Kevin De Bruyne

Sorry for the spelling! Apparently, I have a rogue spellcheck/word selection on my mobile! Gonna blame it on Levy, that tosser! Can't believe he supposedly turned down 40M!

Well not only does he have a mad player, but a mad fan base. They were booing Modric in the last home game. They know that Modric isn't worth 40 million, and would have been thrilled to get that much for him. Spurs could have gone out and bout 3 really good players with that money and improved their team and lockerroom,.

Instead, they have an unhappy player, a lockerroom in chaos, and a fan base that doesn't support their best player.

I don't think Levy could have mishandled this situation even more if he tried.

As a Spurs friend of mine pointed out the other day, even 30m for Modric would represent great value. With the emergence of Sandro, Modric's role as midfield general would be absorbed much better and the money gained reinvested in the one part of the pitch where Spurs are lagging behind the top 6- strikers. 20m could've got them a quality promising striker, such as Leandro Damiao or Bryan Ruiz, both of which were tracked and deemed unaffordable by Spurs at the start of the transfer window.

They've still got Modric, but they're criminally short of class options up-front especially if Adebayor can't find his scoring boots.

Right and 40 could have possibly gotten them both Damiao and Ruiz. With two additional strikers, Adebayor can slide into attacking MF role and they can get service from deep MF Sandro. They would not only get two additional great players, but would improve their locker room.

Now they will probably have to sell him in January for about 22.

Agreed. All that money they couldve had for a player whose loss would not have hurt them that much (still have about 20 midfielders there) and all they added was.....Adebayor on loan, and Scott Parker.

Anyway, seems like De Bryune will happen for us eventually, so not worried about that.

A lil disappointed that hes not a done deal  Guess it will surely be a January deal when Genk will be outta the CL.

Hope the news of CFC being interested does not bring in competitors when we go back for him next season or in January.

No, rumours were a fee had been agreed and all it was waiting on was a signature but the Genk hierarchy blocked it. To say he wasnt happy is a massive understatement.

Hopefully we'll get him next Summer then, but we'll have to be quick as I imagine he'll impress with Genk in the CL this year. Wouldn't be surprised if he scores against us/

To be honest, this is the transfer I am most upset about. Especially if it turns out to be another Aguero situation and he impresses in the CL and ends up at Arsenal.

Id be more worried about City doing that.

Really excited to see him against us in the CL, have a bad feeling he's going to score against us!

Is there a chance we could try and tie up a deal before Janruary for him?

Whats with all the excitement and disappointment over this guy?

A fantastic prospect that desperately wants to sign for us (excitement) that didn't get his chance because his club screwed him over and pulled the deal (disappointment)

What's not to get?

Sorry. That didn't come across right. I understand we all get excited at a young prospect particualrly a winger. I meant to say, I didn't really get the excessive disappointment over not getting this particular player who looks nothing more than a decent prospect to me and who himself said that he'd be loaned back immediately.

I can understand why Genk would block his move. Imagine if he did well for them in the CL? His value would increase quite a bit.

Fair point footballoholic- I think in my case it's because not only does he look a very good & effective player, I also think he'll be every exciting to watch. Something we've argueably been missing in previous seasons (for the record, I love watching Chelsea play, but at times we're not the most entertaining of teams around unfortunately, it was hard to convince my girlfriend to get into football last season!)

Its more about locking him up if he has obvious talent and is coming here pretty cheaply. For example, imagine if he has a stellar season, scores 15 goals, creates another 20, and suddenly he is the guy every club is after next year, and the likes of City are bidding 20m on him. I realize thats extreme but if is made out to be as good as he is, his career should go onward and upward

Agree with you there, although it could well be the other way round and we may not even be interested next time. But thats the gamble and it was worth taking.

Anyway, seems we may be agreeing a deal sooner than expected.

De Bruyne's dream move to Stamford Bridge not dead

Winger Kevin de Bruyne’s dream of a move to Chelsea has been revived.

Genk rejected a £6million Chelsea bid on deadline day but the Belgian club will reopen talks over the unhappy 19-year-old in a fortnight.

My understanding is Genk did not want him loaned back to a rival club hence they decided to block the move

I think the proposal was to loan him back to Genk and paying his wages. It seems though that Genk recon that Kevin will develop further and raise his value over the coming season, so they are optimistic they can get more money for him next summer.

From Star on twitter: NeilCFCStar Neil

Heard last night 100% confirmation that the Kevin De Bruyne deal stalled over the CL draw. Their progress will dictate the transfer date.

This makes perfect sense. If we were to sign him and loan him back playing against us would be a problem, either because of rules or personal loyalty.

It's why I thought the deal might have stalled, though I'm not by any means an expert.
