Got me thinking mindyou ,has any mob of other teams lads ever steamed into above pub on whatever matchday ? I dont ever recall if any of the lads ever used this place mob handed since it was far too close to ground and Police . Might have been different in the through the 1970s ,i shall ask ?

I see a 3 way crossbreed between Bobby Charlton,Noel Brotherstone ( look him up ) and John Dempsey . Its all down to his barnet sorry to say ,but its got to be said . Today if i was a manager of a poor performing premeirship team ,i would have it in the players Contracts that they can only get their haircut on my say so . Keep on playing sh*te as a team and no haircuts all round . Might even add a haircut bonus into their Contracts, such as the more haircuts in a season the bigger the bonus etc etc .
March 16, 20215 yr Most startling thing for me is the postage price. I used to buy a lot of pin badges (still do) on the stalls outside and the shop next to FB station I bought a few things but never from the official club shop.
March 16, 20215 yr Got to love a pin badge ,still collecting them all these years later....what is it with blokes and collecting stuff!.!?

All blokes are geeky about something they just don't like to admit it. It goes back to childhood we all collected football cards or annuals or records and as we get older we sort of yearn for that nostalgia there you go lads a bit of cod psychology for you 😁

This pub was used in the 70s by some by some of us blues to meet up and get coaches to evening matches.....once actually met ossie hutch and i think cookie not sure about the third player at opening time before a game at southampton.....
March 17, 20215 yr Notts County v Chelsea 1979/80 season . This would have been my 3rd Chelsea game that i went to . I cant recall the score or the goals ,but found this after matching the dates . All i can recall from that day/ game was the Chelsea kit ,i dont think we have had a better away kit todate . I was freezing cold and stood rite behind the goal in Chelsea end freezing my nads off .i had plaggy bags on me hands as gloves and it did not help . I can never get the Notts County manager out of my head ,even to this day i recall his name Jimmy Squirel .The sole reason why i cant Shake that name is a fact Squirel by name Squirel by nature as he looked just like his name

I stand corrected on the Squirel /Sirrel mix up ,but after clocking Mr.Squirels boat race you can understand why the name Squirel has been lodge into my memory bank for 40 years . i seem to recall Jimmy Squirel been on either football focus ,granstand ,on the ball, World of sport or whatever football programme back then pre or post match of Chelsea game . Notts County should have had SIX that day with amount of certian goals they buggered up .

March 18, 20215 yr Barnsley V Chelsea back in the day . Mr.Hickmot and his small mob Me and a chelsea mate went into Yorkist pub in doncaster before getting the X19 bus to above game since it was direct service and the train to Barnsley was like going to Glasgow to Get to Leeds if you understand. Stood at the bar was. Mr.Hickmot and about 10 other Chelsea lads . They did not know us for sure but we knew who they was . We started talking and this small mob of Chelsea had got off train at donny to then Get the X19 bus to Barnsley ,great minds think alike . We was welcomed to tag along with Mr.Hickmot and his small mob . The weather all over Yorkshire this saturday was very very foggy and the Leeds home game had got called off ,but our game at Barnsley was still on . After getting off the X19 bus in Barnsley bus station we made our way to a pub across the road .It was quite foggy in the centre of Barnsley and you could not see all the way down the Road ,it was like a mild pea soup . Get to the pub and doormen are vetting us whilst in a line into the pub ,me and my mate was at the back as pecking order was rule of thumb i guess . i big roar went up from down the road and throu the pea like soup a angry mob of 50/60/70+ came streaming out of the fog into our now clear as day eye line . The doormen was still vetting the line of 12 chelsea into the pub and from my memory about 6/7 had got in when doormen went into pub and shutting locking pub doors in our faces as this massive mob was closing in on us with ‘chelsea bastards ‘ ringing into our ears as panic was setting in with a capital P . It was Something like out of a peter cushion movie with terror and horror comming out of the fog with Yorkshire accents .The every man for himself mindset soon kicked in with us chelsea left outside or be kicked . I know for sure that one chelsea lad was tripped up and took a reight kicking and how i never got tripped up as they was at my heals i will never know. Think the fog worked in my and my donny mates favour as we seem to vanish from the Yorkshire mob or the mob vanished from us . I say Yorkshire mob as still today i think it was Leeds lads since their gane was called off and it was the done thing back then .It might have been a Barnsley/Leeds mob but i doubt it very much ,or it could have been just Barnsley . Made our way into the ground with no stress whoever they was they seemed to be on the correct Road at the correct time as we left the bus station to the pub . 10 Dec 1983 Barnsley v Chelsea D 0-0 League Division Two
