think it might be a Cortina estate, my dad had an escort estate and they were more rounded, then again the Escorts did change shape to a slightly squarer look.

To be honest I know nowt about Cars so I stand to be corrected. I presume that game is when we beat Leeds 1-0 to secure promotion in 89? Jonny B getting our goal.

It is. Pretty muted compared to 84 dull season really we should never have been relegated with the players we had.

Agreed I too thought that the happy days were coming back to us, when Geoff Hurst was appointed.

There were a right few lows until  that team and that season arrived

We were so close to going back up in 1979/80. Losing out on third spot on goal difference.

We lost it around the last two months of the season. Lost 5-1 away to Birmingham plus another two games and drew another  three out of the last eleven games that saw us slide out of the top three.

if the spammers had beaten Sunderland after they won the F A cup we would’ve been promoted.

Just checked on bounder friardale's great site.

From from 2nd April - 3rd May 1980 . We played 7 league games, Won 2, Lost 2 and drew 3.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the West Ham players didn't exactly give 100% effort in this match v Sunderland.

Probably they still had too much alcohol in their system, from celebrating winning the FA Cup v Arsenal a few days before.

I’m actually lost for words looking at Chris Garland.

Bottom left is the benches I guess, which used to be pretty family orientated until apprentice Herbert’s started getting in there circa 83.

Did anyone ever go in the family section- corner of the North Stand towards Gate 13 East Stand?
