August 1, 201114 yr The Express have an interesting take on the Sneijder situation. For what it's worth, the Daily Star are reporting pretty much the same thing: INTER MILAN last night hit out at Manchester United for allegedly tapping up £35m Wesley Sneijder.
August 1, 201114 yr For what it's worth, the Daily Star are reporting pretty much the same thing: INTER MILAN last night hit out at Manchester United for allegedly tapping up £35m Wesley Sneijder. I would have expected the Daily Star to have gone with something similar to the Mirror. It's more than likely all rubbish anyway, especially the £30m fee. Edited August 2, 201114 yr by Scooby Blue
August 2, 201114 yr Damit. If they have got him (and I too think 30m is far too low) this would be a real blow. Definitely the kind of player they are missing. IMO we shouldve chased him seriously when Spurs started playing hardball over Modric. Maybe it was one of those things where Hiddink wouldve made the difference. Im sure a dutch manager wouldve pressed bigtime for the dutch playmaker
August 2, 201114 yr In an article ostensibly about Zhirkov's imminent departure, the Telegraph manage to throw in a couple of names I don't remember previously being suggested as his possible replacement, adding for good measure that we are still confident of signing Modric, and are still, so hey say, considering a bid for Moutinho: Yuri Zhirkov on way out as Chelsea consider bids for Luis Enrique and Alvaro PerreiraYuri Zhirkov is set to become the first big-name departure from Chelsea under their new manager Andre Villas-Boas. The club are discussing bids for the likes of Newcastle’s Luis Enrique and Porto’s Alvaro Perreira as his direct left-sided replacement. Villas-Boas is also still planning to sign a playmaker. Chelsea will raise their bid for Luka Modric to £30 million this week with Joao Moutinho remaining under consideration if that move fails, even though he has a release clause of 40 million euros (£35 million) from Porto and is a different type of player. Chelsea remain confident, however, that they will sign Modric despite the Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s statement that he will not consider any bids. The Spurs assistant manager, Kevin Bond, admitted yesterday: “We desperately don’t want to lose him [Modric], but everyone has a price. If somebody came along and the money turns your head and he did go – although the chairman is adamant he doesn’t want to sell him – then we’d have to get on with it.” Bond later released a statement to clarify what he had said: "The club's position on Modric is quite clear - we have no intention of selling him."
August 2, 201114 yr When coming up with this stuff, they could at least make sure they get the names right!
August 2, 201114 yr Luis Enrique!! Isn't he an old Barca midfielder? Played at the club in the 90's. They probably mean Jose Enrique. Don't want him near the club tbh. Average player imo.
August 2, 201114 yr So because were letting go of Zhirkov they suggest were going to go after a LB? When we already have 3 players that can play there Sounds like made up sh*t to me
August 2, 201114 yr Spot on Sparkz. Messers Bertrand and van Aanholt might be a little amused about such speculation. To be fair Jason Burt has been trying to get the Alvaro Perreira rumour going for a month now with no success. I wouldn't worry.
August 2, 201114 yr I read the Alvaro Perreira story as just one more in the list in a long line of players rumoured to be following AVB from Porto. Lazy journalism.
August 2, 201114 yr Dont think we need another fullback but if Moutinho is the backup plan for not getting Modric, I will be very very happy with that.
August 2, 201114 yr Would love to see that bloke M'vila at Chelsea actually, together with either Modric/Moutinho and I reckon we are sorted for the summer. Edited August 2, 201114 yr by Andreas
August 3, 201114 yr If you have a look at kalous latest tweet @skalhuno it could be a hint that he's on his way out.

August 3, 201114 yr If you have a look at kalous latest tweet @skalhuno it could be a hint that he's on his way out. Change is the law of life and those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. lol interesting :D Edited August 3, 201114 yr by amART
August 3, 201114 yr He added "That was for a friend". So I assume, that was meant for Anelka. Zhirkov or Mikel maybe ?
August 3, 201114 yr Letting Kalou go but keeping Mikel,Anelka and Malouda makes no sense to me. But... but... you are u no it makes sense! So if it doesn't make sense to you then is who ever going to make sense of anything ever again?!
August 3, 201114 yr But... but... you are u no it makes sense! So if it doesn't make sense to you then is who ever going to make sense of anything ever again?! It's the end of the world! All hope is lost! We're signing no one!

August 3, 201114 yr Mikel is very underated by Chelsea fans IMO Mikel next to a creative CM would be quality
August 3, 201114 yr Mikel has had 5/6 year to improve as a player and he hasnt improved enough. We just keep hoping that this will be the season that he will really up his game and each time we are left disappointed. He is just an adverage player and always will be. Would probably do an ok job for a team like Villa or Everton but imho we need someone better. Hopefully this kid from Barca will be the business!
