I disagree. Young and talented, and in today's market, guys with lesser skills go for far more.

I realize Kalou blows a maddening amount of sitters. But he was also among the team leaders in goals despite far fewer minutes on the pitch.

I'm not a massive fan of Kalou, but 10 million pounds is undervaluing him. He's so frustrating to watch as he misses so many clear-cut chances but does pick up key goals. I prefer Sturridge to him and if Kalou leaves and Anelka doesn't then thats a mistake. Kalou's a great squad player so unless we bring in better players, he's worth keeping

Kalou certainly shouldn't be allowed to leave. He scored more than ever last season and probably would have scored more if Torres wasn't in his way. He gets a bad rap and we'd be mad to sell him.

That basically sums up my feelings on Kalou as well. The trouble is, I don't think he's content being a super sub anymore, and I don't see how/where he'd get regular starting time. Maybe as a wing in a 4-3-3 if we don't sign any true wingers????

i think de rossi would be an excellent signing, he'd bring leadership and drive back into midfield, which unfortunately lampard and essien failed to do last season. only got 1 year left on his contract so now would be a good time to try get him. although his agent will probably start throwing misleading quotes about and de rossi will get a new 5 year bumper contract!

I was definitely interested in him for the prices being quoted, PL experience and a good wide player, would've been a nice addition for squad depth, but definitely wouldn't have been bought to be starting 30+ games a year.

I think the story I saw said Villa was going with around a £10m offer for him. It wouldn't be hard for Roman to smack down Villa with a better offer. N'Zogbia would certainly get more minutes with them, but obviously his chances at silverware -- and likely his wages -- would be higher with us.

Well, we know Boas thinks well of him(or used to) from this report.

On the other side, N'zogbia is a pure winger. Gives width, receives the ball when opened and from there attacks our full back 1v1(great pace). Dominates all kind of typical winger behavior and has great awareness to do inside diagonal runs every time.

N'zogbia has excellent defensive transition and recovers quickly or closes in midfield

I literally had no idea he was French until a couple of days ago, I always thought he was Nigerian. I think I used to get him confused with Obafemi Martins.

I didn't realize Newcastle had had him long enough for him to qualify as homegrown. What a bonus. In today's world where homegrown players get a hefty premium tacked on to their sales price, I think £10-15m for someone like N'Zogbia could prove to be one hell of a signing.

The reason he's going so cheap is because he's on his last year regarding his contract. I imagine he'd go for more than Downing if he was not, i am surprised Liverpool didn't go for him.

Dynamo Moscow executive director Roman Dyakov has confirmed the club's interest in Chelsea full-back Yuri Zhirkov.

The Russian outfit have been strongly linked with the 27-year-old this month, but until now have remained tight-lipped over a proposed move.

However, despite their hopes of landing the former CSKA Moscow player, Dyakov admits they may struggle to outbid their wealthy compatriots from Russia's top flight.

"Almost all clubs from the Russian Premier League are interested in the signing of Zhirkov," he said.

"By now we haven't contacted neither Chelsea nor the player. It can be suspected how much Anzhi [Makhachkala] or Rubin [Kazan] offered for the player so we know what his price may be around.
