Gareth Bale Rumours

Featured Replies

I have a strong feeling if Spuds fail to qualify for the Champions League we will move for Bale.

When push came to shove they couldn't hold on to Berbatov, with the outlay on players

in recent seasons money inward could be again a priority.

We need width, Bale can play left or right, is in the Luiz feel of things both age and ability wise and

has proved himself more than capable in the Premiership and Champions League.

He is British and would command a sell on fee if he progressed to World status.

Roman and Carlo might just think it could be 50 million well spent.

Well Spurs would certainly want to get as much as possible, so you would probably be looking near £50m once more.

I couldn't actually see Gareth moving unless he forced a move out.

From what I have seen of him, I don't think he would consider doing that.

Would rather we used the £50m to slap on Wengers desk with a note saying "£50m for Wilshere, take it or leave it, this offer is only on the table for 48 hours". Now that would rustle a few narf london feathers.

More chance of harry rednap playin on the left for us then the spuds selling us bale, also I think we need to assure a place of champions league football before we start talkin about spurs players!!!

After the Torres affair, I wouldnt be suprised by anything that happens in the transfer world at the moment. Chelsea, Citeh, Real Madrid, Barca all have big bucks to spend on players, rottenham are not in the same league, they are not in a position to turn down silly money for Bale, just like Liverpool and Newcastle couldnt in January. Anything over £40m would gret Bale imo, but as I said I would rather spend elsewhere before Bale.

I very highly rate Bale, but I don't see why we should spend upwards of £40million on him, when we could get someone like Hazard, who it seems we have actually shown an interest in, for half that.

I think Bale would be a good acquisition and 40m in the current market doesnt feel too much for him. He would also demand less salary than Aguero coming from an English side and I think with Torres in the side we need more of a Bale type winger than Aguero type forward.

Yes Hazard is half the price of Bale but the latter is proven in the PL and to some extent CL whereas the former is a hazard as in he might never settle in the English game.

Call me crazy but I dont think Gareth Bale is as good as people are making out hes turned up in a few big games but seems to disapear against average sides and for me he's only played well in a handfull of games. Overhyped there are better players who would cost less.

If only our upper management played Fifa 08. I mean, judging on how good he was in that game, we are crazy not to have splashed the cash to Southampton that summer!

So was Kalou!

people, people, people! Bale???? Seriously, guys! Bale???? So over-rated he makes Stevie Me look like the best mid-fielder in the world. A one-trick monkey who has had a few good games, in what has otherwise been a decidely average season or two. TBH, I'd rather have SWP back than risk £40 on Bale, let alone 40 million FFS!

Steady on.

Not worth the money. Sanchez or Hazard would be cheaper options.

wholeheartedly agree with everything said here

people get a grip----all he can do occasionally is hit the ball by a defender and beat him for speed, has a reasonable shot, but only now and again---

how many left sided players could do that---FFS we could have gotten John Arne Risse for buttons if thats what we needed and remember he did want to play for us--look at the header at Anfailed

Hmmm...This is an interesting one. I agree to some extent with the people saying that he's overrated. He's had a few good games, but many others where he hasn't impressed so much. Having said that, any man that can (pretty much) single handedly orchestrate a comeback in the way he did against Inter is definitely one to watch - especially as he's only 21 and has plenty of years ahead of him to get even better.

50mil is a lot of money, but we've shown this year that we're not above spending that much on one player. I think we could probably get more for our money by buying a couple of good, cheaper players. Definitely think we need to be looking for a long term replacement for Malouda, as he's getting on a bit, and this could be a good opportunity to get one.

Haha, Kalou is the first person I point to whenever people bring up video games (even though I know that 95% of them can't be serious and are doing it in jest) as a way of talent spotting. He was unstoppable in Fifa 08, got to be like a 96. I would literally punt the ball up field from Cech, Kalou would outrun everyone, chest it down, and slot it past the keeper. Wish it was that easy in real life...

On topic, I rate Bale, but no way are we getting him for anything less than silly money. As other people have mentioned, I'd rather take a chance on Hazard. Or maybe we can see if Benefica have any wide-men, then maybe sign that guy up and start the paperwork for Benefica to become our new youth program?

hmm - I find it a bit confusing that a forum that, for the most part slate Paulo Ferreira will also, for the most part, gush just a bit over Bale, even though Paulo nullified him totally when they came together. And don't bother mentioning that Lennon got in behind Paulo (he was offside) or that they doubled up on Bale - Paulo handled him well, thanks

Much as it pains me to say it Bale is a great propsect and will only get better in better compnay.

I can see him going to ManU at some point. Spuds are the official ManU feeder club.

I thought many of you wanted an old fashioed winger? He is that. Gets his boots chalked up, runs like the wind, the occasional wonder goal and has a devilish cross.

There's little doubt he'll improve imensely at a better club than the Scum.

And that's coming from a Gooner.

Good player, but is he really that good. Had a few big games in big matches but I think he has

been greatly over-hyped. If he came at around 25/30, then OK.
