I felt it necessary to make a comment on the actual website to riposte against the NOTW's customary web of lies and anti-Chelsea rhetoric.

"Ignoring that this is a complete non-story, based on the one actual quote you have provided, Kalou needs to take a good, long look in the mirror if there is an ounce of truth in this. There is a reason he hasn't started: he hasn't been anywhere near good enough. I don't know why on Earth he would expect to dislodge the likes of Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba (two of the best strikers in world football) from their places in the first team when he plays as badly as often as Kalou does.

As for Chelsea not giving chances to youth players, that is complete rubbish. Borini, Sturridge, Matic, Bruma, Hutchinson (when he's been fit) and Kakuta have all appeared fairly regularly in the first team, considering their age, and have all (generally) been rewarded when their displays have warranted further first team football. I was lucky enough to be at Stamford Bridge for Kakuta's debut against Wolves, in which he was very impressive, and he was rewarded with more game time in the subsequent month. "

He just wants us to know that he has been to the Bridge, as Loz may remember :)

Haha, unfortunately it's true. I thought slipping that in might give me some credence against all the idiots who might label me a 'plastic' fan. That said, these days, unless your team's stadium is next door to your house or the team you choose to support has won anything in the previous 30 years, you're in the firing line to be labelled a plastic.

what a rubbish article. they don't even mention all those sitters kalou manages to miss. they say he's the young african player of the year but that was in 2008.

pick any two from drogba, anelka and kalou. not exactly rocket science is it?

The only thing he wants showing is the door. He tries but he is just not good enough. Sturridge is a better player and finisher and will provide stiffer competition for Nic and the Drog

Kalou on his day can be quite good, but unfortunately, lately his days are few and far between, bordering on non existent.

Kalou is our Liverpool "next year he'll step up" - epic fail.

Drogba, Anelka, Sturridge, Harry Redknapp's wife and Kalou. In that order.

taken from clubcall so take it with a whole country sized pinch of salt.

Barcelona are believed to be monitoring Saloman Kalou's progress amid reports he has become unsettled at Stamford Bridge.

Reports at the weekend indicated that the Ivory Coast international had become disillusioned with life at Chelsea having struggled to establish himself in the Blues first team.

This isn't the first time Kalou has been linked with a move away from west London with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who had the forward on trial before he joined Chelsea, thought to have made a bid for the African Young Player of the Year last summer.

Barcelona have now reportedly joined the Gunners, and Inter Milan, in the race to sign the 24-year-old, although the Blues seem unlikely to sell unless they can strengthen in January.

Chelsea are still set to have a transfer embargo imposed on them for the next two transfer windows and won't want to let one of their players leave unless they have a replacement lined up.

Kalou linked with Barca?! ::clap2::

Yeah Right.

Perhaps Messi and co just want someone to laugh at in training.

So who is supposed to be more insulted by this story?

Chelsea, because Kalou doesnt want to stay at the club?

Or Barca, Arsenal, Inter....because this paper thinks they are dumb enough to start a bidding war over them!

Im almost willing to let him go on a free just so our younger guys can get his playtime.

I think its time I spoke up on this subject.

Yes Kalou is pants, and no, while being young, he probably won't make it at Chelsea in the long run.

However.........

I hate the stick he gets on here. He joined us for a reasonable fee, on reasonable wages, has never once complained to the media about his pay or playing time. Works as hard as just about anyone at Chelsea. Is a quiet, religious guy who is well liked around the club.

The abuse he gets on here just isn't fair. Sell him yes, but give him some respect, his not a bad kid.

hes not a kid. he`s a first team player for us who has hardly ever reached the levels expected of him. some of his games have been absolutely garbage, and most of the stick hes got over it has been deserved.

The stick he gets is deserved in relation to the performances he generally gives.

I don't think anyone here has been commenting on him as a person though, so it doesn't matter how nice and well liked he is. He's not performing, and that is the catalyst for the criticism I think.

Yes, it's not as bad since he hasn't cost the club as much as other players, but if someone's not performing, but consistently being picked, fans have the right to vent a little.

After watching some of these Ivory Coast highlights, I've noticed Gervinho starts ahead of Kalou a lot...let's see if we can orchestrate a swap with Lille.

what kind of swap, Kalou for a packet of digestives and a nice belt?

I'm with QAZ as usual. Kalou misses a lot of goals but has very fast feet and I don't think he'd be any worse at the tip of the diamond than Joe Cole right now. I can recall some poor games from Kalou but also some good ones. Still I do think we could do better. Sturridge has hardly set the world on fire anyway and Kalou gets picked in front of him.

Having said that he's not a starter in a premiership winning side, but not far off it either.
