Offensive as in if I get upset if someone uses it? No, not really. I find it boring more than anything. Besides, "Chelski" sounds Polish not Russian, so it's not a very apt nickname anyway.

Exactly its Polish, so if people use it as a demonym for us having a Russian older it seems kind of dumb. The only time I really raise my eyebrows over it is if the media uses it, seems kind of childish at that point.

Exactly. Media should know better.

Alas, Maksimov, you should know by now that a substantial part of the media chooses not to know better in order to pander to the slice of the population which doesn't know any better.

I know, but I still somehow manage to feel disappointed when I see the media do it.

Optimists may be doomed to disappointment, but pessimists are miserable buggers!

But there it's used in a correct context. When Roman came along, people started using the name because they thought it sounded Russian.

Sure, never said otherwise. Posted it more as a fun fact than anything else, although one could say it's further proof that journalists used to be better.

I find it very offensive, for some reason. Just hate it, and I really hate it when one of us uses that term.

I recall a few years back someone of this forum call Ashley "Cashley", and I went ballistic.

Well the intention is certainly offensive, since it implies fans are only Chelsea fans because of Abramovich's cash injection. For the aged such as you and me Phillip this is easily refuted, but for youngsters who through no fault of their own were not around in the days of Chopper and Bonetti and Tambling and Osgood, it must be galling.

I don't like it and more so from our own Fans, I must say though in a choice of plays on words between us, Man sh*tty, Manure, the Arse, Liverpoo and even lowly Crippled Alice I think we can cope with it
