Posted July 4, 201113 yr TRANSFER NEWS: Chelsea Boss Keen To Replace David LuizAndre Villa-Boas would have no problems selling Brazilian defender David Luiz, according to reports. The new Chelsea boss would loss no sleep selling the 24-year old who only arrived at Stamford Bridge in January from Benfica. Despite the club paying around £23million for the defender just six months ago, Villa-Boas wants a British defender who can command both boxes. The News of the World reports that Villa-Boas isn’t convinced by Luiz and could leave this summer to pave way for Birmingham’s Scott Dann, Bolton’s Gary Cahill or Everton’s Jack Rodwell. The only Chelsea centre half who isn’t at risk of being sold is club captain John Terry. Barcelona have been linked with the former Benfica defender who has been identified as a long term replacement for Barca legend Carlos Puyol. Puyol now 33 is thought to be in his last few years as a Catalan and reports suggest he could retire as soon as next summer. July 4, 201113 yr I think so, gotta be agree, nobody isn't stupid to sell player like Luiz and replace him with Cahill.
July 4, 201113 yr I think Luiz is very over-rated by Chelsea fans (especially my girlfriend, who got me the new Chelsea shirt with Luiz on the back!) - he clearly has a lot of talent, but he's also an absolute liability. I like the guy a lot, I think he has massive potential, but he really needs to sort his game out if he's going to be someone we can depend on for the next 10 or so seasons. Have to say, I personally would place him behind Terry, Alex and Ivanovic - which is sad because he has the potential to be better than any of them.
July 4, 201113 yr Please let this be BS journalism... I must admit to being worried by the fact that AVB looks keen to bring in another centre back though. It would hardly endear AVB to the fans by selling someone who appears to be a new fans favourite.
July 4, 201113 yr The rumours are probably linked to Luiz having a very poor game for Benfica last year against Porto.
July 4, 201113 yr Most of us warmed to Luiz as soon as he pulled on a blue shirt. Those early performances - goal against Utd, goal against City, overhead kicks in the oppostion penalty area, kicking Rooney and Fernandez all over the park and getting away with it. Oh, and THE HAIR! But after the initial period he did seem to go off the boil and had a couple of very average games. If AVB is looking for a solid and reliable defender you can see why he may have reservations about Luiz. He needs to cut down on the larking about on the training ground and concentrate on improving his game. Desperately want him to become another legend though.
July 4, 201113 yr He's basically just an early Carvalho, and sticking it out with him lead to him becoming a great CB for us.
July 4, 201113 yr Don't take any of this so seriously. There are no quotes from anyone, let alone AVB. Just like the crap they printed about Cole to Madrid, which he just came out and said "I've never even thought about it" so they're moving onto Luiz.
July 4, 201113 yr Can't be true... If you want to play with flair, you don't ship Luiz out for Cahill... So much potential here with this kid!
July 4, 201113 yr I think i,m gonna post this reply in any relevant post. AVB has stated that every one is on a clean slate,so al this supposition is made up BoLLux,why do journos even contemplate writing this sh*te,lets wait till at least Wednesday ok
July 4, 201113 yr The rumours are probably linked to Luiz having a very poor game for Benfica last year against Porto. remember it's the middle of the silly season. Spot on, Luiz was totally out powered by Hulk last year. And, imagine if we play beautiful football under Andre Villas, we can actually utilize Luiz into a defensive midfielder. a box to box one. It's a joke if we sell Luiz.
July 4, 201113 yr Hard to take this seriously, coming from a journalist who spelled the manager's name wrong both times he wrote it.
July 7, 201113 yr Personally, I'd really like some Titus Bramble at Chelsea. Haha this made me crack up :) Anyway i hope this isnt true because Luiz has the potential to be great, although he needs to learn to not rush into a tackle sometimes. But who hasnt made a mistake?
July 7, 201113 yr Don't see him being sold just yet, I don't think he's even had a chance to show all that he's capable of yet. Wouldn't mind seeing him play more as a right-back though, maybe his defensive liability won't be so pronounced out there.
July 9, 201113 yr I think if anything AVB wants to move Luiz up as a DM which is why he is looking for another CB. That makes way more sense then moving out a player with as much potential as Luiz.
July 9, 201113 yr http://football-talk.co.uk/29705/transfer-news-chelsea-boss-keen-to-replace-david-luiz/ Mercy. If it was in the NOTW it is almost certainly either made up or the result of yet another phone-h*ck !!!!
