Luiz to Barca?

Featured Replies

Solve the center-back problem by buying Cahill, then create a new center-back problem by selling Luiz? Does not compute. The only way it makes sense is if Chelsea need the money (FFP).

Ever since we bought Luiz I've had nightmares of this happening. Puyol ain't getting any younger, and Luiz has bags of skill and even sports a haircut that would make Puyol proud.

But then again, we have an important game tomorrow, so it's no wonder we're getting one of those rumours/stories.. we should be bloody used to it

JT's not going to last forever either.

Barca don't have that sorta money atm.

You'd be surprised. They're in bucketloads of debt yet find ways to spend extravagent amounts (last year they weren't meant to have much to spend yet they bought Sanchez and Fibreglass).

If, and that's a big if, they are willing to pay £35m for Luiz, I'd probably take it

You can't put a price on the joy that Luiz brings to our lives.

I don't know... 35 million is basically in between what we paid for Hazard and Hulk. I would really miss him, but it is a tempting offer. The question is, who would we replace him with?

Don't get me wrong, I love Luiz but if you stop to think about it it's £35m and we could use that money to buy a better CB for that money (see Thiago Silva, Hummels).

I don't think anything will happen but if an offer like that comes about it certainly makes you stop and think.

Luiz is still young and has bags of talent, he would be a huge loss with Terry getting on in age.

The last defender we should be selling given his age, talent and character.

.

I don't like this at all, although its possible that with Cahill, JT and a new RB on the way the plan is to give Ivan the CB role he seems to prefer.

Luiz should be one of the players we hang on to though and not just for his ability (which is coming on in leaps) but his persona, he just comes across as such a laugh and a happy squad is always a bonus.

Also think that even though Ivan prefers being CB, he isn't half the player he is at right back when he plays in the middle.

But with Luiz, I honestly think he is our next captain. Given that he picks up a bit more English, I think he has the character to rise to the big occasions in the same way that JT has over the years and I also think that the added responsibility might contain his rash challenges a bit more. Never want to see this man leave.

No. Chelsea should never sell Luiz. Especially to Barcelona.

35 million is almost a fair assessment of his value as a young and talented player. But Luiz bring so much more to Chelsea than being a good defender.

If Barcelona want to give us 35 for the defender, I could only agree as long as Barcelona agrees to never think about Romeu again AND agrees to give any sort of revenue that Luiz generates because of how easily he is loved by the fans.

Obviously UEFAlona won't agree to those terms so I'm content with keeping the overjoyed Brazilian here with us. I love his passion.

If Barca are truly willing to spend 35 million on Luiz, then that should tell you all you need to know about the calibre of player he is. I can count on one hand the number of center halves in the world that can compare to Luiz in terms of skill. It's a mistake to think we could take that 35 MP and get a comparable player without spending the majority of the fee on them. Luiz fits here, he should stay here.

TBH he would fit current Barca's system better than ours. I don't want him to go as he is our new Carvalho and one of the most promising CB's out there but he'd be perfect for Barca.

We are Chelsea FC, we do not sell our players until they are not good enough for us anymore!

Evidently, even until long after they cease to be good enough for us.

But they do miss penalties against us in Champions League finals...
