Not overly exciting, but would be great if AVB had an eye for unknown gems. You get the impression he's very in the know.

I've always been a fan of his (one of the few who played ok for Italy in the world cup too), but possible a bit lightweight for the prem.

So the player wants to leave because he wants playing time. Barca can't give him that, and agree to sell him to us, but only on condition they can buy him back in a couple of years? So if he turns out good, they can have him back, and if not, we can keep him? Why would anyone agree to that?

Isn't a "buy back" clause usually just another name for "first refusal"? If we decide to sell, Barca would have the option of buying the player before anyone else could bid on him.

I think there's a difference. "First refusal" means that the selling club would have first option to buy, i.e that we'd offer the player to them first before putting him on the market - if we decided to sell.

"Buy back" means that the selling club decides whether they want to buy the player back and if they do there's not a damned thing we can do about it.

That's exactly what we've been asking in this thread.

Another player who, although not specifically linked to us, is apparently available is Keisuke Honda. I have only seen a bit of him play in the World Cup, but he seemed like a creative player and pretty versatile. And, while we shouldn't look into him for just this reason, he would probably sell a lot of jerseys in Japan.

Yes, loaned to Athletico (hopefully its a part of the deal involving someone else coming our way - doubt it).

Agree, good player, but wasting our time bidding beyond 30m.

Would love to see more of Josh (& Yossi) this season. I like our young left backs, but not ready to take Cole's place yet.

If all else fails in midfield Parker would be useful, but the signing of the Barcelona youngster makes me think its a non starter.

Yeah agreed one or two wingers would be great, infact I would make that a priority. Perhaps take a flyer on hazard, de bruyne or even play sturidge right and a out and out winger left.

Defintely don't want us paying these ridiculous sums for Modric. I'd much rather we pick up a few younger gems at cheaper prices than do our usual and splash out f**k loads on someone who is massively overpriced. Some like that De Bruyne wouldn't set us back too much and he's a quiality young winger, just the kind of player we need.

I think Sturridge has done enough to prove he could do a job for us there in pre-season & showins some effort as well.

Agree on Hazard, take a risk on 17-20m bid for him, yes he is young, but from the little i've seen of him he is a prospect.

Pretty sure I remember someone from this board saying that he would be on their top transfers for us this summer, but I forget who. He could be a good player for the future, age and money are right, but I doubt we're actually in for him if we've had Romeu's offer accepted by Barca.

I can't say I can remember seeing this M'Vila play, but I seem to remember hearing some good things about him. A very promising player.

If that's true and the details about Romeus transfer (the buy back clause) is true, then I would rather have M'Vila.
