iPhone 4

I'm waiting for dkw's response... :laugh2:

Seriously, though. Most of my mates have been pleased with their iPhones, but I don't think I will buy a new mobile for a while. My current one works like it should and I couldn't justify buying a new one at the moment.

I reserved mine yesterday mate, picking it up next Thursday from the apple store.

Are you getting the 32g or 16g ?

Have not decided yet, but im leaning towards the 16g one since I think its more then enough space. Just need to make sure to set up a spotify premium account now and im all set!

The TV at work couldn't pick up BBC1 to watch the Spain game, so I got my HTC Tattoo (bottom of the range of HTC Android phones), and went on the BBC game and streamed it perfectly. My mate with his Iphone couldn't as it can't do Flash, and my other mate with his Blackberry couldn't stream it as it wasn't quick enough.

Go HTC, go Android, go open source. It means you can edit the apps any way you want to. Porn apps are the way forward :D

The new iphone does look a good phone, but the way apple reacted to the leak, was despicable, midnight raids on the guy's house and that was AFTER he gave it back to them.

The trouble with speed reading is that sometimes you get the wrong end of the stick - so I found myself wondering why Eggy had had HTC tattooed on his bottom! having read it again, that still makes more sense to me than the rest of it!!

Open Source is basically a geek thing. Us geeks want to change everything we can, and feel in control of our computers and everything they do, the same goes for phones. Open source means we have the means to do that. Apple and Microsoft won't.

Tell your mate you have to go iplayer on safari, then press the little '+' sign along the bottom, then 'add to home screen'.

I think that's what they tried, but it didn't have the live game.

Edit - I must admit, I wouldn't put it past him to miss an obvious link though.

A fella here at work was trying to get it on his iPhone and failed. Another fella (the jock we englishised) got it on some random unnamed cheap chinese thing he got for £50 on the market. I nearly laughed my arse off.

HTC Incredible in the states has an 8 Meg Pixel camera, Dual flash, and a 1GB processor. It succeeded the motorola Droid, and the Motorola Droid X (maybe called Shadow) is soon coming out and looks a beast. Apple wil always have their followers, but Android is amazing, fast, and open! That I like

The best mobile OS is Palm's webOS. Unfortunately, the hardware is not so great and there aren't the same number of apps that you can get from Apple's App store - particularly with a UK focus.

The iPhone has the advantage of being very simple, but I got rather bored and frustrated with it. The iPhone 4 looks like it has addressed some of the things that bugged me.

Flash is a short term irritant rather than a long term problem. I'm only interesd in it for video and audio streaming and it won't be long before most sites move over to HTML5.

Android is pretty good but their app ecosystem is pretty hit and miss and the OS itself is quite fragmented. HTC's sense overlay is pretty nice looking but not as functional as it first seems.

In the end it comes down to the apps and whilst Apple's platform dominates so will their hardware.

Be careful how you hold your shiny new phone people.

A number of users are reporting problems with their iPhone 4.

Apple's latest device went on sale on Wednesday, with hundreds of people queuing outside Apple's flagship store in central London for the launch.

The issue relates to the mobile phone signal, with users reporting a drop in signal strength when the phone is held.

The casing of Apple's latest phone is made of stainless steel, which also serves as its antenna.

Richard Warner, who bought his iPhone 4 on Wednesday morning, contacted BBC News, saying that he thought the phone was "useless in its current state".

"Apple have created a phone that has an antenna on the bottom left-hand side of the phone.

"This means that when you hold it in your left hand, the signal bars slowly fade until there is no signal," he wrote.

'Complaints'

A number of videos have been posted on video sharing site YouTube complaining about the reception issue.

One video had an American user running a speed test, with hands on and hands free.

In it, the user 'awington' says that, while holding the phone "it won't even run the test when I am holding the phone... once I let go, it makes a connection and runs the test.

"Hold it a second time, and the upload test will not start."

So funny.

Yip, and the casing is glass. Many peoplle in the US are having their new phones arrive in packages, open them up, and they are shattered. Ingenious

I'm tempted to get one, ditto with an iPad. The thing is I don't NEED to buy one, I'll try and resist the temptation. The signal problem would affect me as well because I'm left handed.

I have had 3G for 2 years now. Bought it among the first ones here. I have been more than pleased with the phone. I use it lot more than I've ever used another phone. It is very fun, intuitive and works like a swiss clock.

Nokia's are boring and not very fun to use. You have gazillion things you can do with a Nokia but who the h*ll want's to use them.

Also Apple's touchscreen is the best I've ever used. I've tried samsung and Nokia and their's are not even close. Not sure about the most expensive ones but...

I don't see that many new improvement's on the 4. I will be getting one though from work. Now that I have looked all the video's and stuff from Apple I really can't wait.

I'd say to people who never had an iPhone, go for 3G or 3GS if you get it cheap.

I have already friends bidding on my 3G, price is currently at 150€
