Posted January 7, 201213 yr Okay, I know this one has been mentioned on a couple of other threads, and as yet I haven't seen his name linked with Chelsea, but it's probably only a matter of time. He is 26 years old, a year younger than Torres. He has been phenomenal since he arrived in England. His scoring record, for dodgy clubs, has been astonishing. In the Prem. Wet Spam were relegated and Newcastle depend largely upon his goals. Expect them to struggle while he's away at the ACN. I don't know the truth of it, but apparently the reason he went to Newcastle on a free was because of a clause in his contract which he activated, in the eventuality Wet Spam were relegated, which they were. Having signed him on a free, they had to agree to a £10m release clause, which could be activated now, seeing as it's the window. Could be conjecture but Newcastle are staying quiet on the subject and offering him a new contract with improved terms. Now, after City no-one can compete with us financially. City won't want him, because they have an abundance of attacking talent, whereas we may be in dire need of a centre-forward, seeing as Drogba's away and may not conceivably play for us again. I suspect he will but his days are numbered. £10m does not constitute a risk. In fact it's the bargain of the century, potentially. May I also remind you he is not cup-tied in Europe. This one demands serious consideration. He would probably jump at the chance, not just at playing at the top level, but he will be rewarded handsomely, in terms of wages. There will be a certain irony if we signed him, because he replaced Carroll who replaced Torres. What do you guys think .. ?

What do you guys think .. ? quality post, i want him snapped up right away he's too much of a bargain to miss out on at that price. united won't want him either with hernandez rooney and berba.. 10m for pace power and lethal finishing ? prooved he can do it against top teams.. lets unleash him in europe!
January 7, 201213 yr Author united won't want him either with hernandez rooney and berba.. They also have Welbeck, and Owen. However their only certain starter amongst that lot is Rooney. I wouldn't be surprised if they are sniffing around, particulary as he played great against them on Wednesday, and they are struggling a little bit.
January 7, 201213 yr I find the whole 10m "get out clause" hard to believe. Do they even make these kind of deals in England? Wouldn't mind Ba, he's been a revelation since last season.
January 7, 201213 yr We should get him asap, i think only spuds could make an offer but if we are in too he will choose us 100%.The only problem i see here is he is more of a Mourinho team striker not really in AVB's style. Edited January 7, 201213 yr by Rami
January 7, 201213 yr Don't really care for him. Errr, why? Have you had your eyes and ears closed so far this season?
January 7, 201213 yr I a going to go against the grain here and say that I don't want him. He has been a great player since he has been at St James' Park, but his knee is one twist away from him being another Essien. 10 Million is an incredible bargain though, but I can't help feel he's a "flavour of the month" type player, and we'd be better off not going for him
January 7, 201213 yr Ba has twice had a transfer fall through because he failed the physical. (One of those was with Stoke City in 2011, so very recent.) He fractured his tibia and fibula in 2006. I don't know if the failed physicals relate to the consequences of that injury, or if he has some other issue. The report written about the failed Stoke transfer mentioned he'd had knee surgery in 2010. His form this season is devastating. But I'd hesitate to sign him to an expensive, long-term contract.
January 7, 201213 yr IF..the buyout clause is true, great bargain heard about his past on Guardian football weekly podcast this week - a late starter that rose through the french minor leagues very similar history to our beloved Drog and the questionable fitness is worth a punt at that price IF....but it would be far too a sensible deal for the Chelsea board to pursue, I mean he would want silly wages now and a certain Senor Torres is already on money for old rope..you know Gourlay & co. wont make the same mistake twice that's why Cahill aint signed up yet
January 7, 201213 yr I've been familiar with him for a long time since he's played in Germany for the bulk of his career. I wouldn't touch him. It's not a simple matter of him being injured a lot. He's had two transfers fall apart because he failed medicals. There's clearly something structurally wrong with his body and I don't want to take that risk.
January 7, 201213 yr lets get wikipedia clarity on this boy Ba "Early career Ba was born in Sèvres, Hauts-de-Seine, and was the sixth child of seven. He grew up in Saint-Valery-en-Caux, Seine-Maritime. He joined a youth club in Montgaillard in 1992, he played for Port Autonome du Havre between 1998 and 2000, and then for Frileuse between 2000 and 2001. In 2001 his family moved to Châtillon and Ba played for Montrouge. He played there until 2004, at which point he decided to concentrate on his football. He had trials with Olympique Lyonnais and then with AJ Auxerre, both of which were unsuccessful. He then left France to take part in trials at Watford and Barnsley, and was offered a one year deal at Watford. After Watford manager Ray Lewington was sacked in 2005, Ba found that he was not in the first team plans of Aidy Boothroyd, and left the club in March 2005. Rouen Ba signed with manager Alain Michel because they were both moving to French club Rouen on a one year contract, and Ba enjoyed a highly successful season with the club. Mouscron Belgian club Mouscron beat off competition from numerous other clubs to win Ba's signature in 2006. Scoring in each of his first three games, he then picked up fractures in his tibia and fibula, and out of action between August 2006 and April 2007. Following his eight month recovery period he scored seven goals in nine games, and picked up his first international cap. 1899 Hoffenheim Demba Ba, pictured on 31 January 2009 On 29 August 2007, he moved to 1899 Hoffenheim for €3 million. Ba was an integral part of Hoffenheim's promotion to the Bundesliga and their successful first season in the Bundesliga, where they finished seventh after leading during the Christmas break. In that season he scored 14 goals, only missing one game all season. These goals included a hat-trick in a 3–3 game against Stuttgart on 24 February 2009. In all competitions Ba scored 40 goals in 103 appearances for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.[2] In July 2009, he was due to move to VfB Stuttgart, but the move fell through after he failed a medical.[3] In December of that year Ba extended his contract at Hoffenheim to 2013.[4] Move to England Ba left Hoffenheim for disputed reasons in January 2011. Claiming the club had gone back on an agreed transfer to a Premier League club, believed to be West Ham United, he refused to travel to Hoffenheim's winter training camp. In response, Hoffenheim's general manager said his contract would be cancelled, he would face legal action, and he would be fined and prevented from moving to another club for six months.[5][6] The club also later claimed he traveled to England without permission in order to force a move, which they reluctantly agreed needed to happen due to Ba's actions.[7] The club later agreed to a transfer to Stoke City for a reported fee of £7.1 million, but it fell through after Ba had agreed personal terms but failed his medical for undisclosed reasons.[8][9] Expressing disappointment, Stoke City manager Tony Pulis said "Obviously they found something which could cause problems later".[10]
January 7, 201213 yr Where does Ba sit with the rest of the strikers who are competing at the top of the table? Rooney, Hernandez, Aguero, Dzeko, Balotelli, Adebayor, Suarez, Van Persie - Is he better then these? When everyone is fit is he going to play?
January 7, 201213 yr Newcastle had to buy a stupid insurance policy of Ba because he's knackered. I don't know the details but as others mentioned he's also failed medicals at other clubs. Good player but probably not with the risk.
January 7, 201213 yr Author Newcastle had to buy a stupid insurance policy of Ba because he's knackered. I don't know the details but as others mentioned he's also failed medicals at other clubs. Good player but probably not with the risk. Mate, he's been worth the risk for Wet Spam, Newcastle and Hoffenheim. You're probably right, you have to take out a high premium policy, but judging by his career it's worth it. According to that wiki biog, he's had one serious lay-off, that kept him out for eight months. Since then, his career has been on an upward curve all the way. That injury occurred five and a half years ago. Okay, two transfers fell through, but I bet Wet Spam and Newcastle are thankful, because they were the beneficiaries. It was Stoke City and Stuttgart's loss. Remember, Cahill is the same age, he's at the end of his contract, and he'll cost £7m. Ba's scoring record compares with all the top strikers in the Prem since he arrived on these shores, playing for sh*tty sides. He may be available at £10m. If he breaks down, okay you punted and lost, and you ring up your insurance company. Did anyone see Liverpool v Newcastle the other night, which Liverpool won 3-0? Ba received a very difficult chance in the second-half, with Newcastle 1-0 down. There was no way he could make it I thought. Only a last-ditch saving clearance on the line stopped it, by Skrtel. The way he took that chance I suddenly thought this guy may be the real deal. The way he's playing, you'd certainly never guess he's got physical problems. I'll try and post that chance later, if I find it. The only downside to this transfer for me is it would be a real kick in the teeth for Torres, potentially.
January 7, 201213 yr Form is temporary, class is permanent. Good form can hide the weaknesses in a player the same as bad form can hide the strengths in one.
January 7, 201213 yr For 10 million, yeah go for it! How much do you reckon we'd get for Kalou? that could part fund it.
January 7, 201213 yr I'd rather not go for Ba. 1. We have enough strikers. Drogba, Torres (this was a strikeforce anyone would have died for a couple of years ago), Sturridge and Lukaku - Sturridge wants to start in the middle (and we want to nurture him), whilst Lukaku needs development. We don't need to buy another striker. 2. His knee. Can't remember where I read it but a pin which was removed from his knee during an operation supposedly caused some damage when being removed. Pulis has described it as a "ticking time bomb". Don't want a player whose career is hanging on the line like this when we have other options. He's failed medicals at Hoffenheim and Stoke, and I'm sure Newcastle have taken him knowing that he has issues. I'm waiting for his knee to explode soon (although I hope he doesn't, great player) Also apparently the 10m clause only applies to clubs playing in the CL, btw.

Or else everyone wouldve already been aware of it, because his agent would be kicking up stories everywhere. quality post, i want him snapped up right away he's too much of a bargain to miss out on at that price. united won't want him either with hernandez rooney and berba.. 10m for pace power and lethal finishing ? prooved he can do it against top teams.. lets unleash him in europe! How the hell does having Rooney and Hernandez rule a team out from getting Ba? Berbatov doesnt play like Ba, and he will be gone in 6 months anyway.
January 7, 201213 yr I've said this in a couple of threads now, but Pappis Demba Cisse is the guy. He is Ba with better knees, he is even from Senegal! Tearing it apart in the Bundesliga for an ordinary club. Available for around 14m apparently. Take a look at him during the ACON. He's a deadly finisher. Edited January 7, 201213 yr by Spiller86
January 7, 201213 yr I'd prefer to give African players a miss whilst the ACON takes place within the european season. Its nonsensical that clubs that pay the wages have to do without their players for upto a month.
January 7, 201213 yr Well it has alot to do with conditions. Heat and rain in equatorial Africa would be too intense to play in summer. Secondly if not Cisse another German based chap, Lucas barrios. On the outer at Dortmund couldn't stop scoring last season. If he is cheap I could see him here.
January 8, 201213 yr Well it has alot to do with conditions. Heat and rain in equatorial Africa would be too intense to play in summer. It's just that they play this damn tournament every single year. That's a bit much.
