Posted January 14, 201114 yr Well it seems like an age when I rang up Chelsea TV in the wake of our defeat against Inter Milan and told Gigi Salmon and Tommy Langley that we needed the squad refreshed. All the players I mentioned to go, Ferreira and Kalou apart, left the club in the summer. The one's I asked we consider buying were Van der Wiel, Luiz, Ozil, Schweinsteiger, De Maria, Lukalu and Aquero. I said at the time, Man City and if Jose went on to win the Champions League with Inter would be in for these players in the summer because he would leave them for another top side in Europe, so if we ended up with three of them we would be very lucky. As it has panned out, Man City for all their money, have failed to buy in my mind the best players available, Jose bagged Ozil and De Maria. On the day my sources tell me Steven Pioneer was at Chelsea yesterday for talks, but Chelsea refused to meet his demands or guarantee we would be adding top quality players to the squad in the summer to challenge for the top honours in the game, it may be a pipedream but, watching the Real Madrid game last night, Aquero showed all the qualities that are needed for the very top of football, he murdered Ramos, his flair, aggression and pure class shone like a beacon throughout, in a good side he will prove to be right up there for next years ballon di'or. If we continue to piss about on players like Pioneer and those nearly out of contract we will forever be a side on the verge of the top four.
January 14, 201114 yr Get used to it Star, there's no money under the mattress and uncle Roman has a world cup to pay for

January 14, 201114 yr Cant disagree with the point made here. I and others have been singing his praises in the choir for a long time now, but at this point it may just be passed reality. I think ultimately City will sign him, but if they harbor ambitions of playing in Europe they will have to get creative about getting more talent like him. Re: our policy, its all little unnerving. We have gone from overspending to drastically underspending. Hopefully once the club realize the consequences of this policy, they will have a think, move some more higher earners out the door, and get us back to a younger, hungrier core of players. With Roman and the World Cup, I have no idea why its his responsibility. Russia is drowning in oil money, and even if they were not, the commercial revenue from the world cup would surely pay off the costs of hosting it. Dont understand why a private citizen Unless Russia have gold-plated stadiums in mind.
January 14, 201114 yr He is quality, but price tag & wage demands means he won't be seen in a Chelsea shirt. I'm hoping we don't miss out on Lukaka in the summer. Pleased we didn't sign Di Maria, he's a horrible little c**t.
January 14, 201114 yr Not sure about Aguero. Obviously skilled but seems a tad overweight. I don't know if he fits in the PL.

January 14, 201114 yr Pienaar could of been a great addition to the squad in my opinion, if this is true and the club could not guarentee that we would see one or two top quality signings in the summer then it is a bit worrying. But im not really going to get worked up over it because it could be all bollocks. No thanks on Pienaar. He is not top quality and would only serve to fill a gap here and there. If he is worried about better players coming in in the summer that is enough indication as to how he feels about his own ability let alone what I think.

If he is worried about better players coming in in the summer that is enough indication as to how he feels about his own ability let alone what I think. You misread that. Pienaar wanted us to guarantee that we WOULD be signing top quality players to challenge for the top honours. He'd do a good job I reckon.
January 14, 201114 yr You misread that. Pienaar wanted us to guarantee that we WOULD be signing top quality players to challenge for the top honours. He'd do a good job I reckon. He wanted us to do what? Who the f**k does he think he is? He`s an average player who would be a squad player for us at best, exactly how much of big an opinion does he have of himself?
January 14, 201114 yr He wanted us to do what? Who the f**k does he think he is? He`s an average player who would be a squad player for us at best, exactly how much of big an opinion does he have of himself? Ditto. I think the fact we were even in talks with him, suggests that we would not be making any such guarantee. Btw does he expect Spurs do be firing in with a 50m bid for Aguero does he?
January 15, 201114 yr Although I think Pienaar could prove to be a decent squad player I would be completely disillusioned with the directors of Chelsea if they signed him up. As most of you will know he is ofcourse eligible to play in the African Cup. So if we signed him he would be one of about five players flying south mid winter next year. Wiki"fact": "As of 2013, the tournament will switch to being held in odd-numbered years so that it does not clash with the FIFA World Cup." With the reduction in squad size shouldn't the board avoid buying African players?
January 15, 201114 yr if Pienaar was asking for £70,000-a-week as has been reported then we were right to walk away...at 28 he will have little sell on value when he leaves and he will be warming the bench most weeks...still we would have done it in the past when we were loaded, just shows how skint we are

He would have been a good signing at 3mil, 40k a week. Him asking for 75k is stupid. He obviously cares more about money than trying to win things.

Jesus christ, this game has gone mad when average players like him demand wages like that to be a squad player. Hope we told him to get stuffed.
January 15, 201114 yr You guys know how negotiation works right? Agent comes in with a first offer thats completely ridiculous and then they go from there.
January 15, 201114 yr You guys know how negotiation works right? Agent comes in with a first offer thats completely ridiculous and then they go from there. Theres ridiculous then theres totally outrageous and laughable.
January 15, 201114 yr Yeah, if some agent came in and demanded that for a squad player, when a first team regular like Ivan is getting less than that, I'd laugh at him and tell himand his player to never darken my doorway again. There's negotiation, but there's also pricing yourself out of any potential dealat the first step.
January 17, 201114 yr Not sure about Aguero. Obviously skilled but seems a tad overweight. I don't know if he fits in the PL. Well I wouldn't call tevez slim, and he is one of the best strikers the premier league has to offer. He and aguero aren't that different if you ask me.
