Sorry mate but the three pictures haven't materialized with me!

A couple of pictures of the Rising Sun/Butchers Hook pub. I reckon the top picture was taken in the thirties. Pub played a role in the foundation of the club. It's where the club founders met there in 1905.

Very interesting, comparing the two photos. I noticed that some of the  chimney stacks have disappeared, probably to make room for renovations inside and that tree on the right has shot up.

From the programme the original quote was Friday Training before a home game 80/81 season. There are 12 players plus Geoff Hurst and Bobby Gould, so back then they knew the lineup early!

Cheers mate.

Two days after beating Newcastle 4-0 such a terrible night. I've still got the programme we were so skint then we couldn't afford to change the cover so it says Chelsea v Wigan or Northwich Victoria.

78/79 79/80 quite a few games called off and as you say the club was skint. Club just printed a piece and put it inside the old programme.

Wasn't only Chelsea who did this back then.

I clearly remember a few Scottish clubs doing the very same thing.

'Partners into the next season.'

A good picture of the ground during the refurbishment. I reckon it's 96/97, the last season of the old West Stand and the first of the Matthew Harding.
