I remember my 'old man' hated the fact that until the 1981 Replay, the FA Cup Final wasn't shown live in most of Scotland.

Certainly not broadcast where we lived near Glasgow.

The Scottish Cup Finals were not shown live until 1977. There might have been a couple back in the 1950s shown live /. Not sure.

My Uncle who lived down in Ayrshire managed to watch the FA Cup Finals due to the transmission there from I think Ulster TV.

Hadn't realised that the Scottish Cup Final wasn't shown live until 1977. That means the centenary final in 1973 when Rangers beat Celtic 3-2. Surprised that wasn't shown. Winner scored by Tom Forsyth. I suspect that over the years, Jaws has told people that he beat five players and hit a 30 yard shot rather than tapping the ball in from six inches.

The film starting on the west stand round to finally finish in the beloved shed........fantastic..love the piano music reminds me my Chelsea is dead.....oh the fun..the end of the game scrapping with other skins to get me piss soaked laces back.......running west ham when they came up the back from the west stand and were crying to get out at the front begging the old bill....those were the days........gary johnson...no wonder he didnt score many.......

Still its a new chelsea now, i will always love Chelsea more than the wife and kids, chelsea was first.

Blue is the Colour...Carshalton Blue excellent work, please keep it up.

That Chelsea v Wolves game from April 1977 finished 1-1. We had beaten them 3-1 in December 77. Both sides being promoted in 1976/77. The other side, promoted in third place did rather well in 77/78. Nottingham Forest who amazingly ,still, won the title. We beat them 1-0 at The Bridge in Nov 77.

Boyne:The Scottish FA and League were very much against live tv coverage of games until the mid 1980s.

Not sure if our 1970 FA Cup replay victory was shown live throughout Scotland?

Thanks Erskblue. Sounds typical of the SFA. Not sure about the 1970 replay. Will ask around.

Great goalkeeper who's career cut short by two cruciate ligament injuries. Great guy as well, had the pleasure of meeting him in recent years. His boys are both involved in football as agents. They gave their dad stick when I told them how good a goalkeeper their dad was!! Not too much footage around of Eddies Chelsea career as highlights always focused on goals and not saves.

Agree, a great goalkeeper. Only 28 when he had to retire. Could have probably played for at least 8 more years.
