Hi Ladies and Gents, I come in peace. I hope you don't mind me being here, my reason for annoying you and getting your back up is to request your assistance by participating in my questionnaire. I am from the unofficial Liverpool fans website Red and White Kop and basically we have a thread titled 'Spyin Kop'. The thread aims questions at opposing fans of the teams we are due to play.

I have seen a few similar threads to this on your site, the most recent from the Bitters across the Park. However, I would just like to caveat my questions by starting off with being honest, I'm not here to blow smoke up anyone's backside, I want my team to come to your place and win, exactly the same as you all would.

A little about me, I am a Scouser and have followed Liverpool all my life, up until three years ago I was a Kop season ticket holder of many years. I do have a kind of respect for Chelsea as whilst serving in Woolwich in 95 I used to be a steward at Stamford Bridge, mainly for the mid week matches and when I couldn't get up North. I had the pleasure of working the cup match against Milwall when they knocked you out of the cup, that was an emotional evening!

I hope some of you will take the time to answer my questions that I will post in the next day or two. It would be great if you could answer them honestly and hopefully with a bit of humour. Thanks for taking the time reading this.

I would imagine he means due to the pitch invasion that happened!

Like Castiel said, we don't mind fans from opposing teams and long as the discussion is about football and doesn't turn into a flame war.

Heck, I'd venture to say that some of us prefer some opposing teams' fans on the forum. It's a different perspective that we may not get to see otherwise.

Keep it clean, and you'll find the folks here will do the same. Welcome.

I'm always having a browse on RAWK, not to take the piss when you've lost, I just find it one of the best

of opposition forums, was on their a lot when the new American owners took over, and it's a good read whenever you

play the mancs.

Anyway, welcome mate.

Haha, spot on mate. I was postitioned with a student named Pete in the little pen (about 15 empty seats) behind the players entrance. The pen seperated your lot from them. I don't profess to be any kind of psychic but due to a Rorke's Drift kind of feeling, I do recall commenting to Pete before the match "We may require some asistance and support tonight!"

Just a question Redman, in your opinion,is Dalglish the man to take your team forward for the next few years,or is he a bit out of touch for the modern world of todays Premiership?.

I love the man to death, he's Red through and through. I also remember him signing for us for four hundred and forty grand, a record in them days. I really do hope he has the ability to take us further forward, he's a vast improvement on what we had last year with the two Texan muppets and the permed headed face rubber. If you'd have said to me last year that we could swap for what we have today, I would have snapped your hand off. He's a great man manager, he takes no messing from the press and he's got a great team with him, especially Clarkey (a shrewd and wise move). So in answer to your actual question, I don't know, King Kenny is far from out of touch with the modern game though, but regardless of what happens, he's got my support through thick and thin. In this modern game, who knows what's around the corner!

Well folks, here are my questions, I hope you enjoy them, there's no malice meant in any of them, enjoy:

Well then, the season’s almost a quarter through and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag for both of us, how do you reckon it’s shaping up for your lot and are you happy with your current form?

Being realistic, what do you expect to get from this season? The Carling Cup’s not looking too good for you, so that aside, would victory in Europe sufficiently compensate and become your next main priority ;)?

I see you’re looking at the possibilities of locating to a new ground. I must admit that price aside, I quite like your current location, there’s a bit of tradition there, plus there are loads of ale houses around Earls Court and Fulham Broadway where you can have a bit of a laugh. Any idea whereabouts the suits are looking at and would you be happy to move away from the SW?

On the transfer front, where are the roubles going next? Surely now you’ve got Anelka, Benny, that Spanish lad and Meireles you don’t want anyone else off us, or do you?

Getting on to the subject of the precious Spanish lad, has he been accepted yet or is the jury still out on him?

Who is your best player so far this season?

Which Chelsea player would you like to see being pointed towards the back door or at least provided with a full length mirror so he can go and have a chat with himself?

We’ve both experienced a bit of a revolving door on the managerial front over the past few seasons. Are you now as happy with AVB as we are with the King?

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins. Although perceived by some as a risky kind of philosophy, surely it makes for an exciting ride for the fans. What are your concerns regarding AVB?

What formation do you see AVB setting out against us?

Are there any Liverpool players you feel will require close monitoring/attention next Sunday?

What are your predictions for the end of the season for both of our clubs?

Care to predict the score?

I’ve never quite understood your ‘One man went to mow’ song, so apart from that, what special songs can we expect next week?

As a bit of an arl arse, I was fortunate to experience the seventies and often travelled about a bit, whatever happened to the infamous one armed Babs from the Shed?

By the way, can I have my Jose the Special One banner back, it got confiscated at your place in the first leg in 2005?

Well then, the season’s almost a quarter through and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag for both of us, how do you reckon it’s shaping up for your lot and are you happy with your current form?

I like the look of what AVB is trying to achieve but in order to do that we may have to let some of our old warhorses (Anelka, Malouda etc) go. Form is not my concern though what does bother me is the growing gap between City's squad and the others.

Being realistic, what do you expect to get from this season? The Carling Cup’s not looking too good for you, so that aside, would victory in Europe sufficiently compensate and become your next main priority ;)?

We'll continue to play a young side and if we can knock you lot out of the cup that should do our boys confidence some good. Though we expect tougher tests on the way to final. ::ChELSeAFaN::

I see you’re looking at the possibilities of locating to a new ground. Any idea whereabouts the suits are looking at and would you be happy to move away from the SW?

Only Ms Ron Gourlay and Bruce Buck can answer that convincingly. As far as our happiness about the move is concerned, most of us have accepted that its inevitable if we wish to continue as one of Europe's elite.

On the transfer front, where are the roubles going next? Surely now you’ve got Anelka, Benny, that Spanish lad and Meireles you don’t want anyone else off us, or do you?

Steve Clarke please !!

Getting on to the subject of the precious Spanish lad, has he been accepted yet or is the jury still out on him?

4 goals and 3 assists sounds far more impressive to me than 3 goals and 0 assists to me.

Who is your best player so far this season?

Its a call between Mata/ Ramires/ Sturridge. We'll get a clearer picture at the business end of the season but for now those three remain a vital part of Chelsea's performance

We’ve both experienced a bit of a revolving door on the managerial front over the past few seasons. Are you now as happy with AVB as we are with the King?

He is a young manager with arguably the toughest job in the continent. Most fans have understood that and his philosophy has appealed to most fans. The January window will be crucial as I see us continuing to rebuild.

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins. Although perceived by some as a risky kind of philosophy, surely it makes for an exciting ride for the fans. What are your concerns regarding AVB?

The philosophy is a drastic change from what we have played in the last few years. There are bound to be some failures on the way, as long as the rebuilding/ transition process continues I dont have any concerns.

What formation do you see AVB setting out against us?

4-3-3

Are there any Liverpool players you feel will require close monitoring/attention next Sunday?

The ref/ linesman considering the number of time Suarez gets blown away !!

What are your predictions for the end of the season for both of our clubs?

We would most likely finish in the top 3 with a high chance of landing one of the domestic cups. Liverpool have to slug it out against the two north london clubs and thats a tough one to call.

Care to predict the score?

2-0

I’ve never quite understood your ‘One man went to mow’ song, so apart from that, what special songs can we expect next week?

:redcard:

Well folks, here are my questions, I hope you enjoy them, there's no malice meant in any of them, enjoy:

Well then, the season’s almost a quarter through and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag for both of us, how do you reckon it’s shaping up for your lot and are you happy with your current form?

Hard to be happy with defeats against two London rivals but I am happy with what AVB is trying to do. Gradually replace the old guard AND get us playing better and more attacking football.

Being realistic, what do you expect to get from this season? The Carling Cup’s not looking too good for you, so that aside, would victory in Europe sufficiently compensate and become your next main priority ;)?

Before the QPR and Arsenal defeats I honestly thought we had a good chance of winning the PL. Perhaps we still have, but the reality check means I'll be happy with top four + one cup would be a real bonus.

No. We have to stay in SW London. Think most of us accept a move from The Bridge is probable but Earls Court or Battersea are acceptable.

On the transfer front, where are the roubles going next? Surely now you’ve got Anelka, Benny, that Spanish lad and Meireles you don’t want anyone else off us, or do you?

Suarez would look good in blue I reckon and you're more than welcome to Anelka and Benny back!

Getting on to the subject of the precious Spanish lad, has he been accepted yet or is the jury still out on him?

That changes from week to week. Has looked great in a couple of games - distincly average in others. We all want him to do well but he still has a lot to do. Hopefully he'll come good on the 20/11.

Who is your best player so far this season?

That's a hard one as no-one has been that consistent. I guess Mata. It would be Josh McEachran if he had played some games!

Which Chelsea player would you like to see being pointed towards the back door or at least provided with a full length mirror so he can go and have a chat with himself?

Kalou, Malouda, Mikel, Drogba & Anelka (is 5 enough?!)

We’ve both experienced a bit of a revolving door on the managerial front over the past few seasons. Are you now as happy with AVB as we are with the King?

Yes. Hopefully he'll be around for a long time too.

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins. Although perceived by some as a risky kind of philosophy, surely it makes for an exciting ride for the fans. What are your concerns regarding AVB?

Too gung ho at times (a la Kevin Keegan). No real problem with that but letting in 5 goals at SB against a very average Arsenal side takes a bit of getting over so he has to learn from things like that.

What formation do you see AVB setting out against us?

A winning one!!

Are there any Liverpool players you feel will require close monitoring/attention next Sunday?

Suarez and maybe Bellamy.

What are your predictions for the end of the season for both of our clubs?

Think we will finish 3rd and you lot will probably be 6th.

Care to predict the score?

My brain says a draw, maybe 1-1 but my heart says a 3-1 win with a hat-trick for our no. 9!

I’ve never quite understood your ‘One man went to mow’ song, so apart from that, what special songs can we expect next week?

You mean we're meant to sing?!!! Guess there will be plenty of anti-Liverpool songs. I can remeber singing the Liverpool slums one back in the late '70's and it still goes down well these days. I do apologise in advance for the "other one". Have never agreed with it.

As a bit of an arl arse, I was fortunate to experience the seventies and often travelled about a bit, whatever happened to the infamous one armed Babs from the Shed?

Pass. Probably long gone just like the Paper Man.

Can't complain too much, new manager, new tactics etc it's bound to take time to get some sort of rythm. Only problem is the PL doesn't exactly allow you any time as there are so many good teams fighting for the title. I couldn't care less what the media say i.e. Crisis! But as long as Roman & co realise if this is the route they want to take - it's going to take time. Would rather win the Quad though!!

Being realistic, what do you expect to get from this season? The Carling Cup’s not looking too good for you, so that aside, would victory in Europe sufficiently compensate and become your next main priority ;)?

Hard to tell at the moment, it will depends on how we handle the "top" teams. I mean Arsenal aren't that great and they stuck 5 past us! Main priority as always in the PL, after that its the CL... but unless we get the luck we're due [without sounding "woe is us"] it's not happening. So FA Cup it is!

If we had to move it would be Earls Court or Battersea, but really don't know what the future will hold.

On the transfer front, where are the roubles going next? Surely now you’ve got Anelka, Benny, that Spanish lad and Meireles you don’t want anyone else off us, or do you?

Well... one thing for sure is you can keep Adam. Seriously, what is the big deal about him? Anyway, you've got a top class [in terms of ability] Uruguayan who would make a good stand in for Cech after his World Cup heroics, not bad with his feet either.

Getting on to the subject of the precious Spanish lad, has he been accepted yet or is the jury still out on him?

Depends who you talk to! I think he's been accepted but with a price tag like that - if he doesn't score a hat-trick then it's his fault or he's past it.

Who is your best player so far this season?

Lampard, as always.

Which Chelsea player would you like to see being pointed towards the back door or at least provided with a full length mirror so he can go and have a chat with himself?

Up until I knew about his injury I would have said Drogba this season, his attitude and performances haven't be good - but then he's got screws in his arms?! That's got to be uncomfortable! Plus the knock on his head he suffered against Norwich... so I'll say Bosingwa. If he could just teach his reflection to defend, cross, mark and position well then he could become a good RB.

We’ve both experienced a bit of a revolving door on the managerial front over the past few seasons. Are you now as happy with AVB as we are with the King?

Personally - yes. But he needs to learn from his mistakes which with Bosingwa still in the starting XI, he hasn't. Okay so it was "only" Blackburn but look what happens when he's out the side - clean sheet. Same could be said for Luiz but at least he's 100% effort, heart and passion. Aaaanyway - AVB, I'll always love Carlo so it's a difficult one... he's still young and fairly inexperienced so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins. Although perceived by some as a risky kind of philosophy, surely it makes for an exciting ride for the fans. What are your concerns regarding AVB?

Pretty much as above.

What formation do you see AVB setting out against us?

2-4-4... who cares about conceding when you can score 8? Okay we may let in 9 but we've scored 8! Seriously though as usual - 4-3-3

Are there any Liverpool players you feel will require close monitoring/attention next Sunday?

That Uruguayan, plus Kuyt is a handful but not seen him much this season?

What are your predictions for the end of the season for both of our clubs?

Top 4 for us hopefully, I'd say top 6 for you - purely because I think you're lacking a lot in the middle.

Care to predict the score?

We won't keep a clean sheet so going for a 3-1 win... Oh okay, 3-2.

I’ve never quite understood your ‘One man went to mow’ song, so apart from that, what special songs can we expect next week?

Lots of anti-Liverpool stuff, enjoy!

As a bit of an arl arse, I was fortunate to experience the seventies and often travelled about a bit, whatever happened to the infamous one armed Babs from the Shed?

Not old enough I'm afraid!

By the way, can I have my Jose the Special One banner back, it got confiscated at your place in the first leg in 2005?

Ask Peter Kenyon.

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins.

As philosophy's go that one's pretty watertight.

Well then, the season’s almost a quarter through and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag for both of us, how do you reckon it’s shaping up for your lot and are you happy with your current form?

I'm happy we managed to grind out a win against Blackburn when we weren't playing well, we were afraid we'd lost that ability.

Being realistic, what do you expect to get from this season? The Carling Cup’s not looking too good for you, so that aside, would victory in Europe sufficiently compensate and become your next main priority ;)?

So far we've fared a lot better in Europe than the Mancs. United couldn't handle Basel at home and City were spanked by Bayern. We should have beaten Valencia at theirs if not for Kalou sabotaging us. That said, as you know, its a new game at the knockouts so we'll have to see how kind the draw is. Real Madrid and Barcelona are still way ahead of the English sides and I don't fancy our chances against either of them in a 2 legged tie. I have a feeling we'll make a good run at the league, at least push the winner until the end, and maybe pick up a domestic cup. With the emergence of City I'm not as confident about winning it as usual, we can finish higher than United atm but I'm not sure about City.

I see you’re looking at the possibilities of locating to a new ground. I must admit that price aside, I quite like your current location, there’s a bit of tradition there, plus there are loads of ale houses around Earls Court and Fulham Broadway where you can have a bit of a laugh. Judging by the general consensus and what the "Say No" CPO voters have been saying, Earls Court or Battersea are the most acceptable locations for the fans.

On the transfer front, where are the roubles going next? Surely now you’ve got Anelka, Benny, that Spanish lad and Meireles you don’t want anyone else off us, or do you?

Not sure we'll be robbing you of players again in the near future (if we came for anyone it'd be Suarez). AVB is a fan of youth and I personally hope he secures somebody like Hazard. Mata has been fantastic for us but he's not had the same effect on our attack that Robben had (though Sturridge is turning into that sort of player), which is what many of us have been missing. There isn't enough lethality in our offence at the moment. Meireless has been fantastic as well, but we're still lacking that David Silva/Xavi/Xabi Alonso/Mordic type player to run the midfield.

Getting on to the subject of the precious Spanish lad, has he been accepted yet or is the jury still out on him?

He's like Marmite here at the moment. He was hitting a rich vein of form before his red card, and was looking fantastic (despite his miss at OT, as a Liverpool fan you can probably appreciate the skill involved in rounding De Gea with such ease before he forgot he still had to actually score it). Since he's been back from the suspension the team hit the rough patch after QPR and nobody has played particularly well, including him.

Who is your best player so far this season?

Most improved is Ramires by a mile. Mata has probably been our best though.

Which Chelsea player would you like to see being pointed towards the back door or at least provided with a full length mirror so he can go and have a chat with himself?

Anelka, Malouda and Kalou don't have a future here in my opinion.

We’ve both experienced a bit of a revolving door on the managerial front over the past few seasons. Are you now as happy with AVB as we are with the King?

Yes. I will be gutted and disillusioned if AVB gets the sack unless he does something absolutely ridiculous.

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins. Although perceived by some as a risky kind of philosophy, surely it makes for an exciting ride for the fans. What are your concerns regarding AVB?

The problem I have with AVB's tactics is its all or nothing with him. He likes his teams to press hard, but even Barcelona don't press as he wants us to. They press and fall back if they can't win the ball to organise the defence which is what we should be doing. Against Blackburn we stopped pressing altogether to keep an organised defence and our tempo slowed down considerably as a result. If he can strike some sort of balance between the pressing and knowing when to fall back I feel his system will suite us well.

What formation do you see AVB setting out against us?

4-3-3 definitely.

Are there any Liverpool players you feel will require close monitoring/attention next Sunday?

Suarez obviously is your most dangerous player at the moment. I don't know if Gerrard is available but he's always a threat.

What are your predictions for the end of the season for both of our clubs?

Chelsea 3rd minimum, Liverpool 4th or 5th. At the moment I feel that Liverpool is better than Spurs but I'm not sure about Arsenal, they're too inconsistent to judge this season. Then again if you keep drawing at home you could lose out on that!

Care to predict the score?

There will be goals judging by our recent defensive issues. 3-1.

I’ve never quite understood your ‘One man went to mow’ song, so apart from that, what special songs can we expect next week?

Liverpool slums will definitely feature!

Well then, the season’s almost a quarter through and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag for both of us, how do you reckon it’s shaping up for your lot and are you happy with your current form?

In a word... nope. The lack of clean sheets is a worry. Lack of clean sheets combined with profligacy in front of goal doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Being realistic, what do you expect to get from this season? The Carling Cup’s not looking too good for you, so that aside, would victory in Europe sufficiently compensate and become your next main priority ;)?

In such a transitional season, I'll be content with Champions League qualification. A trophy (realistically the League Cup or FA Cup) would be a bonus.

Even though the current stadium is unrecognisable from the one I grew up with, staying at Stamford Bridge would still be the preferred outcome. For various reasons, this is unfortunately unlikely to prove possible. Favoured locations would therefore either be Earls Court (just down the road) or Battersea, not too far, traditional Chelsea area.

On the transfer front, where are the roubles going next? Surely now you’ve got Anelka, Benny, that Spanish lad and Meireles you don’t want anyone else off us, or do you?

Yossi is busy making himself unpopular with Chelsea fans over at the New Library. How's Joe Cole doing nowadays?

Getting on to the subject of the precious Spanish lad, has he been accepted yet or is the jury still out on him?

He didn't exactly get off to the best start, did he? I said at the time Ancelotti made a mistake starting him against your lot in his first game. As you know yourself, he's very much a confidence player. I genuinely believe he didn't expect the level of abuse he'd take from the media and Liverpool fans alike simply for leaving Liverpool. This has thankfully died off a little of late, with notable exceptions such as that old scroat Aldridge.

Who is your best player so far this season?

Probably Juan Mata.

Which Chelsea player would you like to see being pointed towards the back door or at least provided with a full length mirror so he can go and have a chat with himself?

There are a couple of players I was surprised not to see moved on in the last transfer window, or even the one before. The usual suspects.

We’ve both experienced a bit of a revolving door on the managerial front over the past few seasons. Are you now as happy with AVB as we are with the King?

To state the obvious, AVB is very young, very inexperienced, and is still learning his trade. As such the club need to give him time to make mistakes and to learn from those mistakes.

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins.

This is what usually happens. With notable exceptions.. a certain Champions League semi-final, for example.

Although perceived by some as a risky kind of philosophy, surely it makes for an exciting ride for the fans. What are your concerns regarding AVB?

That the club won't give him time to learn from his mistakes

What formation do you see AVB setting out against us?

The one that enables us be the team that scores the most goals.

Are there any Liverpool players you feel will require close monitoring/attention next Sunday?

Suarez. Knowing our luck, Andy Carroll will have the best game (past, present or future) of his career against us.

What are your predictions for the end of the season for both of our clubs?

One of my superstitions is that I never, ever predict the outcome of a Chelsea match. Or the season.

Care to predict the score?

Nope. See above.

I’ve never quite understood your ‘One man went to mow’ song, so apart from that, what special songs can we expect next week?

Dustbins and dead rats may well feature. Mick Greenaway started "One man went to mow" while on tour, in Sweden I think. It started as a bit of a laugh but caught on and took off big time. The one I don't understand is Man U's "nick nack paddy-whack bollocks".

As a bit of an arl arse, I was fortunate to experience the seventies and often travelled about a bit, whatever happened to the infamous one armed Babs from the Shed?

Unconfirmed, but I heard he was still about, and made an appearance at the game vs Cardiff last season. Whenever we played West Ham, the f**kers would sing: "Babbsey, Babbsey clap your hands"

By the way, can I have my Jose the Special One banner back, it got confiscated at your place in the first leg in 2005?

Can't help you there. Approach one of the stewards from behind. Tap him on the shoulder: "Oi Mister, can we have our banner back?" That'll work.

Well then, the season’s almost a quarter through and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag for both of us, how do you reckon it’s shaping up for your lot and are you happy with your current form?

Our form is temporary, our class is permanent!

Being realistic, what do you expect to get from this season? The Carling Cup’s not looking too good for you, so that aside, would victory in Europe sufficiently compensate and become your next main priority ;)?

We won't win the CL but can see a good run in the the FA and another appearance in the final of the CC

Earls Cout is the only option for me, but what do I matter to the bigwigs!

On the transfer front, where are the roubles going next? Surely now you’ve got Anelka, Benny, that Spanish lad and Meireles you don’t want anyone else off us, or do you?

We'll take Stevie Clarke and the goalie you've got playing up front!!

Getting on to the subject of the precious Spanish lad, has he been accepted yet or is the jury still out on him?

Great player, who makes outstanding runs, shame certain others can't see that, and I'm not just talking about the players!

Who is your best player so far this season?

A toss up between Mata, Lampard and Ramieres

Which Chelsea player would you like to see being pointed towards the back door or at least provided with a full length mirror so he can go and have a chat with himself?

Never rated Kalou so bye bye, if Drogba could have a chat with himself, we might have a chance at the PL

We’ve both experienced a bit of a revolving door on the managerial front over the past few seasons. Are you now as happy with AVB as we are with the King?

Yes!

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins. Although perceived by some as a risky kind of philosophy, surely it makes for an exciting ride for the fans. What are your concerns regarding AVB?

The only thing I will say against him, is that he is trying to play a system that we don't really have the players for, perhaps he should be looking at a 50/50 situation. The older system against the top 6 and the new system against everyone else, he also needs to realise that some games will be a war!

What formation do you see AVB setting out against us?

4-3-3 definitely. But I'd like to see him play 4-2-3-1

Are there any Liverpool players you feel will require close monitoring/attention next Sunday?

Suarez looks your best player, but the ref and linesmen always play well against us!

What are your predictions for the end of the season for both of our clubs?

Chelsea 2nd (I know) and Liverpool perhaps 5th I think you'll beat le arse but not the spuds!

Care to predict the score?

No way, too scary at the mo!

I’ve never quite understood your ‘One man went to mow’ song, so apart from that, what special songs can we expect next week?

Liverpool slums will definitely feature and probably some of the sicker ones!

As a bit of an arl arse, I was fortunate to experience the seventies and often travelled about a bit, whatever happened to the infamous one armed Babs from the Shed?

Who Knows???

By the way, can I have my Jose the Special One banner back, it got confiscated at your place in the first leg in 2005?

No chance I use it to polish all the trophies we've had since then!

Edited by shedpensioner

Well folks, here are my questions, I hope you enjoy them, there's no malice meant in any of them, enjoy:

Well then, the season’s almost a quarter through and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag for both of us, how do you reckon it’s shaping up for your lot and are you happy with your current form?

If you'd asked me a month ago I'd of said yes, but the long and short of it is no, since that wretched International break last month we've lost all our momentum, discipline and are leaking goals left right and centre. I think on current form we are 3rd at best, but I see a battle with Spuds and Man U for 2nd in the long term.

Being realistic, what do you expect to get from this season? The Carling Cup’s not looking too good for you, so that aside, would victory in Europe sufficiently compensate and become your next main priority ;)?

I'm not too bothered if we win anything or not, obviously it would be nice but for me it isn't the be all and end all but it would obviously help ease the inevitable media pressure on AVB. If we get past you lot then I don't see why it would be beyond us. Over 2 legs I'd fancy us to beat anyone bar City with our 2nd team. So if we were to beat you and get a favourable draw i.e Blackburn/Cardiff, I'd fancy us to win it, anything can happen at Wembley on the day and we have a great record there.

From what I hear, a move to somewhere else in SW is looking unlikely. They will try and move us to NW and no I would not be happy because I am SW born and bred and it just wouldn't be the same to me.

On the transfer front, where are the roubles going next? Surely now you’ve got Anelka, Benny, that Spanish lad and Meireles you don’t want anyone else off us, or do you?

No, Suarez is a fantastic player no doubt but is very temperamental, apart from maybe Reina there isn't a player you have that is desirable IMO.

Getting on to the subject of the precious Spanish lad, has he been accepted yet or is the jury still out on him?

I've accepted him, it's clear he won't be a 30 goal a season man as in the past and more of a 20 goal a season man but he still has the class IMO despite losing a yard of pace this season, I think he has become a better team player.

Who is your best player so far this season?

In terms of performances and nothing else I would Ramires. Mata has gone off the boil of late but needs time to settle, he has also been superb though. Lampard has been okay in terms of goalscoring but performances have been hit and miss.

Which Chelsea player would you like to see being pointed towards the back door or at least provided with a full length mirror so he can go and have a chat with himself?

Bosingwa

We’ve both experienced a bit of a revolving door on the managerial front over the past few seasons. Are you now as happy with AVB as we are with the King?

Yes

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins. Although perceived by some as a risky kind of philosophy, surely it makes for an exciting ride for the fans. What are your concerns regarding AVB?

That actually isn't true, whilst AVB has an attacking philosophy it is a well known fact that he also emphasises the importance of defending. His Porto side last season only conceded 16 goals in 30 games or something ridiculous like that. He likes to play a high line, the problem is we don't have the defenders to do that. Ashley Cole is in decline, JT simply doesn't have the turn of pace to sprint back against strikers as quick as RVP, Aguero, Gervinho etc and most modern day strikers are all about pace, Luiz is probably the only one that can adapt to his continental style of defending. I think a new CB is the absolute priority in January, even moreso than another creative midfielder.

What formation do you see AVB setting out against us?

4-3-3

Are there any Liverpool players you feel will require close monitoring/attention next Sunday?

Suarez

What are your predictions for the end of the season for both of our clubs?

Us to get 3rd, Liverpool to get 6th or 7th, it depends how Newcastle do but IMO both the North London lot will finish above you come May.

Care to predict the score?

Can't see us losing this one, maybe a narrow 2-1 win.

I’ve never quite understood your ‘One man went to mow’ song, so apart from that, what special songs can we expect next week?

The usual anti-Liverpool songs

As a bit of an arl arse, I was fortunate to experience the seventies and often travelled about a bit, whatever happened to the infamous one armed Babs from the Shed?

Before my time lol

By the way, can I have my Jose the Special One banner back, it got confiscated at your place in the first leg in 2005?

What was it?

Well then, the season’s almost a quarter through and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag for both of us, how do you reckon it’s shaping up for your lot and are you happy with your current form?

Well the Arsenal defeat was a bit of a setback, but as long as we carry on playing such entertaining football while still kicking it with the top four then I'm happy. Even if we haven't sorted ourselves out at the back by January, I can't see AVB coming out of the transfer window without the personnel he needs to form a solid back four which is compatible with his system.

Being realistic, what do you expect to get from this season? The Carling Cup’s not looking too good for you, so that aside, would victory in Europe sufficiently compensate and become your next main priority ;)?

Well in our current state we won't be challenging for anything. Once our form improves we'll be able to get a real idea of what we're capable of. Europe is going quite well and I think we have some northern pub team in the Carling Cup so I'm not going to rule out a late run for trophies.

Ideally we would stay at Stamford Bridge and look at expansion (there were a couple of teasers in the last week), but if moving is what it takes to carry on competing with the European elite then I am all for it. To be perfectly honest I am not at all clued-up on this so you may want to ask someone else for a more learned answer.

On the transfer front, where are the roubles going next? Surely now you’ve got Anelka, Benny, that Spanish lad and Meireles you don’t want anyone else off us, or do you?

A new right back would be nice, maybe a proper winger as well. I'd imagine another pacy centre back and a forward will be on the cards if Alex, Anelka and Drogba do leave at the end of the season.

Getting on to the subject of the precious Spanish lad, has he been accepted yet or is the jury still out on him?

Anyone who puts on the shirt will have my support and I assume the same goes for everyone here. To be perfectly honest I had all but written him off before his recent turnaround, and I hope he improves further.

Who is your best player so far this season?

Juan Mata - just what we needed. Pace, vision, technique, he's got the lot.

Which Chelsea player would you like to see being pointed towards the back door or at least provided with a full length mirror so he can go and have a chat with himself?

I'd imagine that all the over-30s (bar perhaps Terry) are going to be leaving over the next couple of seasons, so it's a matter of when not if for most of them. For the immediate future, Ferreira has probably had his time and there have been whispers about Alex leaving.

We’ve both experienced a bit of a revolving door on the managerial front over the past few seasons. Are you now as happy with AVB as we are with the King?

I've heard mixed opinions from Liverpool fans in regards to Dalglish due to your recent slump, but I'm perfectly happy with Villas-Boas and I hope he stays here for a long time and builds a dynasty.

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins. Although perceived by some as a risky kind of philosophy, surely it makes for an exciting ride for the fans. What are your concerns regarding AVB?

As far as I'm concerned the way Villas-Boas is setting us up is going to eventually put us at the forefront of football, competing with the top sides in the world. We have competed at that level before under Mourinho, Grant and Hiddink but generally playing a reactive style of football rather than an evolution of Total Football near the top of the game. AVB could be building a side that goes down in the 'istree' books as being one of the all-time great overall footballing units exemplifying a particular phase of tactical evolution. Clearly some of the old guard of the squad he inherited who built their careers on playing the reactive football of the mid-to-late 2000s are not comfortable with the new system and some of our performances have shown that. If the price to pay for a great Chelsea footballing dynasty is that we ditch the old system and move on the old guard (which will take time to happen, as well as the time it will take for AVB to construct the definitive version of his future classic XI) then I say that it is well worth it.

What formation do you see AVB setting out against us?

4-3-3

Are there any Liverpool players you feel will require close monitoring/attention next Sunday?

Suarez is going to cause problems, not only in terms of getting behind the defence but also in winning free kicks. I can see you causing us problems from set pieces. You certainly have a few players who know how to 'play the game' of winning set pieces where they want them.

What are your predictions for the end of the season for both of our clubs?

Chelsea: 2nd - 4th

Liverpool: 4th - 7th

Care to predict the score?

No

I’ve never quite understood your ‘One man went to mow’ song, so apart from that, what special songs can we expect next week?

Probably 'In your Liverpool slums' as well as some clever Meireles and Torres songs.

As a bit of an arl arse, I was fortunate to experience the seventies and often travelled about a bit, whatever happened to the infamous one armed Babs from the Shed?

Not sure. This was way before my time but I've heard stories. I read one from a league cup game against Tottenham:

I last saw Babs at a Birthday Party a few years back...I'll be sure to pass on your good wishes the next time I see him Red Man..

As a bit of an arl arse, I was fortunate to experience the seventies and often travelled about a bit, whatever happened to the infamous one armed Babs from the Shed?

Not sure. This was way before my time but I've heard stories. I read one from a league cup game against Tottenham:

Stories: I remember seeing Babs knock a Chelsea fan clean out after a home game against Arsenal back in the '70s. I've got no idea why, but Babs thought this bloke was Arsenal. Maybe he had a twin, who knows. Either way, this bloke came running towards us... us being the mob of Chelsea that were running around the streets looking for a mob of Arsenal Babs hit this bloke once, and next thing you know, there he was stretched out unconscious.

Well then, the season’s almost a quarter through and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag for both of us, how do you reckon it’s shaping up for your lot and are you happy with your current form?

Not happy with the current form, obviously, but we have to keep it in perspective. Two consecutive losses in the Prem and a draw away to Genk, mixed in with a win away at Goodison and away at Blackburn. It could be worse. A lot worse. I think the defensive woes we suffered against Arsenal had been coming, and I think it served as a neccessary reality check. We are not going to win the league in all probability and I think most of us have reconciled that. We will settle for top four but that is by no means a certainty either. Having said that, there are very positive signs, we are undergoing a transformation, and the fact that there will be a few hiccups is fine for most of us. Perhaps less so for those only accustomed to success.

Being realistic, what do you expect to get from this season? The Carling Cup’s not looking too good for you, so that aside, would victory in Europe sufficiently compensate and become your next main priority ;)?

The Champions League would be a dream but again, I can't see it happening. We are not at the same level as Real Madrid, Barcelona, City and Utd, to name but four. Our squad lacks depth as we have too many players past their sell-by date as far as their Chelsea careers are concerned: Mikel, Malouda, Kalou, Anelka, and most critically of all, Drogba. Add to that the fact Lampard is 33, Ashley and Terry are getting on, Essien is permanently injured, and you can see we are not as strong as we once were. Not by a long chalk. Drogba, Essien, Ashley, Terry and Lampard have all been great players for us. Incredible players, and while some of them still have much to offer, we cannot entirely rely upon them to be available every week and at their optimum, as was the case a few years ago.

Location-wise, you can't beat where we're at, and we all realise that. It will be a wrench to leave the Bridge but leave we must in my opinion. Trouble is, it's very difficult for us to re-locate anywhere nearby, but we must try. Earl's Court, Imperial Wharf, Battersea would all be fine, but I can't see it happening, it is way too problematic. White City and Old Oak Common are far more viable but would meet with much more opposition from fans, and rightly so. Our identity is wrapped up in our location probably more so than any other club. Though we're in the borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, we really are in Chelsea, and that holds a lot of symbolism for a lot of people. Even Battersea, which is staunch Chelsea territory, in terms of fans, is south of the river, and that would be controversial in itself, though not for me. Postcodes and the river divide are of great importance to many London folk. It's not as straightforward as just moving to another part of West London. Stamford Bridge is way too dear, it's prohibitive for many, and prices are only going to get steeper if we stay. We need to add 20,000 to the gate, which would be easy with a different pricing strategy, the club could cash in on hospitality, and everyone would be happy, except a certain section who are dead against a move at any cost. I understand their position but I disagree.

On the transfer front, where are the roubles going next? Surely now you’ve got Anelka, Benny, that Spanish lad and Meireles you don’t want anyone else off us, or do you?

Liverpool have some good players, and anything other than top four would be a let-down in my opinion, though clearly you are competing against us, Arsenal and Spurs for 3rd and 4th. I think Dalglish has bought well. I rate Enrique and Adam. My opinion has always differed with most over Downing. I have seen him at the Bridge a few times and he has always impressed me. Henderson will come good I think. Carroll is a good player though some of you will disagree. Not sure it will work out for him at your club but I have always liked him. Suarez has surprised me, I didn't think he's as good as he is, though I don't think his body language is always great. I think he has the potential to piss off a few of his teammates in future, but perhaps I'm clutching at straws.

Who should we buy? A winger, more than anything. Pace, trickery, flair. Width. That's what we need. Out-and-out width. Apart from that a central midfielder who can control the tempo of the game, ala Modric, but I'm convinced we have that department covered in future, in the guise of Josh McEachran, whom in my view is the real deal. I would gladly pay money to watch that kid play. Inexplicably he hardly gets any game-time.

Getting on to the subject of the precious Spanish lad, has he been accepted yet or is the jury still out on him?

He's accepted, he's just not very good. That's my view. I understand that he was good, but I'll judge him on what he does in a blue shirt, and up to now, not much to write home about, sadly. There have been signs this season but that is all. Two goals against Genk is not evidence that he's back, despite what some may believe. I couldn't care less how many shirts he sells in Thailand, though I guess the club feel otherwise.

Who is your best player so far this season?

Ramires. Definitely.

Which Chelsea player would you like to see being pointed towards the back door or at least provided with a full length mirror so he can go and have a chat with himself?

There are quite a few. Top of my list would be Anelka.

We’ve both experienced a bit of a revolving door on the managerial front over the past few seasons. Are you now as happy with AVB as we are with the King?

Very happy with him and I hope he's given time. He needs to learn on the job and Chelsea is a difficult place to do that, because of the expectations and the pressure. He has impressed me.

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins. Although perceived by some as a risky kind of philosophy, surely it makes for an exciting ride for the fans. What are your concerns regarding AVB?

My only concern is his inexperience, not his ability. Sure, we play a different game and there are a few teething issues and he doesn't neccessarily have the squad he wants, but that's fine. Give him time. The job at Chelsea is a complicated one, on so many levels, and you either have to be a genius (Jose) or experienced and highly able (Hiddink). A lot of knowhow is needed and a lot of nous, and at 34, he just hasn't picked up as many tools as he will need. We need to support him. As the age gap between him and the players becomes bigger it will become easier I suspect.

What formation do you see AVB setting out against us?

The usual.

Are there any Liverpool players you feel will require close monitoring/attention next Sunday?

Suarez is obviously the danger man, but I think you have many players we should be concerned about. Adam is a lovely passer.

What are your predictions for the end of the season for both of our clubs?

We'll finish fourth I reckon. I think you'll be fifth.

Care to predict the score?

No.

I’ve never quite understood your ‘One man went to mow’ song, so apart from that, what special songs can we expect next week?

One about Torres I suspect.

As a bit of an arl arse, I was fortunate to experience the seventies and often travelled about a bit, whatever happened to the infamous one armed Babs from the Shed?

Goalkeeping coach.

By the way, can I have my Jose the Special One banner back, it got confiscated at your place in the first leg in 2005?

Sure. Pop along to the Matthew Harding at about quarter to four on matchday. Be sure to be dressed in red.

Well then, the season’s almost a quarter through and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag for both of us, how do you reckon it’s shaping up for your lot and are you happy with your current form?

I think it is shaping up as well as can eb expected for a new, young manager, and a squad we've relied apon for too long. Current form, in particualr the Arsenal game has been dissapointing, but I don't think we should expect too much this season.

Being realistic, what do you expect to get from this season? The Carling Cup’s not looking too good for you, so that aside, would victory in Europe sufficiently compensate and become your next main priority ;)?

This season I would like to think making the top 4 would be our highest expectation. It ties in nicely to your other questions about relocation. If we are wanting to move, and we want to fill an extra few thousand seats, then I think most of those seats will be filled on the basis that we remain a top 4 club.

Obviously we have to stay in SW london, it just wouldn't be right to go elsewhere. We are one of few clubs that have stayed at the same ground since we started, so it will be sad to see us leave. But it's come to the point that we've out grown - in the main - Stamford Bridge. With it seemingly impossible to add more seating to our current ground, I think Earls Court would be the best alternative.

On the transfer front, where are the roubles going next? Surely now you’ve got Anelka, Benny, that Spanish lad and Meireles you don’t want anyone else off us, or do you?

I don't think we'll be knocking on your door for anyone else anytime soon. Preferaby I think we need to add some more creativity, especially if that's the way AVB wants to play. We need a quicker defender, and one less prone to rash challenges. SO probably a new Right Back. Then a little creative injection in the midfield as well as a winger. That would get us back into contention. It would also free up some space for others to leave (whi I feel should have gone more than a season ago).

Getting on to the subject of the precious Spanish lad, has he been accepted yet or is the jury still out on him?

I think he's accepted in as much as he's a Blue. Also, I think a lot of the Chelsea fans felt that he came under some very harsh media criticism when he did join us. That stems from the ridiculous amount we paid for him, and the fact that he was Liverpool's sweetheart. Therefore, we all want him to come good so we can say the price tag was justified (I don't think it ever will be) and we can tel the press to "f*ck off!*

Who is your best player so far this season?

Mata

Which Chelsea player would you like to see being pointed towards the back door or at least provided with a full length mirror so he can go and have a chat with himself?

I think the ful length mirror should be given to Drogba, and should have been a while ago. he is a great player, but for me personally his actions on the pitch have let him and the team down at some crucial points. Most notably in the CL final when he slapped Vidic.

As for shown the exit: Bosingwa (need a new RB), Kalou (need an actual winger), Malouda (need more creativity and someone who will pass moreoften than attempt things themselves), Mikel (mainly because I think young Romeu is more suited to AVB's style of play). Nico (too old and will probably want to get a final days pay in the US or Dubai).

All of those would freshen up the squad and give us some real momentum going into a new season

We’ve both experienced a bit of a revolving door on the managerial front over the past few seasons. Are you now as happy with AVB as we are with the King?

I think you're more extatic about Kenny because of his history with the club. We are excited about the prospects of AVB.

I see from your forums that there is concern regarding AVB’s attacking attitude and his philosophy that the team who scores the most goals wins. Although perceived by some as a risky kind of philosophy, surely it makes for an exciting ride for the fans. What are your concerns regarding AVB?

As stated before, I fear that the club are saying one thing and then meaning another. The fact that so early in AVB's career we had Gourlay spouting about him being here for 10-15 years is nonsense. I do hope that the club at least stands by him for his full contract and reassesses where we are in his final year.

What formation do you see AVB setting out against us?

4-3-3. If he sticks with Bosingwa at RB then I think the rotation of Kuyt and Suarez on him will be a problematic area for us.

Are there any Liverpool players you feel will require close monitoring/attention next Sunday?

Suarez and Kuyt

What are your predictions for the end of the season for both of our clubs?

I'd like to see us both in the top 4. So long as it's not Spurs.

Care to predict the score?

NO

I’ve never quite understood your ‘One man went to mow’ song, so apart from that, what special songs can we expect next week?

He's now a blue he was a Red, Torres Torres....

You look through the dustbins for something to eat....

That's the usual

As a bit of an arl arse, I was fortunate to experience the seventies and often travelled about a bit, whatever happened to the infamous one armed Babs from the Shed?

Not sure as that's before my time.

By the way, can I have my Jose the Special One banner back, it got confiscated at your place in the first leg in 2005?

I think Jose has it in Spain now, maybe ask him for it back.

Also, I want to ask you this: Some Chelsea fans (usually newer ones) seem to think there is a huge rivalry between us and you. Personally, I think it was fabricated by Sky particularly during the Jose v The Spannish Waiter times. Where we did have some good run ins and tasty CL matches. However, I still think our main rivalry is Spuds, hands down. How do Liverpool fans view Chelsea? And are there any new fans who view us as a larger rival than Man utd?

Thanks all for the responses so far, you have far exceeded my own expectations and give me a lot less abuse than I expected.

In regards to the questions above you will never be up there with our rivalry against the Mancs, with some it is pure hatred.

A lot of our new fans are a mixed bag of glory hunters, some from far and wide who, without the internet, would not be aware of our history or have the motivation to get off their arse and put the hard yards in. Saying that, we do still have a good hard core band of brothers (scallies) who are there through thick and thin.

Our rivalry against Chelsea has obviously been at the forefront over the past few years, but as you allude to, a lot of that is due to the media sh*te. I used to enjoy the arl sniping between Raffa and Jose. Chelsea are seen as a threat in all competitions and a large hurdle to overcome, as such, it obviously makes it all the sweeter when we beat you. Beating you can never be as sweet as beating the Mancs, although 2005 was close enough ;)
