Hello all, I come in peace.

I run a Manchester United site (blog/forum) called Stretford End Arising.

As we face each other on Sunday are you interested in answering a few questions regarding Chelsea? The aim is to give my readers an insight into United's next opponents.

Fulham, West Ham and Everton fans have already participated this season in what I'm calling "Other Side Of The Coin". Here is a link to feature.

Regards,

SEA

Hello.

We get a few opposition fans asking about features like this, I remember I did a Q&A for a Sunderland forum last season.

I'll answer some questions if you like.

Posted

Firstly, welcome to the shed end!

I would be more than happy to answer a few questions, and Im sure other posters would happily oblige. After all, we lowered ourselves to doing the same for a dipper recently, so anything is a step up. ;)

I think these Q and A things are great. A good way to get past the shouting idiots and see the real perspectives of rival fans.

Thank you for the welcome and allowing me to ask questions :)

I hope the questions are okay...

1. What are your thoughts on Sunday’s game, how important is it for Chelsea to claim maximum points?

2. Frank Lampard is expected to start, how big is his return for Chelsea? What team do you expect Ancelotti to select?

3. Do you know the reason why Ray Wilkins left Chelsea? Would you care to speculate? Frank Arnesen is leaving when his contract expires at the end of season and Ancelotti appears to be a lonely figure. What is happening behind the scenes at Chelsea?

4. If everyone is fit Chelsea have a very strong starting XI. However, is there an over reliance on younger players if first regulars are unavailable? Is Chelsea’s squad lacking strength in depth?

5. The reason for Chelsea’s drop in form, is it the departure of Wilkins? Or,is it injuries/suspensions to key players?

6. What are your thoughts on new signing Ramires?

7. Which Chelsea youngsters are worth keeping an eye on and why? Josh McEachran and Gaël Kakuta and Fabio Borini are names that spring to mind.

I hope the questions are okay...

1. What are your thoughts on Sunday’s game, how important is it for Chelsea to claim maximum points?

Important but not imperitive in my opinion, a good performance regardless of points gained or lost could help shape the rest of the season for us, I think there will be more strange results for the top teams and it won't be decided in December.

2. Frank Lampard is expected to start, how big is his return for Chelsea? What team do you expect Ancelotti to select?

You only have to look at Franks record to see how important he is to the way we play, his Goals from midfield are testiment to that but by no means the whole story, I expect Carlo to Start Frank with Essien and Mikel, Mikel has been a bit out of sorts of late but I expect him to be back to his best for this game, Anelka Drogba and Malouda likely to play although Anelka has suffered like Mikel of late, Ferreira (Bosingwa if fit) Ivanovic Terry and Cole in front of Cech.

3. Do you know the reason why Ray Wilkins left Chelsea? Would you care to speculate? Frank Arnesen is leaving when his contract expires at the end of season and Ancelotti appears to be a lonely figure. What is happening behind the scenes at Chelsea?

No idea why Ray went, I liked him but to be honest I'm unsure what hi exact role was, coincidence I feel had us on a poor run, not to say he couldn't have helped had he still been here, Arneson seems to have been thinking about his future for a while, dont really know what to make of it if anything. Carlo has looked a bit forlorn of late but that could just as much be down to results as anything behind the scenes.

4. If everyone is fit Chelsea have a very strong starting XI. However, is there an over reliance on younger players if first regulars are unavailable? Is Chelsea’s squad lacking strength in depth?

I think the plan of cutting down the wage bill was always going to leave us tight squad wise and the young players although looking exciting are still very young to bring into the team at the same time as losing more experienced players...ok one at a time but its not ideal to put them in next to fringe players rather than next to established players. It has bit us in the bum a bit losing players like Carvalho and Ballack but the injury to Benayoun was unlucky as was the unusual occurance of Lampard missing three months.

5. The reason for Chelsea’s drop in form, is it the departure of Wilkins? Or,is it injuries/suspensions to key players?

Again I don't think the Wilkins thing is anything to do with the dip...that started while he was here, I do think injuries and Essiens suspension have cost us.

6. What are your thoughts on new signing Ramires? I'm quite happy with Ramires so far, he wasn't bought to be put straight into the first team and has had to adapt very quickly, hes made mistakes but will learn a lot from the games hes started and be an important player towards the end of the season.

7. Which Chelsea youngsters are worth keeping an eye on and why? Josh McEachran and Gaël Kakuta and Fabio Borini are names that spring to mind.

I really rate Mceachran and think he has something special for such a young player, I also have a feeling Van Aanholt could be a future star.

8. Favourite Manchester United vs Chelsea match and Why?

There have been many but I enjoyed last seasons game when Joey Cole scored his last goal for us and effectively made sure the Title came home, I liked Joey and I'm glad his last season for us though a bad one for him still had a stand out piece of skill that I'll remember.

9. Favourite all time Chelsea player and why?

Charlie Cooke from the 70s, he had such great ball control and I used to watch him and go into the street and practice his tricks, Zola came very close for me as well.

1. What are your thoughts on Sunday’s game, how important is it for Chelsea to claim maximum points?

- It's not the end of the world if we don't get the three points. After all, there's plenty more games to be played and loads of points to be gained. But getting three points would be excellent for two reasons. First of all we would be back in the race for real and not too many points behind. Secondly it would be a statement from us that we are getting back on track and that we will challenge for the title.

2. Frank Lampard is expected to start, how big is his return for Chelsea? What team do you expect Ancelotti to select?

- Lampard returning means alot. We can go a few games without him and win, but in the end we seem to rely too much on him (apparently he's only midfielder we have that can run against the opposing defence). He gave us a boost against Spurs and he will surely do the same against United.

As for what team Carlo will select I think most positions are pretty much set. The only real questions is whether Bosingwa will be able to play and if Carlo dare to put Drogba on the bench again.

So the team should be:

Cech

Ferreira/Bosingwa - Ivanovic - Terry - Cole

Essien - Mikel - Lampard

Anelka - Drogba - Malouda (if Drogba don't play it'll be Anelka in the centre and Kalou out wide)

3. Do you know the reason why Ray Wilkins left Chelsea? Would you care to speculate? Frank Arnesen is leaving when his contract expires at the end of season and Ancelotti appears to be a lonely figure. What is happening behind the scenes at Chelsea?

- Honestly, I have no idea and I'm tired of speculating since it wont get me anywhere. The feeling about Wilkins departure is however that people went over Ancelottis head and decided Wilkins wasn't needed anymore. Ancelotti didn't seem to know anything about it and the players were disappointed.

Can't tell you if this is true however.

4. If everyone is fit Chelsea have a very strong starting XI. However, is there an over reliance on younger players if first regulars are unavailable? Is Chelsea’s squad lacking strength in depth?

- I think we had the right idea when we trimmed the squad, but I do feel we might have trimmed it a bit too much. Would have liked to have someone like Ballack here when Lampard was out.

But the injury list we've had would have made things hard on any team (apart from perhaps City). And unfortunately the youngsters haven't really stepped up. McEachran has done really well but I have not been impressed by Sturridge, Kakuta or Bruma. Van Aanholt has been solid, but he hasn't played much.

5. The reason for Chelsea’s drop in form, is it the departure of Wilkins? Or,is it injuries/suspensions to key players?

- I think our drop in form started before Wilkins departure but it might have made things a bit worse. But as I don't know what went on there I can't say if it's true or not.

The main reason for our drop in form was without a question the injuries/suspensions. I mean, just look at the list: Lampard, Kalou, Benayoun, Alex, Terry, Essien, Zhirkov. Did I miss anyone? As I said before, that list would make any team buckle.

But now as more and more players have returned things have started to look better. So the injuries was responsible. Damn them!

6. What are your thoughts on new signing Ramires?

- I think he has potential to become really good, but he hasn't exactly been great so far. I don't think the plan was to rush him into the team but the injuries forced us to and I think that wasn't good for him. And we've seen other players needing a season or two to reach their potential here so I think we will see a much better Ramires in the future.

Can't say I knew much about him before he came, but people who know more about players seem to think he's really good. Still young as well so there's much time for improvement.

7. Which Chelsea youngsters are worth keeping an eye on and why? Josh McEachran and Gaël Kakuta and Fabio Borini are names that spring to mind.

- There are many with potential but few have showed it so far. The big exception is Josh McEachran who has been really solid when he's played so far. And the kid is only 17 years old! I hope he keeps getting better and better because he has potential to become a really good player. Hopefully we'll see a new Lampard who will be with us for many years.

8. Favourite Manchester United vs Chelsea match and Why?

- I'm always bad at remembering games but the 1-0 win with Terry scoring the winner last year was really nice and that win was very important for the outcome of the league as well.

9. Favourite all time Chelsea player and why?

- Always a tough one. There's so many players I love, like Zola, Terry and Lampard (obviously more but I can't write them all). But there's one player that I loved before he came to Chelsea and was great here as well and that's Claude Makelele. So he's my favourite player ever, I think.

Thank you for the welcome and allowing me to ask questions :)

I hope the questions are okay...

1. What are your thoughts on Sunday’s game, how important is it for Chelsea to claim maximum points?

I would not be too upset if it ended up as a draw, given our record as of late, and I don't think that would be the death knell to Chelsea winning the title this season. A loss would be very difficult to overcome.

2. Frank Lampard is expected to start, how big is his return for Chelsea? What team do you expect Ancelotti to select?

Lamps return is huge, given our goal drought. As to the team for selection, I see:

Cech

Bosingwa Ivan JT A Cole

Mikel

Essien Lamps Malouda

Anelka Drogba

3. Do you know the reason why Ray Wilkins left Chelsea? Would you care to speculate? Frank Arnesen is leaving when his contract expires at the end of season and Ancelotti appears to be a lonely figure. What is happening behind the scenes at Chelsea?

Don't know why Ray Wilkins left, but I think it has hurt the team. Probably a bit of things going on behind the scenes, likely Roman is tightening the purse-strings while Ancellotti is not happy about that, but that is pure speculation on my part.

4. If everyone is fit Chelsea have a very strong starting XI. However, is there an over reliance on younger players if first regulars are unavailable? Is Chelsea’s squad lacking strength in depth?

I think it is clear that when we let Belletti, Deco, J. Cole and Ballack go, that was a mistake, especially due to our injuries, the major one being (surprise!) Benayoun, in my opinion.

5. The reason for Chelsea’s drop in form, is it the departure of Wilkins? Or,is it injuries/suspensions to key players?

I think a little of both.

6. What are your thoughts on new signing Ramires?

Give him more time to adapt to the Premier League. Look at Nani, and how it took him some time to adapt.

7. Which Chelsea youngsters are worth keeping an eye on and why? Josh McEachran and Gaël Kakuta and Fabio Borini are names that spring to mind.

Josh is really something special, and I hope he gets more playing time as the season progresses. Don't forget van Aaholt and Bruma, both talented defensemen.

8. Favourite Manchester United vs Chelsea match and Why?

The 3-0 game a few seasons back, with Joe Cole scoring the third goal.

9. Favourite all time Chelsea player and why?

Strange choice, but mine is Ed de Goey, the keeper from a few years back.

1. What are your thoughts on Sunday’s game, how important is it for Chelsea to claim maximum points?

Vitally important to our chances of winning the title. If we win, we go level on points with yourselves. Lose and we'll be six points behind and you've got a game in hand.

2. Frank Lampard is expected to start, how big is his return for Chelsea? What team do you expect Ancelotti to select?

The strongest available. Frank Lampard has been a massive miss. We've missed his link-up play, his goals, his creativity and his experience. We've been hit worse because Benayoun, who would have been the natural replacement, is out with a long term injury.

3. Do you know the reason why Ray Wilkins left Chelsea? Would you care to speculate? Frank Arnesen is leaving when his contract expires at the end of season and Ancelotti appears to be a lonely figure. What is happening behind the scenes at Chelsea?

Not as much as the media would have you believe. I also think that Ancelotti's "loneliness" has been vastly overstated. Of course he's under pressure, it goes with the job. I think it was Bruce Buck who said that Arnesen's forthcoming departure came as no surprise. He'd already stated, apparently that he wanted to move on to a fresh challenge. I don't know why Ray Wilkins left. According to Ray himself "Mr Abramovich had decided it was time for a change".

4. If everyone is fit Chelsea have a very strong starting XI. However, is there an over reliance on younger players if first regulars are unavailable? Is Chelsea’s squad lacking strength in depth?

In releasing and not replacing so many senior players at the end of last season, I think the club gambled on key players (Drogba, Terry, Lampard, Essien etc) staying fit and on form, intending to ease the youngsters in gradually. Unforeseen injuries meant this wasn't possible, and did indeed leave the squad looking a little threadbare.

5. The reason for Chelsea’s drop in form, is it the departure of Wilkins? Or,is it injuries/suspensions to key players?

Injuries, illness and suspensions. I've heard people claim that Ray Wilkins was the real reason for our success last season, which is clearly bollocks. I'm not saying his departure had no effect on the players, but that any effect was minimal and shouldn't be used as an excuse.

6. What are your thoughts on new signing Ramires?

I've got no time for those Chelsea fans who've tried to use him as a scapegoat. I think he'll be a great player. In fact Id' say he's improving week by week. He's been very much thrown in at the deep end: new team, new league, new country, new culture, new language. Injuries also meant that he's already had a lot more playing time than anyone expected, including himself.

7. Which Chelsea youngsters are worth keeping an eye on and why? Josh McEachran and Gaël Kakuta and Fabio Borini are names that spring to mind.

I'm hoping Borini and Kakuta will both sign new contracts and go on to fulfill their early promise. Borini is currently out having either had or due to have surgery. Previous injuries, have I think, delayed his progress. Kakuta has been going through a bit of a sticky patch this season. He hasn't looked right, even for the reserves. I think maybe he's trying too hard at times. Josh is quite simply an outstanding prospect. There are others, including a 15 year old whose name I still can't spell, and Patrick Van Aanholt is another who looks a very good prospect. Also we've got numerous players out on loan. Whether any of them actually makes it at Stamford Bridge remains to be seen.

8. Favourite Manchester United vs Chelsea match and Why?

How about ... the 3-1 at the end of the 2004-2005 season, the "guard of honour" game. We'd already won the Premiership, and this match I feel, showed more than any other that we were well and truly worthy title winners.

9. Favourite all time Chelsea player and why?

Peter Osgood. When I was a nipper, many years ago, Peter Osgood was Chelsea. Ossie was a great player, and a great man, a true legend. To this day you'll still hear "Osgood, Osgood, born is the king of Stamford Bridge". There'll only ever be one Ossie.

8. Favourite Manchester United vs Chelsea match and Why?

Sunday, October 3rd, 1999, I'm in a pub with about 200 Manure fans and me, and your lot arrive on a 29 match unbeaten streak. 2-0 up after 16 minutes we're looking good and then Dennis Wise and Nicky Butt clash in the centre circle. All seemed ok for a few seconds but as the referee arrived Butt kicks out seemingly for no reason. Replays later revealed that Dennis had pinched Nicky on the upper region of his inner thigh. I nearly vomited I was laughing so much. In the last 30 minutes we tore you a new one. 5-0.

1. What are your thoughts on Sunday’s game, how important is it for Chelsea to claim maximum points?

I think it's definitely our biggest match of the season. Our rough patch has hit us hard, we're 4th now, when at one point we were 5 points clear. I genuinely believe a draw won't do in this match, a win is a must to get us back on track, and also for a much much much needed confidence boost.

2. Frank Lampard is expected to start, how big is his return for Chelsea? What team do you expect Ancelotti to select?

Lamps coming back is absolutely huge. We've definitely missed his presence, I think it was taken for granted that he is the main point of communication between defence and attack, such is his box-to-box abilities. It seemed for a little while that it wouldn't be his goalscoring we would miss the most, Malouda seemed to be doing just fine filling that role, but it became clear that we needed someone that can just pop up from nowhere to deliver a vital touch, Essien, Ramires and certainly not Mikel were never likely to be able to do that.

The team should really pick itself, with Lamps starting. Cech, Ferreira, Ivanovic, JT, Cole, Mikel, Essien, Lampard, Anelka, Drogba, Malouda. That's the ideal team, whether the front 3 will be like that will have to wait, Kalou has been favoured over Anelka or Drogba a lot recently.

3. Do you know the reason why Ray Wilkins left Chelsea? Would you care to speculate? Frank Arnesen is leaving when his contract expires at the end of season and Ancelotti appears to be a lonely figure. What is happening behind the scenes at Chelsea?

I have absolutely no idea on Wilkins, I really don't. Whether it was a disagreement with Roman, Carlo, Gourlay, God knows. I think what could be happening is that Carlo has already lined up his assistants, Emenalo doesn't seem to be a long term replacement. It could possibly mean Carlo's team from Milan could be coming here, I'm not sure, we'll have to wait and see.

4. If everyone is fit Chelsea have a very strong starting XI. However, is there an over reliance on younger players if first regulars are unavailable? Is Chelsea’s squad lacking strength in depth?

Maybe not an over reliance, more an over expectance of them. People like McEachran and Kakuta, some have expected them to come on and change games instantly, and it hasn't happened quite like that. I think strength in depth is an issue, most definitely up front. In midfield and defence we have a very strong set, and players like McEachran and Bruma can slot into it, alongside the experienced JT for example. Up front, it's definitely either getting on a bit (Drogba, Anelka, Malouda - first choice attack - are all 30+ now), still underachieving (Kalou!) or too young to be relied on totally as yet (Sturridge).

5. The reason for Chelsea’s drop in form, is it the departure of Wilkins? Or,is it injuries/suspensions to key players?

Injuries and suspensions are the key ones I think. It's just crazy that in our spine of Cech, JT, Essien, Lampard and Drogba, 4 of them have been injured or suspended, pretty much all at the same time, it's just a terrible stroke of luck.

6. What are your thoughts on new signing Ramires?

He's not quite adapted yet to the Premiership, but he's definitely improving. His energy will be useful, as he just runs and runs and runs, like Park does for you, for example, he doesn't stop. He was a big help against Tottenham on the weekend too, he was a big factor in stopping Bale.

7. Which Chelsea youngsters are worth keeping an eye on and why? Josh McEachran and Gaël Kakuta and Fabio Borini are names that spring to mind.

McEachran is definitely the one on top at the moment. Every appearance he's made he's been nothing short of remarkable for a 17 year old. The videos on YouTube of him should prove that, he should be included more and more, starts in the FA Cup are essential and starts in the league every now and then too, against teams like West Ham or Wolves. Kakuta was one we all had very high hopes for after Kakuta-gate, but since then he's been disappointing, he definitely has talent, but he's trying a bit too hard at the moment, trying to run with the ball a lot, dribble past players when passing it to a player in space is clearly the better option. A player that has been getting rave reviews on here is Patrick Van Aanholt, a dutch left back that's clearly picked up a lot of tips from Ashley Cole, he played for 90 minutes against Zilina in the Champions League a few weeks ago, and he was excellent, clear Man of the Match. He could step into Ashley's shoes very easily, although whether he could keep Ronaldo in his pocket like Ashley did when he played for you is another question entirely ;)

8. Favourite Manchester United vs Chelsea match and Why?

3 spring to mind. The 3-0 demolition of you to seal our second premiership title was incredible, the 2-1 last season was also amazing, and the 3-3 at your place back in the early 2000s, Hasselbaink scoring an absolute screamer.

9. Favourite all time Chelsea player and why?

I've always had an affinity to Eidur Gudjohnsen, his class was there for all to see, his bicycle against Leeds is my favourite goal of all time, and he's an all round nice guy too. He never got the praise he deserved in my book, but his partnership with Hasselbaink was second to none, love the guy.

Cheers!

Welcome, and thanks for this. Always good to interact with opposing fans in a friendly bit of banter

1. What are your thoughts on Sunday’s game, how important is it for Chelsea to claim maximum points?

Well now that it's been called off it's a bit of a downer. However, assuming it were going ahead, I would rate it as very high in importance. I don't think it would be season ending if we lost, but I don't want Man Utd getting too far out in front. The way we've been playing, I'd be happy with a draw.

2. Frank Lampard is expected to start, how big is his return for Chelsea? What team do you expect Ancelotti to select?

A midfielder that comes in with approximately 20 goals a season, and has done so consistantly for a few good seasons in a row. Of course he's important.

3. Do you know the reason why Ray Wilkins left Chelsea? Would you care to speculate? Frank Arnesen is leaving when his contract expires at the end of season and Ancelotti appears to be a lonely figure. What is happening behind the scenes at Chelsea?

No idea why Wilkins left, but all the crap about him being linked with the club for 30 years is nonsense. He was off playing for you lot, and all other places between stints at Chelsea. I don't care to speculate as that's what the press do. Arnesen has done what he came to do, I can see him being scooped up by Man City in the summer to try and replicate his job there. I suppose we'll never know what goes on behind the scenes at our club. This is what we have to deal with in having a "shadowy figure" of an owner. Also, your lot are in a very unique position in having Sir Alex having as much control at the club as he does - and rightly so, he's one of the greatest managers in the history of the game.

4. If everyone is fit Chelsea have a very strong starting XI. However, is there an over reliance on younger players if first regulars are unavailable? Is Chelsea’s squad lacking strength in depth?

I think that's a fair assesment. We are strong when all fit, but we can't expect the kids to step up and fill the shoes of players like Ballack, Deco, and Belletti in one season. So we are lacking in depth a little. however, I am glad we didn't go out and spend more money ( a positive trend for us in the past couple of seasons) on expensive replacements, and are looking to give the kids a chance.

5. The reason for Chelsea’s drop in form, is it the departure of Wilkins? Or,is it injuries/suspensions to key players?

I'm sure Wilkins departure has had an effect, it has to be tough as a player seeing things being unsettled like they are on the sidelines. however, the injuries and suspensions are by far the bigger issue.

6. What are your thoughts on new signing Ramires?

Just that, a new signing. If we wrote him off as quickly as some - even on these forums - we'd be foolish. Thankfully we didn't write Drogba off, or Malouda off, after one season. We have a Brazilian international player on our books...that sstill amazes me.

7. Which Chelsea youngsters are worth keeping an eye on and why? Josh McEachran and Gaël Kakuta and Fabio Borini are names that spring to mind.

You've certainly hit 3 of the big ones there. I'd also look out for Gokan Tore, Lalkovic, Sala, and the 15 year old Chalombah (spelling may be off there, but I can't be arsed looking it up).

8. Favourite Manchester United vs Chelsea match and Why? 5-0 in 99. You were the darling of European Football. And Jody "git" Morris, and Chris Sutton even got on the scoresheet. I'll even go one better and tell you the worst - 94 FA Cup final, then the obvious Moscow CL Finale

9. Favourite all time Chelsea player and why?

Only been following Chelsea since around 94, so I can only talk about those I have seen play: Zola, just a class wee player, and a genius. Also, the way he made Carragher and half the liverpoo squad look like muppets in his final season is priceless. Then I'd say Eddie Newton, Gullit, Desailly, Gudjohnsen, Maka, Lampard, and the very short love affair with Hernan Crespo.

Thanks. I think you'll find a common hatred for Liverpool in these forums.

OK, the games off, but I'll still have a go...

1. What are your thoughts on Sunday’s game, how important is it for Chelsea to claim maximum points?

Not a big deal, neither side is playing particularly well

2. Frank Lampard is expected to start, how big is his return for Chelsea? What team do you expect Ancelotti to select?

It's too earlry for Lamps to start a game like this. I expect Ancelotti to select his lover, Paulo Ferreira, even if he's dead

3.. Do you know the reason why Ray Wilkins left Chelsea? Would you care to speculate? Frank Arnesen is leaving when his contract expires at the end of season and Ancelotti appears to be a lonely figure. What is happening behind the scenes at Chelsea?

Something is obviously going on behind the scenes, your guess is as good as mine

4. If everyone is fit Chelsea have a very strong starting XI. However, is there an over reliance on younger players if first regulars are unavailable? Is Chelsea’s squad lacking strength in depth?

We're not lacking depth if everyone's fit, but that just doesn't happen. We should never have let Ballack leave.

5. The reason for Chelsea’s drop in form, is it the departure of Wilkins? Or,is it injuries/suspensions to key players?

Personally I put it down to Ancelotti, his tactics and substitutiions have been Scolari-esque lately

6.. What are your thoughts on new signing Ramires?

He's still finding his feet in the Premiership, next season will be the time to judge him

7. Which Chelsea youngsters are worth keeping an eye on and why? Josh McEachran and Gaël Kakuta and Fabio Borini are names that spring to mind.

Kakuta and Borini are excellent prospects, but McEachran is way ahead of them, even at 17.

8. Favourite Manchester United vs Chelsea match and Why?

1968/69, Chelsea 3 Man.Utd 2, I was just 11 when I watched that but I'll never forget it, what a cracking game! Also the 2-3 defeat at the Bridge in 71/72, when George Best (best player I've ever seen, by the way) got sent off for throwing a lump of mud at the ref :laugh2:

9. Favourite all time Chelsea player and why?

Peter Osgood, he was a God at Chelsea, and despite all the signings over the years we've never seen a better player here yet.

1. What are your thoughts on Sunday’s game, how important is it for Chelsea to claim maximum points?

I think it will be postponed and neither side will get any points. Why was it postponed? Because of modern day H&S madness - nothing more, nothing less despite what the Daily Mail may be suggesting

2. Frank Lampard is expected to start, how big is his return for Chelsea? What team do you expect Ancelotti to select?

Lamps coming back is a massive boost for everyone. 2nd part of the question ireelevant now so I won't answer.

3. Do you know the reason why Ray Wilkins left Chelsea? Would you care to speculate? Frank Arnesen is leaving when his contract expires

at the end of season and Ancelotti appears to be a lonely figure. What is happening behind the scenes at Chelsea?

Yes I do. No I wouldn't. That's for me to know and for others to find out but Carlo is definitely NOT a lonely figure.

4. If everyone is fit Chelsea have a very strong starting XI. However, is there an over reliance on younger players if first regulars are unavailable? Is Chelsea’s squad lacking strength in depth?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but losing JT, Alex, Lamps, Benayoun and Essien at the same time would cripple most teams. Difficult to legislate for losses like that but in truth the club maybe need one possibly two more added to the squad.

5. The reason for Chelsea’s drop in form, is it the departure of Wilkins? Or,is it injuries/suspensions to key players?

Nothing to do with Ray, far more to do with the loss of players I listed above

6. What are your thoughts on new signing Ramires?

He will come good

7. Which Chelsea youngsters are worth keeping an eye on and why? Josh McEachran and Gaël Kakuta and Fabio Borini are names that spring to mind.

Josh is way ahead of the rest. Kakuta seems to be stuck in a rut at the moment and needs to take is head out of his butt before it's too late. Borini has disappeared off the radar. Bruma has had a setback with a couple of niggling but fairly serious injuries. Van Aanholt is a very promising prospect. Watch out for 15 year old Chalombah who looks to be an incredible prospect. Billy Clifford is showing a lot of promise as is Conor Clifford (no relation). The future is looking very bright but these guys need to be mixed in with experience (bit like the golden generation at your place who really came to the fore when Cantona was added to the mix)

8. Favourite Manchester United vs Chelsea match and Why?

72/73 - Bobby Charlton's last game and Ossie scored the winner off his knee. Not a great game but one that I use to taunt the scousers with to show I was at a game that created a bit of footbal 'istry!

9. Favourite all time Chelsea player and why?

Charlie Cooke. Not only my favourite Chelsea player but also my favourite ever player. Made the ball do the work and when you look at the pitched played on back then it makes you wonder how such players would perform on the billiard tables nowadays

Oh yes i was in a similar situation in a pub that day , great memories .

i was lucky enough to be at it,even jody morris scored, but my favourite game was in 96/97 season when the ball hits the back of the old trafford net its VIALLI.

Here are questions (hope they are okay):

1. What are your thoughts on Tuesday’s game? What team is Carlo Ancelotti likely to select and what formation will he adopt? Where will the game be won or lost?

2. What are your thoughts on the signings of Torres and Luiz? How have they fared so far for Chelsea? In your opinion is Torres an Ancelotti or Abramovich signing? How has Ramires progressed since we last spoke?

3. The last time we spoke the general consensus of Chelsea’s slump in form was not due to the departure of Wilkins. Have opinions changed? Why do you believe Chelsea have only managed 5 victories in their last 16 league games?

4. Would Chelsea failing to qualify for Champions League football be disastrous? Would you expect established players to leave in the summer? Do you expect Drogba to be a Chelsea player next season regardless of Champions League qualification?

5. We also discussed several youngsters including Josh McEachran, Gaël Kakuta, Patrick Van Aanholt, Nathaniel Chalobah, Conor Clifford, Billy Clifford and Fabio Borin. How are they progressing? Are there any other young players emerging from the ranks?

Hello again,

1. What are your thoughts on Tuesday’s game? What team is Carlo Ancelotti likely to select and what formation will he adopt? Where will the game be won or lost?

Always tough matches against Man Utd, and over the recent years they have usually been close affairs. I think we have the problem of a team short in confidence, while Man U are coming in having played a heavy run of games and then in the back of your minds will surely be the match against Liverpool later this week. I think with Tottenham losing, and Citeh drawing, this becomes very important for us to try and secure a top 4.

I hope we don't start Drogba and Torres. I'd rather see us play with Nico and Torres, or Nico and Drogba. 4-3-3 probably with Essien in the more defensive role with Lampard and Ramires ahead of them.

Game will be won and lost in the final 3rd for both teams.

2. What are your thoughts on the signings of Torres and Luiz? How have they fared so far for Chelsea? In your opinion is Torres an Ancelotti or Abramovich signing? How has Ramires progressed since we last spoke?

Torres will have to adapt, and the team will have to adapt to him. I think we paid too much for him, but to see Liverpool pay $35 Million for Carroll is just laughable. Luiz is a great player, and certainly one I am very happy with. As to who signed Torres...probably Roman, I just hope we don't line up against your mod on Tuesday with the front three of Torres, Nico and Drogba. Then we're seeing Carlo play players due to reputation, and not how they are playing. Ramires has been very good. In the FA Cup he was a great player, good work rate, but Felaini was pretty handy in pushing him off the ball...which is a concern.

3. The last time we spoke the general consensus of Chelsea’s slump in form was not due to the departure of Wilkins. Have opinions changed? Why do you believe Chelsea have only managed 5 victories in their last 16 league games?

I don't completely buy into the fact that Wilkins is to blame. However, I don't know what to put it down to. It seems to me that there is a complacency and a Malaise in our camp, I think some players are realizing that their places are not in Jeopardy, and don't look bothered.

4. Would Chelsea failing to qualify for Champions League football be disastrous? Would you expect established players to leave in the summer? Do you expect Drogba to be a Chelsea player next season regardless of Champions League qualification?

Yes it would be a huge loss, both financially and as a matter of pride. I don't think it'd be disastrous as some people are making it out. I just think it shows that we can't keep relying on the same old players. There are some tired legs out there, and the squad needs freshening up. We've not spent that much in the last few years, and then let a good number of players go. I think we will see some players leave in the summer, but I expect that whether or not we qualify for the CL. Drogba is one of the players I expect to leave. I think we'll see him making a move back to Marseille, where he can get a hero's return. I also expect players like Nico and Lampard to stay, but play lesser roles. Quite like Giggs and Scholes for Man U. Maybe we'll see Malouda and Zhirkov leave - but that depends if we sign a left winger or not.

McEchran seems to be the most promising of the lot, and he's on the fringes of the first team. PVA is on loan, along with Bruma which is good for the lads. The only loan that doesn't look promising is Kakuta, as he's gone from our bench to warming Fulhams. The rest are all still in the ressies, but it'll be interesting to see. Others to look out for: Gokan Tore, and Jacob Mellis.

1. He's likely to select pretty much the same team he does win, lose, or draw. It'll be something along the lines of: Cech, Cole, Terry, Luiz, Ivanovic, Essien, Lampard, Ramires, Malouda, Anelka, Torres. I reckon he'll keep Drogba on the bench, since Torres and Anelka played well last time out, plus Drogba needs a reminder that he's not going to start every game nowadays.

2. Luiz was a great signing and he'll be a big player for us for years to come I hope. Torres...well. I feel we may have another SHevchenko situation on our hands. But hopefully he can prove me wrong.

3. Because a) the squad is mostly old and reaching the end of their careers. B) we had injuries to key players. c) No matter what happened, Carlo refused to alter the lineup or the system and try something different, like throwing in a couple of youngsters from the start, or trrying a different formation. It was the same crap week after week.

4) I think quite a few "big" players will leave in the summer anyway. It would be disappointing, and financially it wouldn't be great, nor would we be able to attract the kind of players the club wants, but it's hardly the end of the world. We never used to get into the champions league before Roman came along, only once under Vialli, so it's not like we have a universal given right to be there.

5. McEachran - PLays well every time he gets on, shows real composure and skill. Carlo said a while ago he was ready to start in the PL, but has barely featured since then, so clearly he's not willing to risk him with the CL spot being still up for grabs. Kakuta - On loan at Fulham, not featuring much though. He won't make it at Chelsea. Van Aarnholt - On loan at Leicester, played well against Derby, but apparantly defensively poor recently. Still think he's a good playter though and should be rotated with Cole next season at LB. Chalobah - No idea, I don't watch youth/reserve matches unless they are big cup games. C.Clifford, B.Clifford - Same answer. Borini - Scoring lots of goals in the reserves, but looks like he might be on his way out, which is a shame, because I think he could have done well if given a chance.

1. What are your thoughts on Tuesday’s game? What team is Carlo Ancelotti likely to select and what formation will he adopt? Where will the game be won or lost?

Simple. Win at all cost. 12 points behind your lot, I don't have any title hopes, its all about that top 4 spot for me.

The team that Carlo is likely to go with would be 4-3-3,

Cech

Luiz-Ivan---Terry-Cole

Essien

Ramires-Lampard

Anelka-----------Malouda

Torres

The game will be won/lost (drawn I actually feel) in midfield. Usually I'd be confident our midfield is stronger than yours, but not this time. All the other match ups seem pretty even. Nani v Cole will be a very important one, although I noticed he was playing on the left against Wigan. So either way, depending on Giggs' fitness. Torres has had some success against Vidic in the past as you'll remember, so that should be another intersting match up and we're hoping he can open his account this time.

2. What are your thoughts on the signings of Torres and Luiz? How have they fared so far for Chelsea? In your opinion is Torres an Ancelotti or Abramovich signing? How has Ramires progressed since we last spoke?

Luiz is exactly the type of signing we demand. Young but at the same time, established. Torres was completely out of the blue, and there are/were many skeptics among fellow blues, but I feel its a great buy albeit overpriced, and he'll come good in time. Definitely a Roman signing imo.

Ramires is still improving. He has probably been our best midfielder for the last couple months or so, although thats not saying much. Its his attitude and energy that is refreshing and gives us hope for the future.

3. The last time we spoke the general consensus of Chelsea’s slump in form was not due to the departure of Wilkins. Have opinions changed? Why do you believe Chelsea have only managed 5 victories in their last 16 league games?

The slump in form began with several reasons like injuries and suspensions to key players, and then later translated into a complete loss of confidence, which has lead to a prolonged slump. This is where Carlo has been more part of the problem than the solution I feel.

4. Would Chelsea failing to qualify for Champions League football be disastrous? Would you expect established players to leave in the summer? Do you expect Drogba to be a Chelsea player next season regardless of Champions League qualification?

It wouldn't call it disastrous. But with the FFP rules, once we're out of it, I feel it will be tough for us to get back in, with our aging squad. But instead of Roman packing up and leaving like the Media would like you to believe, we could see him invest heavily with renewed interest. Wishful thinking maybe.

I don't expect there to be any departures over loss of Champions league football. I do feel this could be Drogs and Malouda's last season with us regardless.

5. We also discussed several youngsters including Josh McEachran, Gaël Kakuta, Patrick Van Aanholt, Nathaniel Chalobah, Conor Clifford, Billy Clifford and Fabio Borini. How are they progressing? Are there any other young players emerging from the ranks?

Still have great hope for Josh, Kakuta and PVA. They wont develop sitting on the bench though. Kakuta's progress this season has been disappointing. Josh has had decent game time for a 17 yo, but with the circumstances in mind he might be wondering why, having done so well earlier, he's not given a chance ahead of underpar seniors.

As for other youth players to keep an eye on, Milan Lalkovic is one I hope will give us some right wing options in the future.

Hey Stretford, not sure whether I've missed the boat on this one but I had a check of your site and you don't seem to have posted anything yet so I thought I'd chip in anyway.

1) What are your thoughts on Tuesday’s game? What team is Carlo Ancelotti likely to select and what formation will he adopt? Where will the game be won or lost?

I think that if we come out and cause you some problems early on then it could be an interesting game. Despite all our problems, we've been solid at the back and have still conceded the fewest goals in the league this season. Our big problem has been scoring goals, and if you set up well at the back I think we'll have trouble. Rio's injury is helpful although Smalling has looked pretty solid in his place, so I still wouldn't consider your back line to be particularly weakened.

I think our best chance would be if we play: Cech; Cole; Terrry; Luiz; Ivanovic; Lampard; Mikel; Ramires; Zhirkov; Anelka; Torres. It's more likely that Malouda starts ahead of Zhirkov and Essien for Mikel, however.

2) What are your thoughts on the signings of Torres and Luiz? How have they fared so far for Chelsea? In your opinion is Torres an Ancelotti or Abramovich signing? How has Ramires progressed since we last spoke?

Torres is obvioously under a lot of pressure to justify his mammoth transfer fee. Obviously he's yet to score, but he looks keen, he looks focussed and he looks like he could score a lot of goals when he's had time to adjust to our system. In short, he looks like being everything Drogba should have been this season.

I'm very happy about signing Luiz. Haven't had a chance to see much of him yet but he was on fire against Fulham. If that's a sign of things to come (and I know it's not really possible to judge a guy on one game) then I honestly think he could be one of the top defenders in the world in a few years time.

Ramires has also been very good of late. Took him a little while to settle in and realise what types of challenges he could get away with and what he couldn't here in the Premiership. It also took time for him to get used to not having as much time on the ball as he did in Portugal. However, he's been one of our best midfielders the last couple of months and is another hot prospect for the future.

3) The last time we spoke the general consensus of Chelsea’s slump in form was not due to the departure of Wilkins. Have opinions changed? Why do you believe Chelsea have only managed 5 victories in their last 16 league games?

IMO, it's a confidence issue. Our defenders are still doing their job for the most part, but we're struggling to score. End of last season and the beginning of this, we had players that were on top of the world and believed they could score from anywhere. Consequently, that's what they did. A few key injuries, a personnel change and a string of losses down the line and our goalscorers have lost their edge.

4) Would Chelsea failing to qualify for Champions League football be disastrous? Would you expect established players to leave in the summer? Do you expect Drogba to be a Chelsea player next season regardless of Champions League qualification?

Failing to qualify for the Champions League would definitely be a bad thing. This season has shown that we struggle to compete on all fronts with the players we have. My view is that we need to buy a couple of players come the end of the season and without the money that comes with the CL, our ability to spend will be significantly reduced.

As for established players leaving, a number of players have disappointed for some or all of this season. It's possible that they have been over worked due to our small squad and Carlo's reluctance to play the youngsters, however, with the age of players like Drogba and Malouda, it may well be time to cut our losses and get some cash for them while they still have some value. Your guess is as good as mine for what will actually happen, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see a bit of a shake up in the dressing room before next season.

5) We also discussed several youngsters including Josh McEachran, Gaël Kakuta, Patrick Van Aanholt, Nathaniel Chalobah, Conor Clifford, Billy Clifford and Fabio Borini. How are they progressing? Are there any other young players emerging from the ranks?

My knowledge of the youngsters is somewhat limited - I tend not to follow the progress of the youth team. Having said that, McEachran has looked great in the first team appearances he's had. Likewise, Sturridge is performing admirably for Bolton.

1. What are your thoughts on Sunday’s game, how important is it for Chelsea to claim maximum points?

I think its hugely important I don't think we can afford to lose anymore games if we are to secure a Champions League place. On the other hand I don't think Man U can afford to either with their much harder run in than Arsenal's.

2. Frank Lampard is expected to start, how big is his return for Chelsea? What team do you expect Ancelotti to select?

I'm not sure even Ancelotti knows whats his best 11 but I am expecing a 4-3-3 with Cech, Ivanovioc (RB), David Luiz, Terry, A Cole, Essien, Ramires, Lampard, Anelka, Torres & Malouda

3. Do you know the reason why Ray Wilkins left Chelsea? Would you care to speculate? Frank Arnesen is leaving when his contract expires at the end of season and Ancelotti appears to be a lonely figure. What is happening behind the scenes at Chelsea?

I wish I did getting rid of him was a massive mistake. Something is clearly not right behind the scenes

4. If everyone is fit Chelsea have a very strong starting XI. However, is there an over reliance on younger players if first regulars are unavailable? Is Chelsea’s squad lacking strength in depth?

Last season we had the best squad in the league but losing players like Ballack, J Cole, Deco, Belletti and Carvalho was a massive blow

5. The reason for Chelsea’s drop in form, is it the departure of Wilkins? Or,is it injuries/suspensions to key players?

I think its a combination, the sacking of Ray timed with the injuries to key players at certain times has dented our confidence

6. What are your thoughts on new signing Ramires?

Having a tough season but in recent weeks has played fantastically I believe he'll be a great player for us

7. Which Chelsea youngsters are worth keeping an eye on and why? Josh McEachran and Gaël Kakuta and Fabio Borini are names that spring to mind.

Josh McEachran's the best of our youbg players for sure but he needs to go out on loan for me to get some first team football. Borini will be gone next season I reckon. Gael Kakuta is up and down I'm unsure about him

8. Favourite Manchester United vs Chelsea match and Why?

Chelsea 3 Man Utd 0 - 2006, back to back titles

9. Favourite all time Chelsea player and why?

Zola, best player I've ever seen, he was the player who got me into Chelsea
