We had a tasty firm out for the West Ham game and it struck me as strange the game was cancelled due to a frozen pitch. It wasn't that cold and other London games went ahead. Shame as we may have had a result

Trouble with Upton Park, was that it had the roofs from all 4 stands shadowing onto the pitch, preventing the sun from thawing it out.

I think it's 78/79 because you can see an advert for Ron Harris testimonial. He played a current team against the 1970 cup final team and the 1970 team won     1-0!!!! it's bottom left of the shed in front of the fenced off bit where the floodlight was.

You might be right, however I remember going to chopper's testimonial when Chelsea played Glasgow Rangers ........the bars were full that night, unless i am mistaken and it was Peter Bonettie's, but I'd swear blind it was choppers night ?!

Chopper had 2 so did Peter their second ones were between 79-80 The cats second was against manure 5-3 was a good game for a testimonial.

You're right, it wasn't that cold. I drove to the game and the roads were fine. Game was postponed to April of that year and we won 2-1. Nevin scored with a brilliant header from a Dixon cross. Usually the other way around.

Arsenal had undersoil heating back then pikeys definitely didn't

Suspect that if Sullivan, Gold and Brady had been in charge back then they would have got tax-payers to pay for under-soil heating.

It always was like being on the dark-side when I went over there.......best thing Was to pull it down.....can't stand West Ham, but we hate spuds even more.

For many of us chels spurs are the natural target for our hatred and vitriol which is fully understandable However, for me, it's West Ham . Having witnessed them "taking" our beloved shed on several occasions in the late 70s and on one of these times seriously damaging my beige Harrington! What's the definition of taking an end ? Is it getting in by 1.30 and being surrounded by o.b. Or is it clearing an end at 3pm. West Ham were very good at the former! As a young lad returning home from s.b. Could prove a traumatic experience, espescially after night games. On one occasion,at Mile End station I was waiting for an east bound central line train when I was confronted by three pikies , one in a donkey jacket and claret and blue bobble hat. Chelsea c...t he hissed and I found myself being batterd against a chocolate machine . Luckily I was saved by a couple of l.u. Workers ,no serious injury . My brave attackers had spotted my programme in my jacket pocket . The age of these tasty geezers  ? Mid 20s . Me 15.  I had my revenge a few years later........

Chelsea having it with plod at Sheff Utd 1991, lost 1.0, ive asked about this game before on here, it all went off after plod got heavy handed with some Chelsea, Chelsea had a pop back & plod took off their numbers on their jackets & waded in, at one point there was even plod on horseback on the track in front of our end, ive never seen any newspaper reports about it or footage but i think one of our fanzines mentioned it at the time, anyone else remember it?
