I’m in there somewhere.  Not sure of the result, pretty certain we lost though.

Watford game we won 2-0. Lost 5-1 in 86 to them the one and only game for the legendary Les Fridge.

I think the 5-1 game was the last of the season. Durie made his debut for us as did John McNaught.

Blimey, that’s a surprise 79 was a bad year.  Won 3-2 away I think.

The Watford game in 79 I saw this kid from school the same age as me at FB station before the game and on Monday I saw him on the playground. I said '' Alright mate I didn't know you supported Chelsea and told him where we met up when we were going to the Bridge. He looked at me and said '' Err I support Watford'' I couldn't believe it to this day he's the only Watford fan I know. Your free to choose to support who you want he came from Stonebridge and Watford is only about half an hour on the train but to say it was uncool to support someone like Watford in 79 is an understatement.

I've also only met one Watford fan ever.

Was Harlesden way mostly Chelsea when you were growing up? I'd hazard a guess it was a mixture of Chelsea, QPR and Arsenal?

ps wasn't Ken Bates originally a QPR fan from Willesden way?

Chelsea, QPR and Spurs. Very few Gooners those days although a lot of older Irish blokes supported them.

The Shed were in good voice that day

" Ross Jenkins, and Luther Blisset too,

And he's a monkey in a zoo, in a zoo"

Sounds terrible looking back.

Do you remember John Barnes of Liverpool? The songs those days....... "who's that up a tree, Jonny B" and "trigger, trigger shoot that ni**er"...and they moan about current songs!!

Regarding risqué songs of many moons ago- almost forty years for the Watford game- if was a different era- a player got it in the neck if he had a big nose, got caught out shagging, you name it.

By modern sensibilities they sound pretty beyond the pale, but if was all just fun. I don't remember any malice or nastiness.

It sometimes annoys me when the same songs that that have been sung at football for getting on for half a century are all of a sudden deemed vile.

Some of the journalists who have been going to games for years and are now all of a sudden offended, must have had cloth in their ears until recently.

One thing's for sure that ain't QPR's away support!!!

Liverpool.  I don’t remember them ever bringing that many other than the last match of the season decider.

One of the biggest myths in football Liverpool's support home and away, atmosphere here atmosphere there, they bang on about it, but in all the times I've been to bridge against them I've always thought they were poor. Not a patch on Utd.

Third picture that was 94 presumably before the temporary stand was put up but that team in the white looks like the England 1966 World Cup team look at those shorts !!.

During redevelopment you would expect the atmosphere to have suffered but I don't remember it that way ( Shed and Northstand redevelopment)

When the Shed temporary seating was in place ( the sway I think it was nicknamed), and the Matthew Harding stand up and running, for the first time ever we had four stands close to the pitch.

Our support was still pretty old school then too. I can remember some cracking atmospheres at times.

Yeah shorts look like years ago. I reckon its fans getting a change to play on the pitch at the end of the 95/96 season

Image result for stamford bridge in the seventies

Two years after the dog track was introduced. I can make out the white traps for the four bend and six bend starts and the tote board in the foreground. This picture could have been a summer dog meeting and not a football match, as I can't see any pitch marked out.

The temporary stand was put up in 94 unless they dismantled it at the end of every season.

I remember our cup run in 96, Newcastle springs to mind and the temporary stand ( bucket seats ) where in place. They where gone at the start if the 96/97 season.
