Dick Clement is a Chelsea fan - as is his son, who is a senior BBC sport producer (MotD, Football Focus etc).

A lot of Millwall in the 70s came from the Isle of Dogs where they was originally from a lot of the porters in Spitalfield Fruit and Veg market were Millwall and came from there and Shadwell and Wapping

I’d say a good 8 out of 10 Fulham fans live south of the River, in places like Worcester Park and Ewell.

When people move out to the burbs, they normally stay on the same side of the river- East End people to Essex, S.E London to Kent. The only exceptions to this I can think of is Fulham and Pimlico, who seemed to have crossed the river en masse and settled in Surrey.

Was talking to one of the old Battersea firm a while back- he couldn’t think of anyone who was part of that group that still lives there.

Very much the same with North- North West London people are really surprised if you mention that Watford and the surrounding areas are rough but so many nutters moved there in the late 70's and 80's. Loads of Harlesden, Kilburn, Stonebridge moved there lots of Gooners in the area.

Your right on that one Ewell CFC. Basildon, Pit(sh*t)sea, Benfleet & Southend full of Spammers.
Was returning from London a year ago, & to my surprise there was a 12 carriage train at Fenchurch St, normally only 8 max.
West Ham were at home ( Stratford ), & when the train pulled into West Ham station, it was completely heaving with them along the whole long platform.
All other big London Clubs all represented in these areas in fair numbers, but nothing like Wet Spam.
And amazingly Tottenham have had a Club shop in Southend High St for several years!. West Ham used to have one there years ago, but closed it, as the windows kept getting bricked!. Why they never put mesh over them, I've no idea.

It's one of the curious things about Chelsea isn't it. Our support can't be totally pinned down to specific areas and never could really. despite obvious strongholds like wandsworth  battersea and pimlico. We always had fans dotted about well into the home counties. Hickeys mob were from Tunbridge wells, there were big contingents from Slough, Camberley, Kingston. Myself I used to get the train up from Orpington and Bromley and there were always plenty of others using that line.

March 73 fans queuing outside a Camden cinema to watch Chelsea v Arsenal, FA Cup QF.

Apparantly it was shown at 6 London picture houses, demand due to limited capacity at the Bridge- East Stand being rebuilt.

Chelsea at Tottenham, 1978, well before the game, our end was rammed by kick off.

Wimbledon away in 1988. I think I was at this game. It's a blur after all these years. We won 1-0.
