lauren Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 with the Manks winning big today against Pompey and tomorrow's game very make or break are we about to come apart at the seams? I am worried what effect JT's recent press problems and being sacked as England's captain will now have on the morale of the team. thoughts?
Phillip Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I think we will be OK, even if we draw tomorrow. If we lose, then you may be right.
Eggy McMuffin Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I think we will be OK, even if we draw tomorrow. If we lose, then you may be right. Actually I think the complete opposite to that. If we win, it'll spur us on, show that we can do it, and put the pressure back on the mancs. If we lose, it'll give us something to prove for the rest of the season and we'll get an us against them mentality for the rest of the season. If we draw, it's not a good result and it's not bad. It's not enough to need a reaction, and it's not enough to prove to the squad that we're in a great position... it'll just be... meh. I think it could work out to be a worse result than a defeat.
TheWestwayWonder Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 (edited) If the story has gone as far as its gonna go, I think we should be alright, i.e. we will have a decent shot at recovering. If there is more to come this Sunday, and as people are speculating it involves Ashley, Frank, and more critical members of the squad, then we could be in for a world of hurt. If we collapse down the stretch because of all this, I am sure Fergie will be sending alot of xmas cards to the gutter journalists that made it their personal mission to derail our season. We dont know what Carlo is made of in times like these, but I would give my anything for Jose Mourinho giving our team talk tomorrow. Edited February 6, 2010 by TheWestwayWonder
BlueBeard Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 This is an ideal opportunity for Ancelotti to show his motivation skills, that's assuming he has any. The Chelsea boss could do wonders for JT by openly backing him in front of the rest of the squad, and then reminding them all that what the c*ntish press wants more than anything is for us to fail. Time for Carlo to show he has the balls to do the business when it's most needed. I could have worded that better under the circumstances, but f*ck it! :D
BlueBeard Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 If there is more to come this Sunday, and as people are speculating it involves Ashley, Frank, and more critical members of the squad, then we could be in for a world of hurt. I can't understand why it's such a sensation for a top-class sportsman to shag around, I'm sure players from all clubs are at it constantly. Let's face it, there's always gonna be a mob of super-slags hanging around professional footballers, just like groupies hanging around musicians. At least the Chelsea players are shafting women, a few years back the Arsenal team were shagging each other (allegedly) :D
bluevale2 Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 It was obvious the mancs would do a job on Pompey, so no surprises there. Bluebeard is right and the time has come for Carlo to back JT and instil a siege mentality for the rest of the season. Come on Chels!!!!!
Chippy Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Westway, mate I can't see anything about Carlo that would make it any better for us if Jose was doing the team talk. Is there any set of circumstances , no matter how the Manager has faired that people still don't keep harping back to the man who is about to do his best to make our season even worse? Carlo has been a breath of fresh air in his interviews so far, he has never come across as ruffled in any way despite his obvious problems with the language and he has always been respectful in his answers with regard to other teams/managers, he has already stated he is fully behind JT and he will stay as Captain of Chelsea and he wont let anyone get under his skin. If the rumours that are going around have any truth I can see there being a bit of a problem in the dressing room but the boys will get through it and Carlo will do his best to keep boys motivated. I don't see in times like these why we have to have any doubts about our manager.
TheWestwayWonder Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Its not a big deal BB. As the more reputable media outlets have illustrated, the Italians are having a great laugh over all this furore over the private lives of players. The media spotlight on the team is gonna be blinding for the rest of the season

Nothing against Carlo, Chippy, its just Jose has that proven track record of making it "us against the world" and having his team go out and perform despite the outside pressure on them. I dont have doubts about Carlo as a manager, and I really like the way he has handled himself so far. But I just hope, now that the gloves are off in the media, he can instill the squad with that mentality like you have said

Jose would use the situation perfectly to create a "us against the world" mood within the team. And I think Carlo should try to do something similiar. All the bad reports about JT, ManU pickung up some form and all the stuff that is going on should make us stronger and create a real unit instead of making us weak.
aliboy66 Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Liston we have to win tomorrow and we will they have to put everything behind them as they say the show must go on come on you blues :D
goose Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I think this will make us stronger and unite the whole team. I can see us being very hungry tomorrow and totally dominate Arsenal. The press will be watching every move tomorrow hoping for a poor display and I think the reaction will be 'you don't f**k with Chelsea'.
BlueBosnian Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I really can't see us losing it this season. We have, by far, the best squad in the Premier League. We are the only complete team in the league. Comapare our defense, our midfiled, and our forwards and we are second to none. This is the first year in the past four where I'd be really disappointed if we didn't win it.
The Machine Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I do not think our season will implode but what is required now by the boys is that they have to be at their absolute best from now on in. Its going to be a tough fight with United but I feel that we can beat them and how great would it feel if we were the team that stopped United winning for in a row. For me if we won it this year it would be the best one of the lot by a mile, especially what has happened so far this season.
jcm28 Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 If we lose then yes but we wont lose because we are at home against an Arsenal team we beat 3-0 in the Emirates in November.
Ballack & Blu Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Listen peeps, old red nose gave the team all the firing up they need, with his comments after last weeks arsenal drubbing, thanks Alex ya knob.
Alakuu Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Well, only 14 games left for us, and we're not in too shabby a place. The last few seasons we have finished the season well, and had blips in the winter so lets hope that's the case again
ws6blue Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 if he's clever, carlo will use this furore to motivate the team and build a 'no one likes us' mentality (as jose used to do) we know there is a strong clique in the club and they will pull together - so come on lamps, drogs, michael & essie win tomorrow great platform to push on and win the league
Sheva Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I think it can go either way, JT has been heavily in the spotlight and Drogba wants it back! f**king disgrace i tell you.
Bovis Messroom Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 (edited) We've got more than enough players who have title winning experience and the know how of what it takes. So we are totally unlike someone like Newcastle who famously cracked up, including their manager, when it mattered. The Champions League campaign resumes soon and I believe we have the strongest squad to cope when the games are coming thick and fast. The Arsenal match? Just hope there's less fingernail biting and plenty of vocal support to drive the lads on. It's still in our hands. Edited February 7, 2010 by Bovis Messroom
Arq Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 I hope the team saw what happened today with manu and it motivates them to put on a great showing tomorrow. However, I don't think the season is over whether it's a win, draw, or loss. Win, and it shows the league that Chelsea isn't a team to f**k with. Lose, and the motivation to win it all will increase ten-fold. Draw, and I believe the reaction will be the same as a loss. I can't wait to watch this match. I think Carlo will have the team ready for a win. Go Chelsea!
clubhappy Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 (edited) Bottom line here is , its entirely down to the players , how they react, do they want to pull together, do they want to get to this stage and then f**k it all up by holding grudges with J.T[if they have any ] , do they feel its time to put personal opinions aside and play for the Badge/Club and move ahead by playing with a f**k em all mentaility . Make no mistake, this is a quality squad but its their performances that matter and its entirely up to them and Carlo as to 'What happens next ' . Carlo i have every faith in to win the dressing room and generate some sort of harmony , i dont believe any of our squad would jeopardise a premiership title because of personal grudges or opinions, at least i hope not . Carlo has a bit of work ahead. Edited February 7, 2010 by clubhappy
