Steve Francis, I liked him always looked like he could have just wandered in off the terraces and stood in the goal.

That speedie pic was from a testamonial wasnt it, became a strange sort of ritual after that I remember Beasant doing it at another testamonial

Our next home game in Dec 76 saw a huge crowd of 55,003 attend. We beat Fulham 2-0. 27th December 76.

Bobby Moore had captained Fulham in the 1975 FA Cup Final v West Ham.

Didn't all three go and play in the North American Soccer League that summer?

Liverpool, who won Division 1 and the European Cup had three League games with a bigger attendance than 55,003.

Is this 55,003 a record for second tier of English football? Or did Man Utd get bigger attendance when they were in Division 2 in 1974/75 ?

Hope soon they will show 76/77 pn itv4.

Interesting that BT are showing The Big Match which was shown Sunday afternoons when I was a kid. They must have bought The rites to it, am assuming that ITV can still show their own footage. BT also do a programme of the best goals of each season back in the 70s and 80s that is both BBC and ITV

Watch the Chelsea vs Blackpool game. Ian Britton kicked off the ball and 3 or 4 fans come on the pitch to sort out the culprit!!

My second ever Chelsea game 2-2 stood in the side bit of the Shed basically straight up the stairs from the main entrance and down a bit.

I maybe in the minority here, but for me Crespo was a great forward. The press need to be ashamed for ridiculing him as a flop, which he was not. Opening day at Wigan, what a strike !!

Quality player, great movement off the ball, bit like vialli, what they must of been at there peak?

Totally agree with you. I just wonder just how good a player he could have been for us. He'd some touch and was technically brilliant.

Utd got a 60k and a couple of 50k that season, but they had only won the European cup 6 years before, so were as always a big draw

Cheers mate. Kind of thought they had big crowds that 1974/75 season in Division 2.
