One of those days where it was Chelsea here, Chelsea there. Really hot day as well same as the Leeds 5-0 a couple of weeks later.

We certainly took over Selhurst Park that day. Was a great day and I can recall as we were making our way into the ground we bumped into Peter Bonetti.

Great times, great kit and black football boots!

Wee Pat would have had field day on today's billiard table pitches and no proper tackling anymore. Would still keep him away from penalty taking though! classic kit as well. Just remind me Ersk what season was it?

The season? Let me think... Aye Right!

1983/84.

May have mentioned the 1983/84 season on here.

Apologies if this has been posted before .

Probably the most underwhelming highlights of any player I've ever seen. There wasn't even a goal being scored -just the ghost goal that hit the side netting.

Unfortunately not many clips of Hudson, obviously because of the era. Ghost goal against Ipswich I remember well, it was the first game that my younger brother came to. There are no clips of the Hudson goal that trickled in at White Hart Lane in 1972 League Cup semi 2nd leg.

Haven't seen that goal for years. It was on TV so it must be somewhere. It was just a fluke from a free kick out by the corner flag from what I remember.

Embarrassing day for palace. The Homesdale was closed to home fans, they had the park lane terrace (Sainsbury’s to the newer people) and the Aurther wait Stand terrace and seats from the corner to the halfway line. We had the other half, and they were dotted about in the main stand. They were averaging 4,500-5,000 at that time. The official gate was 19,000 I think, there looked more than that.  I was in the seats at the side with the terrace in front. The Homesdale looked packed and great, and with us packed in the side as well the atmosphere was great.

It was a fluke, I can't remember whether it was a corner or a free kick by the corner flag. I was a 10 year old with my dad and my uncle (Spurs fan) in the old Paxton end amongst all Spurs. Garland's goal was screamer at the same end as Hudson's goal.

I was 10 as well but wasn't there. Must have been epic, but probably not much fun being in with the Spuds.

Great victory, only for us to blow it against Stoke.

Being young and naive, I cheered for our first goal and was spat on. F*cking brave of em to spit on a 10 year old. Not sure what my uncle said to the geezer behind, but never got any trouble after that. One of the reasons I despise Spurs.

My Dad also took me to the final. We had tickets but, can't remember exact details, his wallet (with the tickets) was pick pocketed one night on his way home from Tottenham Court Rd where he worked. We got tickets off a tout at Wembley 20 quid a piece in the end opposite the tunnel.......the f*cking Stoke City end !!! Not an ounce of trouble though.

Theres about 8 seconds of footage of Chris Garlands goal v Spuds at White Hart Lane. League Cup Semi Final second leg 1972. Can't find any other footage of this game!

Did find some cine film footage of Peter Osgood goal of the season v Arsenal at The Bridge. Looks like someone filmed it on a hand held home movie camera at The Shed End. Be great if someone finds it and posts it. Cheers!

Who else would Grimsby be sponsored by than bloody Findus!

Sing when your fishing....

I worked on the construction of a petro-chemical plant in Grimsby in the early 90s- stayed in digs in Cleethorpes where Blundell Park is located.  Got to know a few "codheads" who were very impressed with our support that steamy day in 84.

I attended a couple of games whilst I was up there including Spurs in the League Cup, and have to say when the wind was coming off the North Sea it werent for the faint hearted.

£2.70 to watch Chelsea play! To put it into perspective, a brand new album cost £3.99 in May 1984.
