman would have done it in the first season I reckon.. It is the access that is the issue, also why we cannot be full capacity of CL games, and while we are on the subject I don't beleive the capacity figures for Saturday, there were a lot of empty seats around.. why increase capacity when we cannot fill the seats we have ? Basically if we are going to get bigger capacity then we need to move. As for renovating we could do that like Spurs are planning but we will need to move for a few seasons .. where would worry me but I would put up with it.
October 27, 200915 yr personally i think this stadium is just like any other new one. That one tier stand is good but it is copied from liverpools new kop, and the rest of the ground is exactly the same as the emirates. all new stadiums look exactly the same to me really
October 27, 200915 yr In the draft models that I saw their stadium was shaped to look like a pair of woman's knickers. When questioned, the architect said he had intentionally designed it that way because once it is built they are going to fill it with c*nts.
October 28, 200915 yr Author Why cant we build a footbridge over the tubelines behind the MH stand and let people exit there? I suppose the residents will be up in arms about it. It always makes me laugh when i hear about 'residents complaints' i mean the ground has been there for over 100 years so its not like its been plonked on them is it, plus it used to hold 100,000 people. I take it that the Bates refusing to sell his penthouse story is bo**ocks?
October 29, 200915 yr I take it that the Bates refusing to sell his penthouse story is bo**ocks? It was actually up for sale about 18 months ago but I'm not sure if he sold it. He refused my bid of £50k the tight sod.
October 29, 200915 yr Count me in with Alex. The kop stand thing is a pretty good idea, but as for the overall design I hate it. It looks like the Dragao in Portugal or anything else you see that is modern. Nice, but nor really looking like a football ground. Is there no way to maximize space and utility, while still keeping a rectangular shape? I understand architects and designers are limited by the ground they are given, but I fear in 50 years these will be everywhere, and places like Goodison and Villa Park (or the bridge, from the inside) wont exist

To me these new stadiums just have no individual flair. Anyways this new spurs ground would look pretty good, better then most other new ones.
November 5, 200915 yr Who Here thinks we should have a New Stadium because since the Vialli Days are Fan Base is wayy up there with the madrids barca's etc we need a stadium at least bigger then arsenal if we have to move from south west london we should at least before moving win the champions league premierleague and fa cup again lets make history :o
November 5, 200915 yr I would be well against a move from Stamford Bridge! Though you are right, we should be at least increasing the seating capacity somehow by now. I heard a few years back that increasing the stands wasn't a problem, it's the extra people/traffic flooding into Fulham Road before and after the games.
November 6, 200915 yr now the scum are suggesting their ground will be better than ours and attract more sponsorship...it will certainly be bigger, but attracting more sponsorship? Not sure about that...who wants to be associated with shi*e mid-table also-rans compared to one of the biggest teams in europe...they really do live in dreamland up there in north scum land...maybe it's something in the water... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...d-Arsenals.html
November 6, 200915 yr maybe it's something in the water... Well it's definitely not something in the bacon.
