Posted October 3, 201014 yr Now I know this has been discussed over and over again, and even hijacked the Rooney thread to a great extent. But all week long The News of The World have been running an advert that mentions JT and something being revealed. Well it appears this is what is it was.... http://www.chelsea.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=520595 An apology tucked away on page 18, but an apology all the same from the lowest of the low of all tabloids. Maybe JT will recieve an apology next week? I won't hold my breath.
October 3, 201014 yr This sounds horribly familiar: Miss Perroncel has since informed us that she would have preferred her personal information to remain private and it was untrue in any case. We apologise to Miss Perroncel for any distress caused. Didn't some other rag publish the exact same paragraph a little while ago? Either way, that stinking bloody rag should be sued out of existence.
October 3, 201014 yr Author This sounds horribly familiar: Didn't some other rag publish the exact same paragraph a little while ago? Either way, that stinking bloody rag should be sued out of existence. Yeah you're right Hutch. I think it was those idiots at the Daily Fail.
October 3, 201014 yr Author its a fooking joke sean, page 18 and hidden the sneaky journo bar stewardos.. We've discussed it a million times Ad. Big fat piss take. The advert during the week was beyond a joke. I didn't pay much attention to it and didn't notice the date as some obviously did. Still it was another way for them to mention the JT allegations yet again.
October 3, 201014 yr What a disgrace! I'd almost bet nothing is said of it. I'm not sure what they are claiming was false? Her and Terry having an affair at all, or her being forced to have an abortion, or any other sh*te about Wayne Bridge!! All the hysteria around this when it happened will far outweigh the furor that should surround that fact that a media outlet, however sh*te it may be, was instrumental in making England lose their Captain in a World Cup year. It was also instrumental in emotional damage done to Peronncel in making her look like a friendship breaking/ household wrecking harlot! Then there is the damage done to Terry and his entire family! As for Wayne Bridge, Craig Bellamy and the rest of the citeh f**ks that took to this so feverishly.... you really are lowlife pieces of sh*t! The fact that Bridge used this as an excuse to turn his back on a mate, and then play the victim card to "pull out of the England team" shows what a weak excuse for a man he is! he used this to back out because he knew he'd probably not make the team, but at least this way he can save face and make JT the villain; Wayne you're a c**t! Scott

Scott I've been saying much the same for a long time. I've heard all the opinions about "that goal" and all the rest of it, but as far as I'm concerned the way he conducted himself all the way through the so-called John Terry affair has far outweighed any loyalty or gratitude owed him as an ex-Chelsea player. Wayne Bridge is a scumbag who milked the situation every way he could. And yes I do believe his behaviour was all part of a deliberate attempt to undermine the Chelsea team and JT in particular. Should be be booed when he plays at Stamford Bridge? Damn right he should.
October 3, 201014 yr Apologies and retractions should be printed on the same page as the original story.

Should be be booed when he plays at Stamford Bridge? Damn right he should. Exactly, I almost wrote about that goal in my previous post as it really is one of my favourite goals. We'd had such a dreadful run against the Arse before this game, the time of the goal, and Ranieri's reaction. Just a shame Bridge has now tarnished it by becoming a complete c**t
October 4, 201014 yr I cant devote any brain power to this "apology" because it makes my blood boil. If I were one of the affected parties, I would look to do physical harm to them after that, because its not so much an apology as it is a slap in the f**king face. I despair for the British media, and for any country with troglodytes enough to keep papers like that in business. I may be off base in saying this, but I dont think such an event could take place in North America. For some reason (probably the fact that television means they wield far less power) the media actually seems to have a sense of what is right and wrong some of the time.
October 4, 201014 yr And now this sudden change of heart from the Sun http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/sunsport_columnists/3163463/Carlo-Ancelotti-turns-around-John-Terry-and-Ashley-Coles-form.html For those to idle to click (I've put in the underlining) IT was Didier Drogba, inevitably, and Alex, spectacularly, who sunk Arsenal and pushed Chelsea four points clear at the top of the Premier League. But boss Carlo Ancelotti will have taken far more delight from the brilliant performances of ex-Gunner Ashley Cole and inspirational skipper John Terry. Performances that vindicated his unswerving faith in two of his star players, albeit ones who heaped shame on the club in his first season at the helm. Terry hit the front pages over an affair with the partner of ex-team-mate Wayne Bridge? And the collapse of Ashley Cole's marriage to Cheryl was also non-stop national news. But there was no hair-dryer, no boot-throwing, no public condemnation by Ancelotti. He stood by his men and played them regardless of the huge outcry on the streets and the abuse from the terraces. He didn't even utter a concern about the impact of the off-field shenanigans on his stars. And he's been rewarded handsomely. Terry ended the season by lifting the Premier League trophy and the FA Cup, the first time the Blues had done the Double in their 105-year history. And yesterday he and Cole were magnificent. The world's best left-back was everywhere. Cruelly he had a perfectly good goal denied for a phantom offside and had two other scorching efforts well-saved. Meanwhile, Terry was typically commanding at the back and the rock on which this victory was based. But the main credit must go to the unflappable Ancelotti - back at work a day after his father Giuseppe's funeral - who didn't bat an eyelid in the eye of the storm, well not in public anyway. His compatriot Fabio Capello did the expected knee-jerk reaction and summoned JT to Wembley to humiliate him for the world's amusement by taking his treasured Three Lions' captaincy away. But the Chelsea coach did... NOTHING! Terry didn't miss a single match because of it. His philandering was revealed on January 29 and the very next day he scored in a 2-1 victory at Burnley. Quality from JT, but extra-quality from his boss. And after the game, the Press gang pinned Ancelotti to the wall and pushed him to denounce his inspirational leader. Ancelotti just shrugged. And he starved the story of any oxygen from a Chelsea perspective by saying as long as Terry trained well and played well he would be in his team. He reinforced that by saying whatever Terry did off the field did not concern him or Chelsea. Why? Because he was not his father, he was his manager and so only concerned with footballing matters. Cole received similar protection so he knew, too, that he had a haven at work. Alex Ferguson has chosen a different tack with Wayne Rooney who has his own marital problems. Now Fergie has a terrific track record in protecting his young stars but has he got this one wrong? When the news broke the United boss dropped his star striker - and for a match at his old club Everton. Surely Rooney's pride wouldn't have let him duck that one regardless of the abuse he knew awaited him. Fergie quickly recalled him, but after three goalless games back he dumped him again citing an ankle injury. Yet the player insists he's fit and desperate to play. Fergie doesn't get many things wrong but he better get Rooney back in business - and soon. If not Chelsea fans might be singing the same song to United they did to Arsenal yesterday 'Your season's over la, la, la, la, la, la'!"
October 4, 201014 yr The Sun thought JT was magnificent. The Daily Heil gave him 6/10. Chelsea (4-3-3): Cech 7; Ivanovic 6 (Ferreira 73min, 6), Alex 7, Terry 6, Cole 7; Essien 6, Mikel 6 (Sturridge, 89), Ramires 7 (Zhirkov, 83); Anelka 6,Drogba 7, Malouda 6. Arsenal (4-4-1-1): Fabianski 6; Sagna 6, Squillaci 5, Koscielny 5, Clichy 6; Nasri 6, Wilshere 8 (Emmanuel-Thomas, 81), Song 6, Arshavin 6 (Vela, 87); Diaby 6 (Rosicky 70, 6); Chamakh 6. Man of the match: Jack Wilshere. What planet is that reporter (Matt Lawton) on? Mind you, he was the one who unleashed that absurd conspiracy crap about JT after the WC press conference, so he clearly has 'issues' where our skipper is concerned.
October 4, 201014 yr Did Perroncel not sell her story to the papers? I thought that was one of the key things that led to the story, if that's the case why didn't they just print her story, if they did why is she getting the apologies now? I don't get all this old bollox.

I don't get all this old bollox. No she didn't sell the story. As far as I know she refused to talk to them other than to deny anything happened. She has maintained that stance since day one. Conclusion: A complete fabrication invented by the press to sell newspapers, or at the very least because they were friends, it was a case of them putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5.

I don't get all this old bollox. Read this it was posted before but I can't find it. Here's just a snippet... Along the way, Perroncel committed one of the worst sins in Fleet Street: she refused to talk to the press. So fantasy took over. She became a fictional object on whom journalists projected classic stereotypes: the beautiful woman who was "gagging for it", as the News of the World put it; "shameless", a "maneater", a "football groupie" in the words of the other papers; the "gold digger" who was "money hungry", seducing men for their wallets. October 4, 201014 yr does this mean JT will be given the england captaincy back? been as he did nowt wrong to be stripped of it in the first place i doubt it
October 4, 201014 yr does this mean JT will be given the england captaincy back? been as he did nowt wrong to be stripped of it in the first place i doubt it That's not going to happen haha, Capello and the media is in bed with Steven Gerrard (who I might add has been accused of assault in the past).
October 4, 201014 yr Ohhhhh M yyyyyyy Goooses (see, no abbreviations Moi!), what a surprise! I hope JT takes every tabloid to the bank, and he is entitled. This baseless slander/libel has cost him sponsorship deals, lost him a national captaincy, and took undue emotional stress upon himself and his family. I hope he takes every single rag who printed this crap without bothering to verify any of the "facts" to court for millions each. I also hope, and I know many here wont like this, for the lads to show JT the same support Man City players showed Bridge. If I were a Frank Lampard of an Ashley Cole, I would refuse to wear the England shirt again until Capello and the FA gave a written apology to JT. They helped embarass him for nothing more than the lies and filth of some trashy papers, the least they can do is man up and amdit their mistake. Im not saying they have to offer him the armband back, you cant sacrifice team unity/stability for a person even in these circumstances, however a formal apology is in order IMO. Its almost sad how predictable this was, almost as sad as how predictable it was that Rooney would not get 1/10th of the abuse JT got.
October 4, 201014 yr That's not going to happen haha, Capello and the media is in bed with Steven Gerrard (who I might add has been accused of assault in the past). Accused? More like caught on video multiple times.....In a bar once, and on the field plenty!
October 4, 201014 yr Ok, no abbreviations, but the plural of Goose is Geese, Barry! I agree he should sue them to bankruptcy. But I don't think Frank and Ash should refuse to play because I don't think JT would want them to do that. And I DO think he should be given the armband back. They were more than ready to sacrifice team stability before - giving the armband back to its rightful owner is only likely to bring greater stability to the team.
October 4, 201014 yr The audacity of the Sun to praise Carlo is sickening, it makes the blood boil. If there is anything more odious than the tabloid press I don't think I've seen it. The problem is this kind of "reporting" is systemic and because of the power the press wield at election time, noone has the guts to amend it with some serious legislation.
October 8, 201014 yr The Guardian did a feature on the press apologies yesterday: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/greenslade/2010/oct/07/newsoftheworld-john-terry These apologies are remarkable. Both papers not only own up to having published private information but also admit it was inaccurate. He then adds: Now two papers have owned up and I wouldn't be surprised if a third was on the verge of being pressured into doing the same. He does paint a rather one-eyed view of who the victim is in this story, but you have to remember that the Guardian does despise Chelsea.
October 8, 201014 yr You have to laugh. These tabloids can spend weeks slandering an innocent person knowing they can get away with it by printing a vague, well-hidden apology a few months later. And what exactly are they sorry for? All of it? Part of it? Sorry they lied? Sorry they were caught lying? Sorry they had to say sorry?
