Posted May 11, 201015 yr GK's: Julio Cesar (Inter Milan), Gomes (Tottenham), Doni (AS Roma, Italy). Defenders: Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Michel Bastos (Lyon), Gilberto (Cruzeiro), Lucio (Inter Milan), Juan (AS Roma), Luisao (Benfica), Thiago Silva (AC Milan). Midfield: Elano (Galatasaray), Kaka (Real Madrid), Gilberto Silva (Panathinaikos), Josue (Wolfsburg), Ramires (Benfica), Felipe Melo (Juventus), Kleberson (Flamengo), Julio Baptista (AS Roma). Forwards: Luis Fabiano (Sevilla), Nilmar (Villarreal), Robinho (Santos), Grafite (Wolfsburg). Dunga did not make room for Alex and I can't see why he was not picked, shameful really! At the same time he only chose 23 players so far so there is still 7 spots left for him to speculate and play with but I doubt we'll see any changes in the final squad. Pato, Ronaldinho and Adriano also got left out, be interesting to see how well Brazil will do to be honest.
May 11, 201015 yr Pato being left out is interesting, could open the door for us, but then again do we want a striker who's place has been filled by Robinho?! Don't understand why Alex doesn't get picked, he's a brilliant defender.
May 11, 201015 yr I thought maradona was a sh*t manager you could pick a better brazil team out of the players he has left out!!!
May 11, 201015 yr fantastic news for us.....he should be well rested and we wont hear about RM/Barca/ManCity trying steal him due to exceptional WC performances. Feel gutted for him myself, and hopefully he wont think this is due tot the club he plays for.
May 11, 201015 yr Very weird indeed, and also bizarre that Pato has been left out for the car crash that is Robinho. And I thought Capello's Carragher selection was odd.
May 11, 201015 yr Alex hasn't been in contention for a Brazil spot for a long long time now so no surprise he isn't in the squad. Pato also hasn't exactly set the heather alight for the international team so far so his ommission shouldn't come as a great shock - Robinho, on the other hand, has a reasonable record for Brazil.
May 11, 201015 yr No Alex, Pato and Ronaldinho is absolutely crazy! (despite what loz says ;p) Edited May 11, 201015 yr by blizeH
May 11, 201015 yr Sorry to see Dunga did not select Alex. Lucio (Inter Milan) is an automatic choice and apparently Dunga is impressed with the 25 year old Tiago Silva who plays in central defence, alongside Nesta for Milan, and is in top form this season. I read somewhere Ancelotti is interested in bringing him to the Bridge!
May 12, 201015 yr Alex is surely in their top 3 or 4 central defenders though???? Oh well, he'll just have to enjoy his football with Chelsea instead.
May 12, 201015 yr Someone mentioned Pato being left out is good news for us, well likewise Alex being left out is very bad news for us I think. Will be interesting to see how he does next season, I fear unless we can guarantee him regular first team football (ie not just when Carvalho is injured) he may leave. Shame as he's a fantastic defender, sorry to say this JT but I'd say he's probably our best.
May 12, 201015 yr Do you think Carvalho will still be around next season then? I think he could be one of the names on the way out.
May 12, 201015 yr Do you think Carvalho will still be around next season then? I think he could be one of the names on the way out. I think Riccy is a certainty to leave, especially if as reported Carlo wants Bruma in the first team squad.
May 12, 201015 yr the portugal squad isn't looking too bad. at 32 on betfair they must be worth a couple of quid though i do find it funny that their preliminary squad is made up of 24 players so only 1 will be cut. very cruel on poor pedro mendes Edited May 12, 201015 yr by sexelk
May 12, 201015 yr I am pretty surprirsed to see Alex (and even more so Pato) not there. I would think Dunga would subscribe to the belief that with certain individuals, the potential talent they bring outweighs form that might be lacklustre at their club. Another surprising omission or two: Cambiasso and J. Zanetti. They have been stellar in Europe and still its not enough? I'm especially gutted for Zanetti as he is a legend and seemingly a nice guy. Hopefully Maradonna fails specutacularly and never manages again.
May 12, 201015 yr I didnt know Cambiasso was Brazilian....... how could they not pick him? IMO he has been one of Inters best players (if not their best player) this season, and likely the best DM in CL this season.....If he had been out for our CL matches I think we would of beaten them soundly, with or without Essien. Edit: Actually I think he is an Argentine Edited May 12, 201015 yr by Barry Bridges
